The Brasserie at Sage Gateshead
The Brasserie will open to support all concerts at Sage Gateshead and offers an outstanding menu with something for everyone. Pre show evening service starts from 5pm and provides diners with a delicious two and three course menu.
Your table will be yours for the evening, so you can order dessert and coffee to be waiting for you at the interval.
Good food at a reasonable price. Friendly service.
The staff were very attentive, cheerful and friendly and the food was presented in a timely fashion. We liked the ambience and the restaurant was not noisy. Personally I was rather disappointed with the (single) vegetarian option - a rather uninspired risotto which was much too salty. My carnivorous companions seemed reasonably happy with their dishes, but I won't be in a hurry to return.
My star ratings say it all.Lovely atmosphere, excellent service from very friendly and efficient staff and food of a high quality.
The service was excellent and the food was of a very high standard at a reasonable cost particularly for a venue as good as the Sage.
Great place to eat if you are going to a concert at the Sage. Staff were lovely and the food was good and well cooked, but not special.
There are no windows in the restaurant which is such a shame considering it's position on the banks of the River Tyne, but all in all , very good value for money.
We will go again the next time we go to a concert.
Good pre event meal.
Reasonable choice for GF on a fairly limited menu.
Food tasty and well presented.
Staff all very pleasant and efficient.
Such a lovely meal and amazing friendly service! Highly recommend
On our visit I felt the food was average and looking at advertisements -
'The Brasserie will open to support all concerts at Sage Gateshead and offers an outstanding menu with something for everyone'
it would have you believe it was 'fine dining' to which I wouldn't agree. The starter was quite large and stodgy and the main wasn't big enough with one tiny fondant potato and a very small carrot and parsnip. The chicken and bacon chop main courses were served on a bed of very undercooked leeks and the plates were cold, we did point that out to our waiter at the end of the meal. The service was very good but I would hesitate to return as the set price menu would be great value if the food was top notch and it wasn't.
Ideal for pre-,. post- and in-between show dining. Lovely food. Excellent service.
We waited almost an hour for the main courses. My beef was inedible...I couldn’t cut through it or chew it. It was piled on the plate and the whole meal was covered with gelatinous gravy. My companion's lamb was ok, but both meals were lukewarm, the leeks were uncooked and my parsnip was almost raw.
I feel the staff, both in the kitchen and out front, were overstretched completely.
Once more, a real treat!
The usual, expected ambience, service and choice - comfortable, friendly with an excellent choice offering good value in every respect.
The £10 discount was an unexpected bonus.
We'll be back.
First time visit to the Sage and to Gateshead. We enjoyed our meal in the brasserie and would in particular to compliment your waiter, a young black man. His courtesy and attention was impressive and was accompanied by a smile. Most impressed.
What a triumph! The service was excellent, including emails to keep me up to date in advance.
The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.
Sitting next to a mirrored wall, we felt that it was comfortable and intimate.
It is a brilliant way to amplify the sheer enjoyment of attending concerts at The Sage.
Thank you very much indeed!
As we were going to a show at the Sage we decided to make a night of it with a meal with our friends before the show. The food was excellent the only down side was there was not a great deal of choice. I had the 3 course option and all 3 courses were excellent and the service very good with friendly staff. We weren't rushed but had allowed plenty of time for a leisurely meal.
Great Service- Service from a Gorgeous Lady Too !
We arrived late due to the Metro Service!
This was not a problem- shown to seating area - we had a wobbly table - moved to another.
Cold food. Limited menu and the salmon wasn't available
Delicious food excellent staff made the evening of music complete. The environment cosy clean and neat, very impressed and booking again.
A great place to eat before an event at the Sage. The menu is limited but still leaves plenty of choice to decide about. Staff friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere a bit limited by this being down a corridor below stairs, rather than a separate room. But the decor and lighting is good. Food was tasty and attractive.
We had dinner before the performance of Brendan Cole Showman
Thank you for making our trip from Cumbria extra special with your lovely restaurant!
Really good menu choice, went on a Sunday and had Sunday lunch, very tasty, beef could have been cooked a little longer and there was only one roast potato, otherwise fine. Would definitely book again.
As usual, our experience of the Brasserie was very good - excellent food, reasonably prompt service and pleasant staff !
Very pleasant staff, good pre-concert dining offer and lively food
Very convenient for the shows obviously. Ambiance, layout and decor great. Food - mushroom risotto then a shared Eton mess / ice cream between two delicious. I only wish they would change their menu 6 monthly or annually even. My Dad and shave been a few times and it’s always the same. The service was friendly but a bit neglectful at times.
Great place to go for a pre-show drink and meal. Black pudding starter is great.
I was treated with friendly professional respect. The food was excellent. I was able to eat my meal at a leisurly pace, it was served promptly and I had plenty of time before the show I was attending.
Very convenient for a pre-show meal. Good service, quick arrival of food. Quality of food fine but not amazing. Large portions for main.
We had Sunday lunch, 3 courses, each one was a generous serving and piping hot, beef was very tender, chicken with lemon was very moist, steamed treacle sponge was amazing. Staff were very good, looking forward to our next visit. Well done to all at Brasserie!!!
I have posted on trip advisor. I feel it is a better platform for reviews. Please feel free to view.
We visited for a pre-show meal. The meal was lovely, especially our black pudding starter. Then chicken and salmon. Wine good, Pinot Grigio by the glass. Very relaxed and good atmosphere. Swift service as usual. We will be back soon.
Very impressed from start to finish with the full service and quality of the meal.
first time we had dined here and overall a lovely experience but the four of us struggled a bit with the menu choices and two of us wish we'd opted for chicken ballotine rather than salmon as it was served on a large serving of linguine but very little samphire - my husband loved it however! Didn't have time for dessert but they all sounded gorgeous. Next time we'll make the booking sooner to get an earlier dining time and go full 3 courses
Food excellent. Just dont buy a drink. Extortionate prices. Rip off.
We had a preconcert meal. Our main server, Priscilla was friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
The food was good although we were disappointed that the Chicken balotine came with only small amount of fondant veg. They were very nice but we could almost hear Greg Wallace on Masterchef saying 'where's me taters!'
The other disappointment was that I expected to be able to recognise the good service by adding an amount to the credit card payment but this was not possible and we had no cash. So apologises to Priscilla!
Great experience. Will do it again. Waiter service was exceptional. Lovely lad.
Easy dining before a performance. Friendly, professional staff especially a young lady named Pricilla. Reasonable menu and prices.
Sunday menu was limited. We only ordered main courses. Took over 30 mins to arrive.
Food was luke warm.
Not good value and will not eat here again
Very good food and the table is yours for the evening allowing you to have your sweet and coffee in the
Three top quality courses for twenty quid is a bargain these days. There were no kids in the restaurant which was nice. The service was nice but we waited a bit long for desert to arrive. I'd definitely go back.
Set dinner menu great value. Ideal for pre theatre at Sage. You can go back to your table at interval for dessert/coffee
