The Boot Ratings and Reviews
The Boot is unusual in being owned by a syndicate of local villagers, and one of them is a friend so we often go there and it’s consistently very good. All three of us had the pheasant on the 1st November and it was so tasty - and also really generous portions - another success! The Old Mout Cyder was good too - West Country scrumpy style:)
First visit and impressed. Food was generally excellent -one gripe -crayfish salad starter appeared to be frozen prawns. Trout, bubble and squeak, Thai curry and raspberry sorbet were particularly good.Very pleasant pub atmosphere and friendly service. Will definitely visit again
This is the second time we have visited the Boot and we were again not disappointed. It has been heaving both times, the first we didn't book but they managed to find us a table after a small wait (so this time we booked) the food is delicious, the staff are helpful and knowledgeable with food and drink. The atmosphere is very relaxed and we thoroughly enjoyed it, next stop to try the Sunday lunches with the family
The food was first class, service was excellent and the bar staff were friendly and made you feel extremely welcome. I would certainly recommend the Boot to other members of our family and friends. This was our first visit to the Boot for several years and we will be visiting again very soon.
Wonderful hidden gem of a place. Went with my father and husband who is a vegetarian. He had 3 or 4 different sides to make up a main meal and was quite happy with that. Dad and I shared the scallops to starter, and both had king prawn linguine with trout which was absolutely stunning. I was just disappointed that I didn't have any room for dessert! We will definitely be coming again!
Our first visit was a most enjoyable experience. Very good food and wine from a perfectly balanced, well priced menu in a comfortable and attractive restaurant that still retains the appeal of a country pub. All those who served us were extremely helpful and pleasant. We look forward to returning.
What a wonderful place, my husband enjoys real ale and theirs was top notch, he has not heard of one of the ales and was offered a small taster, which made him change his mind and went for the unknown. The food was very good, we needed somewhere to eat and I booked online which was very easy.
I booked a table on recommendation from a friend, the pub is easy to find and has lots of carparking.
We were greeted with a warm smile and shown to a table, the pub was clean well decorated and had a good ambience, there is a nice menu to choose from and specials.
We chose the fish sharing board to start, crab, prawns and fish gougions , well the fish gougions were huge, I wish I haven't opted for the fish and chips as a main. But all the food was lovely, I will go back again.
Having booked online, I was slightly nervous but no need - all was well. Nice friendly welcome and shown to our table, which we were asked was it suitable, a nice touch. Many tempting things on the menu. Service was great - attentive but not intrusive. Great decor and good to have a selection of local draught ales. I will return.
