Extremely overpriced and subpar food. I am fine with paying high prices for trendy, modern food but the food was actually bad. I will never be able to tell my parents that I paid $16 for a fried egg on top of a plain dosa. Great drinks though.
Don't get the pepper chilli chicken appetizer. Its mainly all peppers and not enough chicken. waste of money. Good to go 1 time but not a 2nd time. Menu doesn't change and you get bored after the 1st dinner.
I never write bad reviews, but this was truly an awful experience. We made a reservation on opentable and when we arrived at the restaurant, the hostess rolled her eyes at us, and told us there wouldn’t be any tables for an hour and 45 minutes. When I showed her the opentable reservation confirmation, she rolled her eyes again and said “I don’t know how you did that, our reservations are supposed to be closed.” There were plenty of open seats at the bar that she could have offered us, but she went right back to scrolling on her iPad. We went to get a drink at the bar, and she seated us ~20 minutes after our reservation time, when multiple tables became available, so I’m not sure why she made such a big deal about the wait time.
We did end up being seated, and the food was all mediocre and served room temperature. The restaurant seemed very understaffed, as it was difficult to get the attention of any server without being treated like we were annoying them.
Took a friend who ordered Thai chill chicken and she had to hunt chicken in a small bowl full of just chilies.
It was worth trying once.May be I expected a lot. I believe same chef of Tabla( used to be on 25th and Madison). Tabla was one of our favorites. This doesn’t come close to Tabla. Food is good. Service could be better.
Really poor service, we were informed 3 times that the kitchen was closing and we need to be quick (even though we ordered within 5 minutes of arriving). Waiter had an attitude and was very rude.
Informed in advance that we were celebrating a birthday but no mention of it during the dinner. Very disappointing.
Food was great though!
I can't say enough about how much I love this place!!!! Every time I go, and it is often, it is beyond delicious and the most wonderful experience. I have brought different friends and family and every single person feels the same way about it. Even the wallpapers are incredible. I would eat every meal here if I could.
This is my third time at the restaurant and while the food is still good the service was terrible. The Hostess made us wait an hour before seating us even though we were at the restaurant 15 minutes before our reservation. She continued to make excuses when we would approach her at the hostess stand to ask why were not seated even though we had a reservation and were on time. When we were finally seated she was not able to do so herself as we questioned other tables sitting before us without reservations. We did not receive an apology or anything complimentary. I would never go back.
I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. The food was tasty, but as many of the reviews say - their service is slow. Our app and entree came out in a fine amount of time, but once we finished the meal our dessert took 45 minutes to come out. By then we would have rather not had it and left instead. The inside is cute and the food is interesting.
Been wanting to visit the Bombay bread bar since it opened and then when I saw on Instagram that Floyd was closing it down , I had to make my way down there. The upma polenta was out of this world and I remember that was the winning dish for top chef and the halibut watermelon curry was sublime and I wish I knew how you made it because it was so restrained and clean and delicious
We thought it was good food in a great location. All the staff was very nice to us.
Everyone at our table of 6 enjoyed the Restaurant Week tasting menu.
My mother enjoyed the food, ambience and service. Everything was delicious. Excellent. Very sad that the restaurant is closing
It's a shame they're closing soon! The food, drinks, and vibe are great. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow.
My server was wonderful I asked for recommendations from the restaurant week menu and they were perfect. Everything was delicious and the presentations were lovely.
Mediocre service. Otherwise great.
Great place, great service, wonderful food!
Every time we visit the time that they seat you in after arriving for your reservation is extensive. They take forever to reset tables so you’re just standing there whilst there’s empty tables.
Once you’re seated it’s amazing but the hostess and welcome part need smoothing out.
Food is amazing. Wait staff is great. Ambiance is great.
Floyd ‘s previous restaurants had much better food. Only a couple of the 10 dishes we ordered were memorable.
Way too loud and service was painfully slow
The food was great but the restaurant is super crowded.
Good food. Slow service.
Very disappointing restaurant week experience. Service was terrible - the restaurant is completely understaffed and what should have been a quick meal for 2 dragged out over 90 minutes. Also, the restaurant week menu is a terrible deal - in spite of being a bread bar, each diner does not even get his or her own naan in spite of paying $42 for the restaurant week menu! The food was fine but not exceptional - the cauliflower entree was just a massive hunk of deep fried cauliflower. The halibut had the exact same seasoning and sauce.
