The Butchers Arms
Our 16th century Public House is situated on Lime Street in the parish of Eldersfield near Gloucester.
The Butchers Arms is first and foremost a rural pub, where the bar is the hub of life, with low ceilings, wooden floors, roaring fires and real ale served straight from the cask.
The food is British and we source only the finest ingredients from local suppliers. The menu constantly changes according to what is in season.
Please note that as it is a small pub and we are unable to cater for children under the age of 10.

Amazing food and really friendly. Will definitely be recommending the butchers arms and visiting again
Such a beautiful place, the service was exception and the food was so yummy I just wanted to eat it all over again!
Lovely restaurant with great food and customer service.
Overall this pub/restaurant has improved with the new owners;. Staff are very friendly and helpful, food is fantastic - great produce cooked perfectly. Not a huge choice but we prefer quality over quantity. Good wine list and great atmosphere. We had a fabulous evening and will definitely return.
A fantastic meal with sublime food! The waitresses were very friendly and attentive and the ambiance of the restaurant was very relaxed and intimate as there is only a handful of tables available to book. There is a great selection of Gins with some brilliant local beers available.
An amazing experience, cant wait to go back!
We had a lovely time, truly looked after, with attention to detail. This included the service, the food, the quality of the drinks and the birthday confetti.
Great attentive service fantastic food loaded with flavour delicious
Excellent food and atmosphere. A very warm and attentive welcome. Food such good value!
Fantastic every time we go there from the food to service to venue. 10/10. We'll definetly come again and again.
A fantastic meal. A tucked away gem that’s a must visit.
It's an absolute joy to dine here. The food is excellent and the front of house lady is a true asset. Th efood is cooked by a chef who obviously enjoys what he does and I shall certainly be returning.
Excellent food, great service and a lovely setting . I would recommend.
Warm welcome and excellent service due to the small number of covers. Limited menu which I prefer.
The salt cod scotch egg was a delicious starter and the cod loin (served with chickpeas) was cooked to perfection but we thought there were rather a lot of chickpeas! We will go again.
We ordered 3, med/rare steaks which were nice but sadly all items were cool upon arrival so went cold very quickly. Disappointed.
Lovely welcome, lovely lunch, great service and food.
Excellent food, can't be faulted well worth the journey. Very friendly and welcoming staff.
Excellent food and service as always. Lovely welcome.
Excellent quality choice of a small yet very interesting menu and fab country pub surroundings. Great family service. Highly recommend.
Our first visit to The Butchers Arms was a real success. The welcome was warm, we were advised we had the table for the evening and they easily accommodated an extra two people for the meal at 1 hours notice. The service was excellent-attentive without being overbearing. It doesn't take much to smile, but some people find it difficult-not here however as all teh waiting staff were friendly, approachable and happy. The food came out as and when we wanted, was hot and very flavoursome. Although the menu is quite limited, the choice was good and everyone struggled to decide what to eat because all of the dishes sounded appetising. Everyone commented that their food was tasty and woudl visit again as they wanted to taste something esle from the menu. Further, the wine list was also not extensive, but the bottle of Marlborough Sauvignon we had was beautifully dry and a very reasonable price.
It is definitely somewhere we will visit again.
the only down side was when we arrived, as this is a bar, it ws quite loud and as the pub is very samll, the noise level at first was quite high. However, this did dissipate quite quickly and everyone enjoyed the evening and a very tasty meal with excellent service.
We loved the Butchers Arms, in spite of living in the area we hadn’t visited before. We will definitely be back!
The food was absolutely outstanding, definitely worth the drive. Service was friendly, welcoming and quick. Definitely value for money! They even went to the effort of putting 50th birthday confetti on the table as it was for my partners birthday. We couldn’t fault anything, will be going back and recommending to family and friends I cannot praise it highly enough!
