The Boatman, is Windsor’s only pub on the river at the foot of Windsor Castle overlooking Eton Bridge. Serving freshly cooked food all day everyday from midday to 9pm at night, in the cosy bar, restaurant or in the stunning riverside all-weather conservatory, there is a fine selection of wine, ales, cocktails to choose from.
The bar area and terrace is dog friendly, we cannot accept any pets in the conservatory or restaurant.
The restaurant can seat up to 80 covers and the conservatory with it’s retractable roof can also provide dining for up to 80 people. Perfect for both private and corporate events; parties, birthday celebrations, anniversaries, and family get-together.

Vegan Sausages, Served with Herb Roasted Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables & Vegan Gravy
We've been several times now for a Sunday roast because it's the best we've found in the area for the price. The roast beef and roast lamb are both really good. The vegetables are done really well and the yorkshire puddings are also very good. Overall we've been consistently impressed and not had any disappointments or bad experiences. I can recommend the Sunday roasts, but I think you really must book a table in advance, don't just turn up.
Location, Service and food good. Over half of serving staff not wearing masks. Other restaurants provide better protection from COVID
Always made to feel very welcome when ever we dine at the boatman . The Service and attention can not be faulted . Food was cooked to perfection .
Good food, good service would definitely recommend!
Great spot on the Thames. Friendly staff and good food at a reasonable price.
This is the 3rd time I’ve been here in the last month and I absolutely love it. Food is amazing and good value and the service is perfect. It is noisy but not unbearable, I look forward to the Summer when it will open up and be a great place to eat.
The roast dinner on a Sunday was so tasty and great that vegetarians and vegans are catered for without missing out.
Second time here but the 1st time seated in the glass dining area. In the winter the room clearly has some drafts it needs to plug. Indoor dining was and is more preferable. Overall grub great and pate/king prawns/ crab linguine and fish cakes really enjoyable. Staff very attentive and no complaints at all.
Excellent service and food . Highly recommend .
Lovely location next to the river in full sight of Windsor Castle. It was a very quiet day when we were there but I imagine it gets very busy.
We thought it great value for money with good lunchtime food and have no hesitation in recommending it
Loved it! Great food and lovely service. The setting outside by the river is fab would return / recommend
Only comment is that the chicken burger could do with some kind of sauce
Love this restaurant. Each visit has been excellent been here approx 8 times now and will keep returning
Turned up on time and we were escorted to our table. First impression was that we were surrounded by families with small children. That fact was true to start with but they were no bother at all. Disappointed at the Rose wine choice of only four choices the one we liked unavailable and the second and third we do not like and the third we did not know and at £42.00 a risk, so we had to choose alternative and only had one drink each. After the delay in relooking at the drink available we decided to order our meal at the same time as the room was filling up and others ordering prior to us. The pate was very good but could have been a little more solid as may have been standing as while, but was very good. The bread and oils was different dish and the balsamic and oil was spoiled by the amount of oil within the dip. The main meal Sirloin steak ordered by us both had a slight problem only maybe a communication between the waiter and the kitchen on the steak finish we wanted pink. So the restaurant manager we called over acted very professionally changed the meal and we would state the the steak was spot on the second time the chunky chips were perfect both times and the green beans very good too, however the peppercorn source was one of the best we have both tasted, excellent and we would love the recipe as it must be chef made, another excellent. Have to say we were sufficiently full up and could not eat anymore but to confirm at £102.00 for two of us with only one drink each mine being a coke only we would say it it a little expensive!
On a final point we note that when we booked we noted the booking was my partner special birthday which was completely forgotten on the night.
So to summarise we will return when in town again love to attend in the summer it was nice.
Thank you for the help from the manager as it made the night, the waiting staff were very good too.
Very good food, great setting on the river.
We booked a table for early on New Year's Eve and were pleased that a number of the tables were occupied both inside and outdoor in the covered area which allowed for some atmosphere. We had the option of the normal al a carte menu which was also a bonus. Staff were friendly, polite and attentive. Food was good and overall we had a really nice evening. Were told that the restaurant would close at 11.00pm which suited us.
Good food, service was great and lovely atmosphere
Family meal between Christmas and New Year. We ate in the conservatory - airy light, spacious, with great views of the Thames.
Welcoming, polite and attentive staff.
Delicious meals at a reasonable price.
Easy parking at the station car park adjacent to the pub at £5 for the day off-peak.
I would certainly book again.
Four of us dined here on my wife's birthday, lovely food arrived hot .Served by three different staff during our meal all friendly . There was a large party behind us a bit loud but nice to see people enjoying their night was given the chance to move when we arr
ived, no need too! Lovely evening .
Food was very good, the waiting times between meals felt a bit slow and a few of our requests were forgotten and we had to prompt to resolve. Overall, a very good experience.
Food was excellent and nice view to the river from the marquee.
Excellent meal as always , such a shame the restaurant wasn’t full so the atmosphere was lacking a bit
Friend had lamb which was excellent. I had the burger which was tasteless, overcooked and dry, wasn’t seasoned and lacked any sauces. Essentially a dry toasted bun with a tough inedible party - very disappointing - chips good though. Good wine list and friendly service. Lovely location.
Good food, nice place to go to eat. Service was a bit slow and taking plates and glasses away took a little while. But would still go again and would recommend
Excellent service an issue with food was resolved quickly and efficiently. Really lovely atmosphere great customer service & food. Would definitely recommend.
Great atmosphere. Food fantastic
Went for Sunday lunch and both the service and food was excellent. Staff very friendly
Excellent food and good service- will definitely be booking again
Excellent food in a great location.
A charming pub, excellent location right in the banks of the Thanes beneath Windsor Castle.
Good food & choice of drinks (although odd no tomato juice available?).
Service left a little to be desired especially as it was not busy due to the Vovid panic.
We had a lovely evening and the food was really nice but I could have done with a slightly bigger portion, I would have had a starter as well if I’d know. Have to say it was quite noisy and was only half full so not sure how it would be filled to capacity. I also would have liked some windows open considering the current situation but all these are minor concerns and I’m booked to go again in a couple of days so happy to recommend it.
Very pleasant area to sit overlooking the river.
Staff very nice but service was a little off - passed the meals across the table and just left the bottle of wine up one end of the table when he knew that it was for the other end and had to be asked to put it there.
Food very good and would certainly return.
We had a lovely experience at the Boatman, Food was good and the décor was Christmassy. This is our second visit to the Boatman in one week, It was good we could pre-order too. Thank you!
A great location. We were in the outside conservatory which was heated well and comfortable. The service is friendly and prompt.
A really warm and welcoming pub! The staff were very warm and nothing was too much to ask for. Very lovely and happy with the level of service. I would like to say a special thank you to the lady who served us with pigtails and brown hair (I am sorry I forgot your name!) She was so happy and was a pleasure to speak to. Really reccomend this resturant if you are going there!
Good food. nice location and friendly service. will go again.
One of the best pubs in Windsor! Will be going back until I’ve tried everything on the menu!!!
We had a lovely evening birthday dinner, very friendly staff , we will definitely recommend and be coming back with friends so thankyou for making our meal great.
Great lunch with family. May be more staff needed but a lovely time
Fabulous Friday evening with work friends. Great food, service and value.
Great food and drink. We had fish and chips, really tasty.
