This is a tricky one as the food was great, very well cooked and fantastic ingredients but the service while polite was inept, we got food out of sequence and 2 out of the 4 of us ended up with some things we did not order, also seemed a little short staffed.
good service, excellent steak, good value, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere
Another fantastic evening at the Butcher & Grill. Food cannot fault - totally delicious, fantastic value and service with a smile. One of my all time favorite places.
Monday nights steaks 50% off! Brilliant filet steak for almost the price of a burger!
Went to the Butcher & Grill en route for Twickenham to see England v Australia. Absolutely beautiful ribeye steaks. And what a match! Altogether a brilliant day.
Tried the Monday half price steak night. Beef was superb (some of best I' ve had this side of the Atlantic) and even better it was cooked to perfection.
Chips were excellent as was tomato sale. Split starter of tortellini was generous and pasta good but lacked some flavour.
Would recommend B&G to anyone who has carnivore leanings.
The only shortcoming is the (expensive) wine list.
The service was slightly off par today, quite slow and long waits for drinks to arrive. The head waiter seemed a bit fed up and forgot our starters, bringing our main course straight to the table. It's a little thing, but when I paid the bill and left with my party, no one thanked me or said goodbye. In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have paid the service charge on the bill.
Very nice hot breakfast with good coffee. Shame that they had run out of fresh orange juice by 10:15am on a Sunday morning. Could only offer carton juice which was poor.
Service was a little slow, but the food was excellent!! Will definitely recommend to friends and will be back!!
We were celebrating a family birthday, this is a perfect venue, a slight buzz but not too loud you can't enjoy conversation. All our party thought the food was exquisite, living locally I am aware the standard of the food is high, and have never had a disappointing meal.
Looking forward to returning & trying some more dishes from the Autumn menu, or a delicious Sunday roast.
Great meat selection at reasonable pricing.
Vibrant atmosphere in a busy environment.
Excellent food, good service, and great value
Great as always. Staff are always friendly and caring and the food is wholesome.
Always delicious at The Butcher & Grill. Fabulous steak, lovely sides, gorgeous wine. It's a favourite
We came her with my family for a birthday celebration. The service was really friendly and the atmosphere nice and relaxed, yet still quite smart. The food was very tasty with generous portions. It was a bit more 'simple' than I expected, having been shopping at the attached butcher and deli for several years - more good quality pub food than gourmet: burgers, ribs, gammon and chips etc.... the steak tartare was great! We were so full after starters and mains that we didn't have room for pudding! Nice cocktails and very good olives. Decent value for money.
Great food every time, specially the meat of course.
Great food. Service was a little slow but because they seems so under staffed. Baby changing facilities not great as doesn't pull down flat.
Really great food & reasonable prices. Great care given over outlining gluten-free options which is unusual and really appreciated. One star off service as it was just quite slow, and the restuarant was not busy. Ambience a little low due to not very busy but note it was first night of school hols so everywhere was quiet! We had a good evening.
Went on a Monday for 1/2 price steak offer. Would have happily paid full price for the T bone, was that good, as was the steak tartare, will definitely be back
Lovely restaurant, great service, good value for money, not crowded or noisy so perfect for talking (which realistically is all I want to do when I go out for dinner with my long-distance boyfriend). It's tucked in a quiet residential area of Battersea. Bonus: they save the reservation for an hour so don't get stressed out if you don't come bang on time for your table.
Fresh, high quality ingredients, deliciously cooked and served without fuss.
Awesome place for a meat lover like me.
You walk in through the butcher and see the awesome cuts of meat. Great choice of steaks and cuts to share. We had the cote de boeuf to share. It was great. Sides were great to including some of the best triple cooked chips I've ever eaten
The food very good and the service was impeccable. The waiters were good fun. The ambience was perfect. We could have a conversation and still hear each other. Great location and a local gem. Will be going back soon!
Second dining experience at the B&G and it was delicious. Staff were hugely accommodating, food was delicious and the ambience was perfect. We took 2 year old daughter and in-laws. Will definitely be back!
I went to The Butcher & Grill for Sunday lunch with my brother for his birthday. The roast dinner is the best I've had in London, hence I keep returning. The quality of the meat, roast vegetables and gravy is exceptional.