As my partner said when we left, “We are never coming here again.”
Really bad food. The only savoir is their long list of cocktails and drinks. Their limited food menu doesn't qualify for a restaurant week or brunch/lunch. Overly priced for the food we got. 15$ for a really bad bhel puri which had nothing but rice crisps mixed with a lot of Tamarind sauce and chat masala and a few bits of Mango. This place is just a bar with limited bad tasting indian inspired snacks and lots of drinks. Also, service is super bad that we waited about 20 mins to get the cheque given that it wasn't that crowded. Host lady was doing all the table arrangement work for like 15 mins when we asked for a cheque and we had to ask her again. Seems like she was lacking that "customer is priority" understanding. Don't waste ur money here. They are shutting down in a couple of months and I believe that shows up in both the food quality & service.
Loved the ambiance and the food was slamming! Awesome presentation and very filling for even the couple of dishes we had shared.
We had a reservation for 8 and weren’t seated until 9
Horrible experience. Had reservations and was told the only option was to sit outside or wait a half hour. After choosing to sit outside, our idea of a date night turned into a 2.5 hour fiasco. We didn’t have our main dish until Almost two hours in after the kitchen was supposedly “backed up”. Food was great, but given the level of service I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
We love this restaurant, the food is fantastic and different, the service is extremely, waiters are very helpful and friendly
The food here is always reliably delicious no matter what you order. You cannot go wrong.
The service wasn't amazing on this particular visit. Food came out too fast to start and then we had an incredibly long wait for the main course (enough so that we were tired and ready to go home by the time it did). No one asked if we wanted a drink during this time and awkwardly bunch of staff stood over us at one point having a personal chat.
That said, I would still highly recommend. The food's incredible, good atmosphere, good price, usually good service.
Horrible service.. didn’t get a glass of water until an hour and a half after sitting down. Our meal didn’t come until two hours later.
One of the worst dining experiences. We were keen to check out the place being in town around restaurant week, But it was very disappointing in almost every way. Our reservation was 7:30 and we were seated by 7:50( only because we requested a table outside). Our server did not take our order until 8:15 and our starters and bread only arrived at 8:45pm. There was no sign of mains until 9:30 and when we followed up, they apologised for a mix up and said they’d prioritise it. When it still did not arrive until 10pm we requested them to just get it packed and ordered dessert which came out in about 15-20 mins.
The tables alongside us experienced huge delays as well and were fairly unhappy. The food was pretty average and obviously very disappointing service. We paid for the restaurant menu bill and were quite surprised they did not write any part of the bill off as a courtesy for all the delay.
NYC expects much better than this. We are in town travelling from Australia( first day literally) and must admit was a bitter experience.
Hopefully other places operate better.
Very sad this is closing. Food is delicious. service is exceptional.
The place is beautifully designed (by Wes Andersen's set designer as you have probably seen) and looks really great on the inside and out with colorful and playful artwork abound. Unfortunately, that's where the goodness ends.
My wife and I walked in at our reservation time but they did not have our table ready so we took a seat at the bar and ordered 2 of their specialty cocktails. Although both of them had many interesting ingredients, they were disappointingly weak.
We were seated about 25 minutes after our reservation time. We were here for restaurant week so we ordered off the prix fixe menu. I ordered the dal pakwan and the halibut while my wife got the haleem and the chicken tikka (certainly not masala).
All of the food was as lifeless and devoid of flavor as the staff. After we were done with all of that, it took us another half hour to get our dessert which was equally disappointing.
We had been waiting to try this place out for a while and were honestly glad we waited until restaurant week. It wasn't worth the discounted prix fixe we paid and it certainly wouldn't be worth the full price.
Fantastic food! This is Indian with a twist. Great meal, service and atmosphere.
It was restaurant week. We were looking forward to tasting menu but it wasn’t offered.
This place was yum. Would recommend. It's closing in September so go quickly!
Unfortunately the Waitress/Manager at the front desk was terribly rude. She literally walked away while I was talking to her. Unbelievable. Very “I’m holier than thou” attitude. Have never experienced that at any restaurant I’ve ever been to and I’m a native New Yorker who dines out a lot. Very disappointed.
Terrible service and spoken rudely to by general manager- left before eating our meal, it was THAT disturbing
Food was mediocre, wait staff as well. Serving size of plates was not worth the price.
