Here at The Boathouse we are proud to offer a warm Scottish welcome. Our hearty menu is inspired by the fantastic range of options Scotland has to offer. We have a passion for using seasonal, local produce and are here to ensure our guests have the very best dining experience.

We are delighted to serve up an array of home cooked Scottish favourites including Shetland island mussels, freshly landed fish and chips, The Boathouse steak pie, haggis, neeps and tatties and many other classics.

Our bar area offers a warm and cosy welcome whether your tipple is a beer, wine, cocktail, gin or dram.

And don’t forget we have the most fabulous outdoor seating overlooking the stunning Loch, the perfect spot on a sunny day. We also have a small number of cosy outdoor covered bothies available.

We are dog friendly and serve up a special menu for our four legged friends created by our friends

    Enjoyed our lunch and what we had was good. It was disappointing that the specially priced lunch menu shown on the website was not available. The only choice was the full dinner menu and that is not always what you want at lunchtime. I had two starters to compensate.

    The boathouse is a nice little addition to the site. Food and service all good. We thought that wine at £24 a bottle was a little pricey so we ordered beer. Glad we visited though.

    A limited menu well cooked. Much better than an extensive menu cooked indifferently. Everything we had was delicious, service was friendly and helpful, and the place was relaxed and comfortable.

    Cons- Don’t expect quick service, Macaroni cheese swimming in oil waitress said not normally like that and wrong side. Told will bring the correct side, never appeared. Still charged for a dish that physically couldn’t be eaten. Over £100 later kids were still hungry. My chicken balmoral was nice and fish was good but considering it’s on a lot with no other restaurants you’d excel in all aspects. It would make a lot of money if it changed a few things.

    Dreadful food and service - 45mins wait for a child’s starter of garlic bread. 2 other customers returned their food whilst we were waiting as one cold, and other chicken undercooked The dogs in the restaurant were served quicker and food looked not appetising

    Great service, with complimentary aperitifs as our original booking had to be changed. Tasty, good quality, fresh food. Very much enjoyed the cocktails. Quiet as mid week and early in season so service was speedy. Thank you to the Boathouse team.

    Fantastic meal and service at the Boathouse. Lived up to its reviews, we travelled well out of our way to dine there but glad we did. Was very relaxing and friendly, recommended for all types of people to visit. Highly recommend and would go again.

    Food was really really nice and all staff very friendly. My only complaint would be the price they charged for the kids starter in comparison to what it was. But overall, we will definitely go back!

    On holiday in Fearnan and promised ourselves last time we came to try the boathouse. Meal booked at 2pm Easter Sunday Blessed with lovely weather so had a walk around before our meal Staff were lovely The food was fantastic. Hot,full of flavour and good size portions. Had the steak and sausage pie,chicken in mushroom cream sauce and fish and chips. We were too full for pudding but shared an ice cream to cleanse our pallets The irn bru icecream was amazing Here for two weeks so will be going again

    the staff were absolutely lovely, couldn’t fault them at all, the food was average and overpriced & the little booth that we were in could have been advertised better & with a little heater for the colder nights as it was rather drafty during our experience.

    Booked in advance and pretty busy for a Tuesday evening. Beautiful setting overlooking the Loch and really pleasant interior. Service was friendly and attentive. Food really tasty and freshly cooked. We didn't have it, but the fish and chips were enormous! Sticky toffee pudding for dessert lovely! Not over the top prices, adult meals with desserts and drinks for 4 came to £98.

    Lovely setting with really friendly staff. This was a return visit but the food was disappointing. Soggy batter on the fish, over cooked chips and watery tartare sauce. Is a dog friendly place which I’m all in favour of being a dog owner but barking was very noisy.

    Booked this for lunch to break up our journey from Penrith to Newtonmore, after finding it on line. What a find beautiful location great food and service, probably quite at this time of year when accommodation on site was not full. Would imagine it can be very busy when season really starts.