Lovely surroundings. Very friendly pleasant staff. Relaxed informal atmosphere. Top notch food. Little expensive but quality of food excellent so don’t mind paying. Well worth a visit. Will definitely be returning.
It was a lovely summer’s evening, and we had a wonderful time. The food, the staff, the drink, the place, all excellent. We’ll go again.
Fabulous food & service. The menu was small but adequate. Very reasonably priced for quality food. They offer a set meal which is good value. Will certainly visit again.
The Winters, who ran the Butchers Arms very successfully until earlier this year, were always going to be a difficult act to follow. But Mark and Jo-Anne Block seem to be making a pretty good fist of it on the evidence of yesterday’s meal. There have been a few changes, notably the introduction of a fixed price (£21 or £23) menu, which is incredibly good value, since the price also includes a glass of one of the excellent house wines. So, the blow to the pocket has been softened a bit, but with no visible loss of quality. For starters, three of us chose a baked portion of goats cheese with mixed beetroots, pine nuts and olive oil, which received high praise all round, and the other had the cold pea soup, which was a very successful summer dish on a hot day. We all plumped for the baked sea bream fillet with new potatoes, samphire and gooseberry compote, the latter perfectly complementing the fish, which was very fresh, and beautifully cooked. Paths diverged a bit on the desserts, where a couple of us had summer berries and elderflower jelly, and the others the salted caramel ice cream with honeycomb. Altogether, this seemed to us to be evidence of very confident and assured cooking, The short wine list, which is very similar to what was on offer previously, was carefully chosen and reasonably priced, and we particularly enjoyed the Rueda, which went really well with the meal choices. Service, from Jo-Anne and a colleague was excellent, and we went away very happy that the change of ownership had been so successfully accomplished.
We enjoyed a delicious meal from start to finish. The restaurant is truly a little gem tucked away in the hills, and well worth our 30 minute drive! The service was friendly, warm, and helpful. Portions were generous and prices were reasonable. And the flavors were excellent! We look forward to our return.
The food is excellent and the Pub is set in a lovely location, the staff are very friendly and knowledgable - if you love good food, then this is a must for a visit
Have been here many times before, and hope to go again many times. Always enjoy the wonderful food that is so creatively and beautifully cooked.
Friendly and relaxed. Impeccable food and service. Impossible to fault.
The food was very good and although the chef uses local produce to good effect, it is not as adventurous as under the previous owners. The service was attentive and friendly. It is a local pub and some of the folks at the bar do talk rather loudly so quiet conversation can be challenging at times. We will certainly come again.
Friendly and attentive but not intrusive staff, very willing to make your visit enjoyable. Lovely food, accommodated a nut allergy . Will definitely return soon.
We were a party of 6 friends who all throughly enjoyed dinner at the Butchers Arms. We went mid week & all chose from the set menu which is excellent value for top quality food and offered a good varied selection of dishes to choose from.
Most definitely recommend The Butchers and will definitely be going back.
A very pleasant dinner with good food. Not Outstanding, but no issues, very pleasant.
Excellent. Simple menu but all cooked to perfection. Totally delicious.
Excellent food and warm and friendly service. Made a special effort for my husbamd’s birthday meal
What s delightful wonderful place . Thank you for a lovely evening, great setting, delicious food and brilliant friendly service
We had a lovely evening at this tiny pub restaurant.. Under new management since January, (Mark was cooking until now at Bluebird and the Granary at King’s Cross) we really appreciated the excellent fresh menu. Only a few options but all delicious and seasonal.Service could not have been better. Very relaxed atmosphere. Good luck Joanne and Mark.
A very welcoming dining experience, the owners were very warm and took time to have some conversation with me and my wife. Food was well worth the Michelin star it has been awarded.
Best meal we have had in ages.
Quality ingredients beautifully cooked and presented.
I had a thoroughly enjoyable birthday meal
Would recommend to anyone who is a foodie
Excellent food and service. Totally worths the drive! Friendly atmosphere and down to earth prices.
