Good food, good service, lovely views - what else could you want on a Sunday?
We've had a great experience at the Boatman in Windsor. Our table was positioned exactly as we've asked during the booking through Open Table. The food was tasty, really nice atmosphere and a very good and fast service. Thank you for making our evening is so special
Great food and wine. Very pleasant atmosphere as well.
We had a wonderful evening out, food was superb and service excellent. Lovely location on the river.
We ate in the bar area and had a lovely evening. The fish dishes were delicious and the staff friendly and attentive.
The restaurant was absolutely wonderful. The food and service were great as well as the view.
We love the position of this restaurant. The food is lovely, a bit pricey but the service is amazing. We were there with some very big table bookings and yet we were still served and looked after really well.
We were there for Sunday night dinner. Unfortunately they were out of the Roasts had the chicken it was good. Fabulous folk music on the playlist
Superb service from very helpful smiley staff, nice location overlooking the river and great food. Noise level was a bit high at times for older clientele, but overall very enjoyable. Staff pulled out all the stops to ensure a good dining experience after a disappointing meal for one of the members on our table, by offering a free and delicious dessert. Would recommend this place to others.
The boatman was superb would definitely recommend the food was outstanding
Party of 4, all had different mains and all very good. Waitress was very friendly and helpful.
It was great - as always!
We had a long layover at LHR and it was our Anniversary so we chose to leave the airport and go to Windsor. After seeing pictures of The Boatman and reading reviews, we were pretty sure it would be a great place. It was very special. The view arriving at the restaurant was perfect...just steps from the Thames. There were so many dishes on the menu I wanted to try but our waiter suggested any of their special Sunday roasts would be the best choice. I went with the roast chicken with seasonal vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. It was truly delicious and there was so much food I could not finish it all. I look forward to another long layover and the chance to return.
I'm always wary of commercial Sunday roasts - the potatoes are rarely good and the meat slices often thin! But this was the best Sunday roast I've had in a long time. Superb. Lovely location on the river, even on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
Fantastic food and service. Had a generous and perfectly cooked sirloin steak and my wife had the lamb - both very generous and tasted fantastic. Very friendly service staff as well and lovely ambiance outside by the river. Highly recommend.
Thanks for making our anniversary special.
- Lack of waiters and cookers. We were waiting almost 3 hours for finishing our lunch.
- The lamb was pure fat.
Lovely location but the food very average. Fish cake was more potato than fish and was barely warm. The accompanying salad a sad, wilted affair.
We sat outside and had an early supper - food, fast and efficient service and ambience all excellent. So good that we returned for lunch the next day. Thoroughly recommended
A gorgeous setting right at the edge of the river. The Boatman has, as well as outdoor seating/dining space, a covered decking area which still retains the experience of eating outside regardless of the weather. The food was very good and not expensive the wine list was imaginative. There was a wedding on while we were there which had closed the main bar and inside of the restaurant and which meant that noise levels were higher than normal but we enjoyed our experience regardless.
Thank you to all staff at the Boatman for a really lovely evening on 17th September and especially the manager. She was just fantastic.
Staff friendly and rushed off their feet.
Small issue of having to order twice for coffee but given the order as complimentary by way of apology.
Happy to recommend and would go again.
Very short staffed and consequently slow and inconsistent service. Didn’t help that a very noisy group of 10 people were seated next to half way through the meal. Disappointing.
It was clear from the moment we arrived, that although restaurant bookings are available on a Sunday until 8pm, they really want to just get you out as quickly as possible. They forgot our starter - brought our main, which was cold - and then when I sent it back and said we would like our meal as we ordered it, after the starter the same plates came back which had just been heated up. The young waiters are lovely, but are not trained to deal with problems, and management hid. At just after 8 they turned off the music and started clearing up around us - if we had wanted fast food, we would have gone to MacDonald's. Suffice to say, we won't try this place again - its location is all it has going for it, and they clearly care very little about the customer experience.
I visited here with my nine year old son. The food was really good, clean plates always a good sign. The venue is lovely, clean and in a fantastic location. But most of all the meal was made by the fantastic staff who could not have been nicer to my son. Will certainly be back!
Lovely food, professional, attentive staff, fabulous location. High- end feel and presentation for very reasonable prices, very pleasant experience. It added to our day.
Without doubt the best food in town. Excellent value for money too.
Great food and service in one of the best spots in Windsor
Excellent setting and the staff were very helpful. The vegetarian choices were fairly limited (burger or salad for mains) but the food was delicious.
Such a great spot. I booked a table using open table which was good as they were super busy and turning people away. I ordered steak which I never usually order unless I go to a steak resturant as I like mine well done. It came out succulent, full of flavour and was overall delicious. I'm so impressed I'll be heading back in a few weeks.
Fabulous food in a lovely location
Can't wait to go back for another lovely 🌞 day lunch
Fabulous food and service, very attentive staff. Would definitely recommend
At nightfall on the outside tables closest to the river, the dining experience would be greatly enhanced by some simple candle lighting as some tables, ours, the food was difficult to see how the meat was cooked.
Our table was booked for 2:30pm. We were sat on a lovely table outside overlooking the river. However that I where the positives end. Our drinks took 45 minutes to arrive. We had to ask 3 times for a jug of tap water. Many waiting staff would walk past our table look at the empty glasses when we were finished and didn’t attempt to clear them away which meant a copious amount of wasps. Our starters came an hour after we ordered them. We were waiting for our mains to arrive and it wasn’t until one of our party went to ask that the manager came over to offer his apologies. Apparently there had been a communication error with our order (which we didn’t believe as our starters seemed to have gone through without a problem). With it now being 4:15pm and we still hadn’t received our mains and we were still waiting on our second order of drinks, we decided to leave. The service was horrendous and it’s such a shame to be writing this review as the reason we chose this place was because of some of the positive reviews in the past.
We had a lovely lunch at The Boatman on Saturday. Had a great table near the window. Very attentive service and everyone enjoyed their food.
Came especially for the roast, friends came a long way to meet us because we had recommended the sunday roast. None left by 5pm & very little choice remaining on the menu
The food was excellent (Sunday Roast), in fact the best roast dinner I have had in a restaurant - they are usually a disappointment and never as good as home cooked, but this was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. The staff were helpful and cheerful. It was a real pleasure to visit. We were late as we had not anticipated just how long the Long Walk actually is and how big Windsor Great Park is, and so we telephoned ahead to let them know we were trying to find our way out of the park. The response was cheerful and accommodating and on arrival we were still given a great table by the window, which I thought we would have missed out on considering we had not arrived on time. A wonderful place for Sunday Lunch - I would thoroughly recommend.
The service was poor.
Staff were so attentive we thought there was a microphone under the table.
The food presentation was very good.
I would be very happy to go again.
Half of menu was not available. Prices were high. First steak delivery was cooked as “well done” when it was ordered as medium rare (to their credit they redid it, but that meant not every one ate at the same time. Sauce was extra cost.
Setting by the Thames is great. Still worth going to for that experience.
