Staff all very friendly and we were served quickly after being seated. The starters were ok - cod cheeks with a curry sauce (sauce overpowering but tasted nice), beetroot cured salmon was quite dull and tasteless Main course of steak delicious but at £32 I expected better than oven chips and green beans, some new potatoes and vegetables would have been much better Dessert - husband had the coffee parfait and had to return it, it had a nasty bitter taste and awful texture, the biscuits served with this were Inedible and like rock My gingerbread panna cotta was very disappointing, not soft enough, lacking in flavour and the “sea salt tuille” was literally just melted sugar no and like glass My husband was offered a different dessert so chose the sticky toffee and enjoyed this although it took a long while to come and was forgotten about as we had to ask twice To be fair they didn’t charge for the dessert

We were looking for somewhere in Whitby which was more fine dining and found The Brasserie. Everything was excellent from start to finish. Such lovely staff who were really attentive and we didn’t wait long for food. It was a nice busy but not overly busy atmosphere. I’d describe the restaurant as being high quality and with attention to detail. The food and wine could not be faulted. Delicious! I also heard someone else say their starter was the best they had. What a lovely end to our holiday so well done and thank you!

Booked the brassiere last minute as a surprise, on arrival the initial view is great. On entry the staff were attentive to our needs, but that was the end of the good points. We had ordered the afternoon tea from the menu, when it arrived it looked ok, but further investigation showed it had no resemblance of the menu. Grated cheese sandwich instead of cream cheese & chive, tinned salmon instead of trout. And in my opinion they forgot to put any flavour into the cakes as all 3 were bland/ dry and tasteless.

The hotel and restaurant are a superb place to ti visit, for a tranquil Beach/Spa getaway. The menu is local produce and cooked to an excellent standard by a chef who knows what he’s doing. I had the salt cod Friday and chicken Sunday and both were two of the best meals I’ve experienced in a while and I eat at good places. The wine list compliments the menu very well. The one are that let’s down the restaurant is the process/management. On both nights I was not offered the chance to taste the wine and on the night in question the poor waitress struggled opening the bottle! I’d give her 5 stars alone as her perseverance and who she handled a tricky situation is what any employer would want from an employee. At breakfast she was the stand out performer in terms of effort. But when you pay the money that Raithwaite charge, you expect levels to be higher. A minor picky point maybe to some, but I felt management should be doing more to coach their team to higher levels

Food quality was not what we have experienced on previous visits, new ownership since our last meal here and won't be returning until there is a marked improvement. We both sent our main course back twice and ended up skipping our main course. Our starter was below average but never complained about it. Waitress was lovely and felt really sorry for her having to serve sub standard food.

the tomato starter was nice the scallop ceviche had far too much pickled cucumber which took away the very few scallops taste. The Rib eye steak was so thin again the salad was drown in a vinergaret that made it inedible.

Booked an afternoon tea for our stay, it has to be the worst I have ever experience. There was a hair in the finger sandwich, the fish was full of bones, scone was so dry it was unbelievable as was the cake, one of the cakes looked like it had been nibbled. The manager did offer to replace it, but we decide to go and eat elsewhere. The afternoon tea looked nothing like the beautiful images shown on websites. It just looked beige. Very disappointing

A good job dogs are not allowed in the brasserie. Well prepared food but harrissa overpowering with the seabass. Nice steak with too much sauce. Marmalade ice cream super! Service good; glass of wine a little slow to come.

I arrived quite windswept and soggy as I walked from my accommodation to the Brasserie, but was warmly welcomed on arrival. The menu was varied and there were many dishes that looked appetising. The food was exquisite and the staff helpful and friendly. Overall a lovely experience and a meal I will remember for a long time.

We ordered bread which disappointed as it wasn’t anything special. My husband ordered the special but the oyster fritter was tiny. Risotto with hake wasn’t that tasty at all. Nice setting but wouldn’t rush back.

A mixed bag. The venue is split with a bright and airy area next to the bar and a darker more intimate one as you enter. The staff is welcoming and friendly but service is let down by simple "gaffs". Our party of 4 was directed to a table laid for 3; having been seated elsewhere, the promised menus didn't arrive; a side order of kale came without a serving spoon; the roast potatoes that accompanied our beef (very tasty) were stone cold and the potatoes seemed somewhat bruised. Breakfasts were good with a decent range of options. Regrettably, we had to point out that some of the bread laid out for toasting was mouldy. The Brasserie (and hotel) are billed as "dog-friendly" - unfortunately, at times the diners were almost outnumbered by canine companions and they weren't silent partners! Not good and we're ok with dogs. The dinner menu is quite limited and while this is not in itself a negative, we struggled to find something that said "try me" and dined elsewhere for our second night.

The Brasserie is in a delightful setting and the room is airy and modern. The food was excellent with too class ingredients, some grown in the grounds. Although the staff and waiters were friendly and helpful, we did have to wait quite a long time for our food once it was ordered. Regrettably, I did get a stained teacup for my post-meal tea, but this was immediately rectified when I asked for a replacement. This didn’t detract from a pleasant dining experience.

The starter of pate was delicious . The main @ £30 for a rack of lamb with 2 chops was overpriced. The lamb was well done - should always be pink! Sadly I sent it back & the next plate was better but it had no flavour. The accompanying mash & jus was delicious & presentation was lovely. My mum had a crab starter which was very small & hake which she said was lovely but very rich in a creamy sauce. This was the most expensive meal I’ve ever had - 3 courses, bottle wine & 3 glasses wine £165!

The Brasserie was quite empty when we arrived at 3pm which was surprising for Father’s Day. There was a large group sat behind us with dogs, and the dogs were somewhat noisy although they were taken outside at times. We had a lovely view of the gardens from our table and the Brasserie is in a beautiful setting with plenty of tables outside as well. We had Sunday lunch, mine was roast beef and my husband had roast lamb. My food was delicious but my husband’s lamb was stringy and tough. We thought the main menu could have been more varied.