The best steakhouse in London considering the price.
Saw this recommended in a blog somewhere so decided to give it a try for their 50% steak night on a Monday, so glad we did. The steak was so tasty and none of us were disappointed by the meal. The rib-eye was the clear winner of the night. It is worth the price if you are paying full price too.
Our waiter was having a bit of an off night was was apologetic when he brought the wrong size steak and got rewarded with an even bigger cut - good customer service.
Will go here again.
We ordered the Chateaubriand for two and requested it to be cooked medium rare. Disappointingly, it was served medium to well done! Such a waste for a premium and their most expensive cut to be over cooked and ruined like this! The manager agreed it was over cooked and blamed it on the absence of the head chef. Also, the temperature of the red wine by the glass was too high. Although the butchery was closed at the dinner time when we arrived, the stale smell of raw meats at the entrance was too strong. However, the staff were friendly and the service was good.
Great service and great meats. Although not the reference for brunch I high recommend it for a chilled get together to eat good meat at a good price.
Always gorgeous. The steak is just incredible. The sides are gorgeous, service is lovely. We come here all the time and it's far superior to the likes of Gaucho etc. Incredibly good value with the deal on Monday nights or 25% off before 7pm - I do find though you often have to ask as they don't seem to automatically add that to the bill which it's a bit of a pity.
Have just introduced yet another set of friends to our local gem. Not a budget meal, perhaps, but always superb - a must for carnivores whilst still offering tasty alternatives for veg and fish-eaters.
Outstanding experience as always. A treat every time.
Fun place, great for dog lovers and kids. Great food. Buzzy atmosphere.
Cannot fault The Butcher + Grill, I would eat here everyday if I could! The food is delicious whether you are having breakfast, brunch, lunch or supper and the staff are brilliant.
I cannot find a negative word to say about the place, it is my favourite restaurant. and have been many times and each time is faultless.
Enjoyable spot for everything from breakfast through dinner. Back of restaurant backs onto a wharf packed with houseboats so it makes for a pretty interesting vista, particularly in summer when the doors are open and there are tables outside. Wine list is interesting in that there are some unusual options but not particularly extensive. Steaks are obviously the big draw. This is a relaxing venue that doesn't take itself too seriously.
The food here is excellent. Quality of ingredients are high and hey on couldn't have a very good chef!
Ambience could be better, if only they would put tablecloths on the dining tables - this would make such a difference. It seems to be a dying tradition...
Go here for the meat - superb!
The food is good but some dishes are quite expensive for what they are, for example ham egg and chips costs £12.50. The biggest problem is the waiting time for food because the restaurant does deliveroo and U ear eats deliveries and it seems like these are prioritised. Also, the ambiance is not particularly great due to constant queuing of the delivery drivers to pick up take away. Essentially it feels like you are surrounded by people dressed up in motorcycle gear as you are trying to have dinner.
I booked a table here for hungry friends who had been swinging in trees all afternoon in Battersea Park at Going Ape. The restaurant is just down the road. I liked the idea of great quality meat sourced for the butchers and cooked on site, imagining that this restaurant could really cook meat well. The restaurant was very empty and I wonder if the deli is more popular for lunch. We were seated outside the back of the restaurant, overlooking the water and a couple of barges. Very pleasant. The service was really great which was fortunate. We ordered a cured British meat platter which was good. Venison salami, home made bresaola with air dried ham, served with delicious piccalilli. However, I ordered rib of beef for 2 and requested medium rare. Unfortunately, it came back very overcooked, so we had to send it back. The others in our party had burger and pork ribs, both of which they enjoyed. We had to wait another 20mins while a new rib was cooked but it was then very underdone, pretty much blue. By then we were so hungry that we started eating it but then sent the carved meat back to get some more cooking time. Our conclusion was that the chef doesn't know how to cook steak, which in a speciality meat restaurant, is not good. The waitress waived some of the items on the bill but sadly not enough to persuade me to ever go back. All my party agreed.
Absolutely love it here. Food is glorious and especially the steak on a Monday. Dog friendly too
One of the best Sunday roasts in London. The roast meat is exceptional quality and you get a great selection of veg, plus Yorkshire pudding. Skip the starter and have a pudding if you can manage it after the big roast dinner !
