The Butchers Arms
Our 16th century Public House is situated on Lime Street in the parish of Eldersfield near Gloucester.
The Butchers Arms is first and foremost a rural pub, where the bar is the hub of life, with low ceilings, wooden floors, roaring fires and real ale served straight from the cask.
The food is British and we source only the finest ingredients from local suppliers. The menu constantly changes according to what is in season.
Please note that as it is a small pub and we are unable to cater for children under the age of 10.
Tue - Sat: 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Extremely welcoming and cosy, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The food was delightful from beginning of the starter to the end of the desert. Can't wait to go back.
We love eating at the Butchers Arms although we reserve this for very special occasions. It is friendly, with understated decor which feels both warm and homely. The food is exceptional and is so delicious. We will be back next summer for our birthdays! Thank you Jen for your lovely welcome and for looking after us so well too.
Lovely cosy little pub. Very friendly and efficient service without being obtrusive. Food was on the pricey side but outstanding quality.
Once again another warm welcome and very lovely dining experience. It was the perfect evening for a catch up with a very good friend.
This place is highly recommended, however you should always remember to book well in advance as it is very popular and not massive.....but you will not be disappointed.
Lovely tasty food in a warm and cosy Christmasy setting. Very welcoming friendly staff.
Will definitely return
Just perfect for a family lunch. Could not be faulted.
We had a fantastic meal defiantly be back again. Service and food was exceptional.
We had an amazing time. The food was out of this world. The service from Jo and her team was outstanding.
It's lovely to continue to revisit the Butchers Arms and know that their menu regularly changes with seasonal produce and they continuous offer delicious, mouthwatering dishes.
Superb service, ambience and above all the food.
The meal we had was exquisite - duck terrine, shoulder of lamb and rhubarb crumble. Delicate flavours and generous portions.
We will definitely return and the food and drink is very highly recommended.
Although a little difficult to find especially in the dark, the Butchers Arms is well worth the effort and would be difficult to beat.
Really off the beaten track. Service exceptional, food a tad disappointing but still good.
Go if you’re passing
Excellent food and friendly and accommodating service - highly recommended
charming little Gem hidden away off the beaten track.
The food was perfect. Great attention to detail no request was too much to ask for. Michelin star worthy! What a cosy venue on a winters day near the fire. It was a perfect meal with freinds. Every dish was well thought out and none were a disappointment.
A fabulous restaurant/pub, lovely atmosphere, lovely hosts, greeted upon arrival by name. Food good, maybe a tad expensive, but amazing cuisine and as local ingredients and cooked to order. would definitely recommend and we will be going back. we did Sunday lunch, which was lovely going to try and evening next time!
Really enjoyable evening. Warm welcome, lovely staff and attentive service, perfect balance of flavours in everything we tried. Everyone loved it. Cosy and atmospheric. Moon in the window. A real birthday treat. Looking forward to coming again for lunch.
thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. tip top attention to detail from arriving in the car park to the big smiles when we opened the door to go in. Lovely service and really great food. This place deserves all the praise for making an absolute gem of a place - we are going back soon!
Great Wine and Beer
My Daughters 18th Birthday took place at the Butchers Arms, what a splendid and memorable evening it was.
The food, quality taste and sight was simply sublime and they made a special desert for the birthday girl.
My huge thanks to all that made this a very lovely night and I’m already looking forward to going back again soon.
Amazing food and really friendly. Will definitely be recommending the butchers arms and visiting again
Such a beautiful place, the service was exception and the food was so yummy I just wanted to eat it all over again!
Lovely restaurant with great food and customer service.
Overall this pub/restaurant has improved with the new owners;. Staff are very friendly and helpful, food is fantastic - great produce cooked perfectly. Not a huge choice but we prefer quality over quantity. Good wine list and great atmosphere. We had a fabulous evening and will definitely return.
A fantastic meal with sublime food! The waitresses were very friendly and attentive and the ambiance of the restaurant was very relaxed and intimate as there is only a handful of tables available to book. There is a great selection of Gins with some brilliant local beers available.
An amazing experience, cant wait to go back!
We had a lovely time, truly looked after, with attention to detail. This included the service, the food, the quality of the drinks and the birthday confetti.
Great attentive service fantastic food loaded with flavour delicious
Excellent food and atmosphere. A very warm and attentive welcome. Food such good value!
Fantastic every time we go there from the food to service to venue. 10/10. We'll definetly come again and again.
A fantastic meal. A tucked away gem that’s a must visit.
It's an absolute joy to dine here. The food is excellent and the front of house lady is a true asset. Th efood is cooked by a chef who obviously enjoys what he does and I shall certainly be returning.
Excellent food, great service and a lovely setting . I would recommend.
Warm welcome and excellent service due to the small number of covers. Limited menu which I prefer.
The salt cod scotch egg was a delicious starter and the cod loin (served with chickpeas) was cooked to perfection but we thought there were rather a lot of chickpeas! We will go again.
We ordered 3, med/rare steaks which were nice but sadly all items were cool upon arrival so went cold very quickly. Disappointed.
Lovely welcome, lovely lunch, great service and food.
Excellent food, can't be faulted well worth the journey. Very friendly and welcoming staff.
Excellent food and service as always. Lovely welcome.
Excellent quality choice of a small yet very interesting menu and fab country pub surroundings. Great family service. Highly recommend.
Our first visit to The Butchers Arms was a real success. The welcome was warm, we were advised we had the table for the evening and they easily accommodated an extra two people for the meal at 1 hours notice. The service was excellent-attentive without being overbearing. It doesn't take much to smile, but some people find it difficult-not here however as all teh waiting staff were friendly, approachable and happy. The food came out as and when we wanted, was hot and very flavoursome. Although the menu is quite limited, the choice was good and everyone struggled to decide what to eat because all of the dishes sounded appetising. Everyone commented that their food was tasty and woudl visit again as they wanted to taste something esle from the menu. Further, the wine list was also not extensive, but the bottle of Marlborough Sauvignon we had was beautifully dry and a very reasonable price.
It is definitely somewhere we will visit again.
the only down side was when we arrived, as this is a bar, it ws quite loud and as the pub is very samll, the noise level at first was quite high. However, this did dissipate quite quickly and everyone enjoyed the evening and a very tasty meal with excellent service.
We loved the Butchers Arms, in spite of living in the area we hadn’t visited before. We will definitely be back!
