About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighbourhood gem
Welcome to the Butchers Arms.

Our 16th century Public House is situated on Lime Street in the parish of Eldersfield near Gloucester.

The Butchers Arms is first and foremost a rural pub, where the bar is the hub of life, with low ceilings, wooden floors, roaring fires and real ale served straight from the cask.

The food is British and we source only the finest ingredients from local suppliers. The menu constantly changes according to what is in season.

Please note that as it is a small pub and we are unable to cater for children under the age of 10.

This is an exception to my 'never post reviews' rule Seven of us recently enjoyed a superb lunch at The Butchers. Forewarned of food intolerances Jo had printed adjusted menus for two of our party, My first Steak Tartare won't be my last, all the main courses were exceptional and the Souffle is to die for. We topped it all off with glasses of pudding wine followed by 'cheese for the table' and Port What's not to like We shall return

Another excellent meal on a punishingly hot day. Two of us had the monkfish, which came with a very well judged saffron sauce, mussels, creamed potatoes and broccoli (rather then asparagus as advertised). The other tucked in to the sirloin and braised beef shin, with French fries and broccoli. For dessert, we all enjoyed the baked Alaska with fruit compote and ice cream - just right for the weather. Service was very friendly, prompt and efficient.

In a beautiful garden setting , it’s a great friendly pub - excellent food served by lovely staff who make it clear what ‘welcome’ really means. A surprisingly diverse wine list makes eating out here a special treat.

A great place. Food is magnificent. A bit pricy but you get what you pay for and this is exceptionally good. Worth a splurge once in a while.

Excellent service and every one of us really enjoyed our meals. My friend is coeliac and was delighted to get his own gluten-free freshly baked bread. We will definitely be back soon. It’s the perfect venue for quality food on a special occasion with a relaxed atmosphere.

Excellent meal for 4 has last Saturday. Greeted nicely on arrival and well attended throughout. Food was excellent, Butty Bach beer was well kept and the pub is what you would expect from a country pub down to the cobbles and country lane. Looking forward to coming again.
