The Boatbuilders Yard
Great open place, loved the ambiance. Was noisy but not too noisy that you couldn't have a conversation.
Food was good. Only just wish that a chef in Melbourne could make a burger that isn't drowned and sloppy.
Great location and setting. Their diverse clientele is always interesting to observe. Service is prompt, and efficient.
Great venue and location with great staff. All round we had an excellent evening.
We had multiple ordered put through for our table in a staggered time frame. Two separate food orders were forgotten. One of which was forgotten twice. Our diners with forgotten meals were compensated with a drink which was appreciated. In attempting to order a cocktail jug it was informed that the drink ordered could only be served in a jug (tequila sunrise) and only a glass. In asking for a jug of water for our 15+ people it was also informed that no jugs were available- after having waited 10+ minutes to be served at the exterior bar as there was only one attendant serving.
My guests loved hr place and we will definitely be back.
Overall, the experience was ok. There were a few issues with the delivery of food however the food itself was nice. The servers when asked for something were great, however weren't very attentive otherwise. Overall a good night.
Atmosphere and service was good. Food portion sizes small for pricing
This place was great as it was after an event at the Melbourne convention centre so it was insanely close! Drinks were good and food was pretty good. Had a few issues with the wagyu burgers but everything else was fine! Would recommend the fish burger, barramundi and the BBQ brisket! This place is perfect for drinks and snacks maybe! After work or before a night out!
Our first night in Melbourne and the food was wonderful! A great place to try new things, especially the seafood! I wish you could sit outside and not be surrounded by people smoking, but I guess that’s just a thing.
Nice space. Good for kids. Service was very average. Didn't have the booking I'd made earlier in the day. Not enough team members on the bar so the queue for ordering food and drinks was painful.
After walking past on many occasions and not once ever stopping, we will now definitely return. Venue was perfect setting for family gathering for sons 21st Birthday. Outstanding service, beautiful food. Could not fault anything. Well done.
great place to meet with friends every thing about the place was great
We loved everything about our experience as we headed out for dinner. The Boatbuilders Yard has everything going for it however our online booking didn't register despite receiving an email confirmation stating that our reservation was confirmed (which included a booking reference number also). So apart from the 10 minute wait initially while staff scurried to find a table, our experience was great. We're very appreciate of the effort the staff made to sort out the online failure that added on the spot service pressure. it was handled very well indeed.
Good location, cold beer nice food would go back again
We went to the Boatbuilders Yard. It was dope. I didn’t see nobody building no boats, but I done ate some chips and a brisket and additionally I done drank two beers.
It was a relaxing spot to watch the Jordan Peterson protesters and I saw one of them clowns was dressed as a lobster. Lol those flogs. Go to the Boatbuilders and smash some beers would be my recommendation.
I had the chicken and lamb shoulder
And dessert was beautiful and very well presented
Service and atmosphere was good however the chips and calamari were way too salty. Chicken drumettes were not great either unfortunately. Would go again for drinks only!
Always great - We keep n coming back. Never any complaints.
We will be back.
Once we arrived our experience was great.
However I had left 2 voice mail re booking with no return call.
SO i booked online and when we arrived there was no record of the booking!
I celebrated my birthday here for an afternoon. The staff and venue are fantastic. They were super accommodating with the cake, storing it in the fridge and not charging a cake fee. We had table service and our waiter/host was absolutely delightful! So helpful and friendly. I didn't catch her name but she has red in her hair. I ate the jerk chicken breast and a range of starters - all were delicious. They make a great Aperol Spritz too! The venue is spacious and suited the crowd I was with. I have no complaints! :)
Not very conducive to Corporate Group bookings as we ended up having to nominate one person to take everyone's orders and go up to the bar and it was hard on the bar staff to take food and drink orders for 12 people. Would have been better to have been able to order at the table.
Also, we had a booking until 2pm however were asked to leave at 1.30pm as the next booking had turned up early. Not our problem and not good that we were made to feel that it was.
Great food and service BUT our table booking was mucked up - not allocated and end initial joining a different group I g until we requested a separate table for our group.
3 of the guys ended up with skin pealing off their elbows, there must have been some sort of cleaning fluid still on the table. It would be good to talk to someone about this. Ian 0438812030, thanks.
Great atmosphere, good food. Some of the Bar staff could be a little friendlier. I know they are busy but they could give a smile
Very efficient and friendly service
Unfortunately we did not have a great experience. Our food order was lost somehow between ordering and the kitchen and only realised after 45 min when we went to check....so no food. It was not that busy so should not have been an issue. Really disappointing as it was a special occasion for us to all catch up and ended up leaving to find food elsewhere.
Great food, service, location and atmosphere. :-)
I had booked a table for 9 and unfortunately we had to sit on 2 tables. Not ideal really
Coffee took sooooo long and was longer to arrive than our food. Not hot enough either.
Food was amazing
Brill spot, they really looked after us.
We'd come again.
The food was lovely & the service was attentive.
We enjoyed the venue and the location was great, right on the water. Our food was delicious when it finally arrived, after it took a long time to get service after initially being seated, we had to call the waitress over after about a 15 minute wait to order, and our drinks that we ordered on seating hadn't arrived yet either. The waitress was apologetic and very friendly. 1 meal was then missed on the order so we had to reorder that, but it was delivered quite quickly. Thankfully food was delicious. I wouldn't say we had a negative experience but the initial ordering of food and missed meal just meant my review score was probably not as good as it could have been.
Food was great and very fast to come out. Service at bar was good. Many options for food and drink selections. Great idea having sunscreen in the bathrooms.
You seriously need to turn the music down. We organised to catch up with friends - ie we talked a lot and after a couple of hours we were sick of talking over the music. I wouldn't call the music energetic - just way too loud - back ground music is good - but when you can't hear someone who is 2 feet across from you or when the wait staff attend the table, it means the music is far too loud.
Geeat casual indoor and outdoor hangout for food and drinks with friends
Great relaxed atmosphere, very accommodating as we had a small baby with us as a group.
Great food options and love that we could share.
Great ambience. Good food. Pretty casual dining place.
Service though was found to be average and would be great if it can be improved. We made a request with our dinner booking for a suitable table for a group of 9 including a double pram and a stroller. We went down to the venue earlier in the day, spoke to manager, pointed out the section we would like to be seated and were told it could be organised.
However we ended up being put in a different section which is fine as that happens but we were placed on 2 separate bench tables which made it awkward for conversations, and hardly any space for the prams. To move the prams we had to ask patrons on the tables beside us to stand up and move so that was a bit disappointing given we had made the effort to make arrangements.
Service was also a little slow.
Overall we still do recommend this venue for casual dining.
Great location for a casual lunch especially if you have a large group. Children friendly and reasonable prices.
Went to the boat builder's yard for my boyfriend's birthday and we all had a wonderful time, the service was great, staff were all very friendly and knew the menu incredibly well. Food and drink all came out very quickly and tasted amazing.
P.S. apologies to the young brunette waiter on behalf on my friends who tried to set him up with one the single ladies in our group.
The food was good but above all our waiter Sam was excellent , his boss should pay him more as he is an excellent assert , Our whole party enjoyed our visit
Service was excellent, food pretty good. It was busy but staff were friendly and efficient
