Absolutely loved the chickpea chips. Super salad was OK but lacked a complimentary dressing. We were seated in the 600s and the warmth was delicious coming from the overhead heaters.

Table of 15 booked outside with table service. We were there for 25 minutes before anyone came out to serve us, even then we had to go and ask. Once served some food and drinks no body came to clear tables or take further drink orders - to the point where we went inside to order.
Dissapointing and clearly missed out on some sales of beverages during the afternoon. We planned to stick around until 5pm, but left and went elsewhere.

Great food , in our group, 2 had special (very difficult) dietary requirements and it has been a long time and many cafes, restaurants since I have heard them both comment that the food was absolutely fantastic. Well done to all. We will be back.

The food was good... we had table service for ordering but we had to wait quiet awhile for someone to come... it would have been easier and I suspect quicker if we ordered at the bar when we came in. Also it was assumed that there would be one bill for the table but everyone wanted to pay indidviually... however staff rectified this when we left. The food was great!

I don't think the food was great value. $9 for a small bowl of chips?! Also it would be good if all our meals appeared closer together. Our table was 12 people but some had finished their meal before others had even arrived.

My father and I both ordered the brisket. His whole meal was so tough he sent it back. My first piece was extremely tough but the second a little more tender. The manager was however very apologetic and gave Gina second meal to compensate the first very average one.

Easy going relaxed place with an interesting menu. Love the inside outside choices. You can sit by the fire, in a deck chair on the river or tables under cover
Friendly staff and decent pricing.

Had a great time, was a bit annoying that the heater did not work. We got relocated but two tables. It decided the group a bit and we had to hunt a waitress down to order. Otherwise great evening!

I have been to Boatbuilders a number of times and usually it is quite good. This day however, service was terrible, with a 45 min wait for a coffee.

Good Location for a catch up with friends and not too expensive however some of the meals such as veal schnitzel tres ordinary - deep fried it seemed with a token average coleslaw. Some of the meals didn’t come and we had to chase them up.

The menu was lovely, I chose the pulled lamb salad and it was absolutely delicious. As was the almond dip. Nom nom nom

Our waitress was absolutely lovely too, always smiling and made some terrific menu suggestions.

Despite the inadequate choice of tables and the exposure to the sun we ended up moving to a more satisfactory seating arrangement and location. This was pre booked and discussed, as we had 4 toddlers and a baby as well as 16 adults. The venue was otherwise very good.

The ambiance was lovely, although it was a bit of a wind tunnel at the back and got noisy and congested. We were a bit squashed in our seating arrangement. The food was ok, nothing to rave on about, good just for a quick bite to eat beforehand. We went on to Melbourne Public Bar for a few drinks and a dance afterwards. Nice spot though for a get together.

Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, staff were very friendly and helpful (had to change tables twice to accomodate extra people, not a problem).. Food was great, served in timely fashion and all at the same time! Overall very good experience and would come back.

A lively restaurant with a good atmosphere and plenty going on when we were there - Mexican wrestling demonstration. Could have been a bit too much going on as the table service wasn't as good as we expected. First tried to seat our booking of 10 at a table that comfortably seated 6. Admittedly, staff immediately corrected the problem by allowing us to use an adjacent table. Next, part of our lunch order was late arriving. Two guests ordered the taco special and then waited and waited. The specials were being cooked at an outdoor BBQ near our table and we could see that nothing was happening for a while. Eventually, two orders were prepared but the staff didn't know who they were for. We watched the two serves do the rounds of the restaurant before the came near our table and we claimed them. Would go back again but wouldn't be top of the list for dining choices near the CBD.

Great location and venue with a great selection of drinks. However the table we booked for dinner (for 9 people) was right in the middle of a large drinking group which ruined the ambiance. Food was generally OK although the veal schnitzel was burnt and came with only coleslaw on the side (no chips??) which was disappointing for a $26 pub meal.

We had a mixed experience. Staff were lovely and managed to move us to a table where we could watch the Australian Open tennis on the big screen. Our meal order somehow didn't make it to the kitchen. When we followed up staff were most apologetic and we were offered a free round of drinks while we waited. Unfortunately this drink order seemed to get lost as well, though did arrive after a reminder. Our meals were quite small but very tasty and the quality was good. The pulled lamb shoulder salad was a favourite at our table. The ocean trout was a very small serve. Overall, the staff were great and the atmosphere was very relaxed.

I've been to the Boatbuilder's Yard a number of times, the service is always friendly and professional but the meals this time were not great. I chose the veal schnitzel which was very dry and the accompanying slaw was also completely dry with no dressing so it was a very bland meal. The atmosphere is good there on a sunny day.

Booked here for my husbands birthday. Was told I could book a table facing the water but when arrived it was out the back. I did ask a bar member about my booking but he said he couldn't help me. The food was below average. We ordered over $400 of share plates and the calamari was awful and lamb ribs were just fat. Staff were friendly but wouldn't book here again unfortunately.

We had a booking for 20 people for a work team lunch. We arrived and were told we were split over two tables, one for 14 and the other for 6. This was unfortunate as the table of 6 felt like they were seperate to the rest of the team on the larger table. It would have been good to have been told prior to arriving this would be the setup. I understand that it’s difficult to arrange a single table of 20, but it would have been nice to at least be split evenly over two tables.

Service was very slow, particularly drinks. We ordered drinks and food at the same time, and our food came out before the drinks arrived. This was unfortunate particularly when all the drinks were just a mix of beers and wine so it shouldn’t have taken that long.

Food was nice and pretty good value for the price.

8 of us for dinner. Meals were not delivered for 4 people. After following up it was learnt the order didn't get through to the kitchen so meals were then expedited and 3 of them delivered with $30 compensation. The 4th meal never arrived and as we had to leave to go to a function we got a refund on that. Food was ordinary. We would go there for a drink and that's it.

The food was really nice, and the wait staff very pleasant and polite, however the food took a really long time to arrive., and our last order of drinks didn’t arrive. This may have been because the restaurant were understaffed. I will try again as i did really enjoy the food, and the spot we sat at was airy and quiet and spacious.

I booked for 15 people, well in advance. When we arrived one of our tables was double booked. The occasion was a workmates farewell, but the whole experience was pretty ordinary and stressful. Will not be recommending this as a venue and will not return. No apology and no effort to rectify the issue.
