Have eaten at Brook Bistro Whitchurch many times. Very polite and easy service, food really good and served timely. We booked lunch to celebrate my Aunts’ birthday on a Friday lunchtime.at 12.30. The restaurant was very busy but oh my word the meal service was horrendously slow. It took half hour to take our order ,40 mins to receive starters and then at 2.30, 2 hours after we sat down we received out main meals. As we had paid for two hour parking my husband had to leave the table to pay for more parking , typically, the food came whilst he was away so he returned to eat ‘kept warm steak’ . He was told he couldn’t have it cooked blue as the steak was too thin !! Whilst waiting, we asked the waitress how much longer we had to wait ,bearing in mind, two of our party had not had starters and had been waiting two hours by now, the waitress said she didn’t know and I hope as a ‘joke’ said she was scared of the chef so didn’t want to ask him- bizarre. We were not alone in having to wait, several tables were waiting as long as us. No apology, no acknowledgement and seeing as you need to confirm your booking beforehand , they would have known how busy they would be. A real shame as we have really enjoyed Brook Bistro, we will just avoid Friday lunchtime now on. Had the tip not already been included on the bill, we would not have left one. Could have asked to take it off but we just wanted to leave by that point. A real disappointment for a birthday meal especially.

Thank you for your feedback. We regret that there were a combination of late deliveries, unexpected staff shortages for personal reasons and a number of tables arriving early and late for their bookings. These things can happen and it so regrettable but like any work place things outside of our control can happen and the team did what they could to mitigate these events. No need to avoid Friday lunches hopefully you many other visits that you have enjoyed will remind this was not typical of us. Please contact us directly as your service charge should most defiantly not been applied.

Food really exceptional with a good choice from the winter set menu. The three of us had separate main and desserts and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Un fortunately it was an hour before we were able to eat as the waitress did not come to collect our order and had to reminded after half an hour of needless waiting

My friends and I visited The brook Bistro for Sunday breakfast and had a mostly enjoyable experience. Initially, we found the noise level from other customers and the choice of music quite overwhelming. One of our group is autistic and finds sensory overload challenging, so we asked if we could move to a quieter area. The waitress was very understanding and accommodating, quickly finding us a more suitable spot where we felt much more comfortable. The food was great, and we really appreciated the staff’s willingness to meet our needs. If you’re looking for a place that listens to its customers, this is a good choice. However, if you’re sensitive to noise, it might be worth asking for a quieter area when you arrive.
