The Butchers Arms
Our 16th century Public House is situated on Lime Street in the parish of Eldersfield near Gloucester.
The Butchers Arms is first and foremost a rural pub, where the bar is the hub of life, with low ceilings, wooden floors, roaring fires and real ale served straight from the cask.
The food is British and we source only the finest ingredients from local suppliers. The menu constantly changes according to what is in season.
Please note that as it is a small pub and we are unable to cater for children under the age of 10.

Friendly staff and beautiful food! Was recommended the Butchers Arms for an anniversary celebration, it did not disappoint! Great vegetarian selection, butternut squash was gorgeous. Would definitely come again!
Fantastic staff, really friendly welcome and attentive. Food and beer was excellent, can't recommend highly enough.
Amazing from start to finish!

The menu is fantastic, could have eaten everything that was on it!
This warm and inviting restaurant was an excellent choice for a birthday celebration. The service was excellent and helpful in adapting the menu to my daughter's dietary requirements. The food was delicious and it was great to have a candle in my dessert.
Lovely place food was great and fantastic service great team making you feel very welcome
This is a real diamond in the countryside. Food is out of this world. Always made to feel at home when we visit. Kids also love the menus. You will not be disappointed.
Great service and gorgeous food in a lovely setting
Wonderful experience and exceptional food. In spite of COVID, the experience was full and their friendliness and hospitality was very comforting and their adherence to safety was spot on. The balance of flavours, the quality of each ingredient and presentation were all elegant and excellent. From the first batch of bread, through the gorgeous scotch egg and heavenly venison on a bed of red cabbage and cauliflower purée, Even down to the oat cake for the sourced cheese board ...
Booked The Butchers Arms for a special birthday lunch having not been there for many years. Everything about our experience was excellent, lovely staff who were very friendly and welcoming on arrival and during service, excellent food...absolutely delicious! It surpassed our expectations. We would definitely recommend The Butchers Arms.
Really good food in a lovely traditional country pub setting. The menu is not extensive but what they do they do very well. A good selection of starters and deserts. We tried the roast pork and venison and both mains were delicious and very well cooked. The crackling was perfect. Would welcome the addition of a lighter/vegetarian option but apart from that very happy to recommend the Butchers Arms
Really great lunch with lovely service.
As always friendly staff and excellent food. Couldn’t fault it and will be back
Our meal was wonderful and service excellent, a nice atmosphere and plenty of space between tables.
Will will definitely return.
A lovely meal and fantastic atmosphere and service - well worth a visit and we'll be back
The best food for miles. Worth a drive to get here. The use of fresh ingredients is on par with the best and finest places the world over. Set in a beautiful old world pub and surrounded by a wonderful landscape. I love taking people to The Butchers Arms, I love seeing the joy on their faces when they get to share in it.
Really great food and fabulous service thank you

pity as there was little on the menu my wife would eat not the fault of the restaurant but it spoiled the evening
Great food in a pretty pub.
Exceptional quality and attention to detail for a delicious Sunday lunch.

The Butchers Arms was a superb dining venue for us. The menu was interesting and we enjoyed every course - the Monkish and the Venison were both a delight. The wine list is interesting and clearly well though out. We definitely believe this a five-star experience, one of the few times we could happily say this. You must make as booking; although it's a fair drive it's clearly very popular, and we can see why!! We applaud the chef for the design of the signature dishes throughout.
Delicious food, well presented. Spoilt for choice on the menu which was small (maybe 5 starters, 6 mains) but had a range of fish and meat dishes. Probably not so good for vegetarians.
Great evening had here whilst away for a few days.
Social distanced brilliantly, staff pleasant and attentive and food was spot on!
Lovely starters- crab, and beef tartare, very tasty. My lamb main was slightly overdone , a bit chewy and tasteless served with a long courgette slice which was also overdone, soft and slightly bitter, crushed potatoes under seasoned. Very pricey too.
The service was excellent.
A pleasant evening, with marvellous food. All precautions taken for our safety. The pub is characterful; the food creative and delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful but not obtrusive. I would definitely return - hopefully we can do that again soon.
An excellent meal at a delightful restaurant with lovely staff.
Excellent food and location. Worth the effort to find it.
Lovely lunch time treat for my sister. Food and service could not be faulted. We will be back again.
The food was exceptional and very attentive to my dietary requirements too (coeliac)

Our first time eating out with our friends since lockdown.
As always, The Butchers Arms was as good as ever. The food was delicious, the ambience just right.
Looking forward to our next visit.

We had a lovely meal here after being recommended by a friend. The food was outstanding and we both had a great evening, a little hidden gem!

Friendly welcome. Tables well spaced but seemed perfectly normal. Interesting menu. Starters looked good but I can’t handle 3 courses anymore so we opted for main and dessert. The cod with mussels was outstanding. Dessert of damson was good too.
Next time maybe 2 starters and a dessert?
Will definitely return.

The service was fantastic They were all helpful and courteous and knew our names the second we walked in. I liked the setting/location but be interested to see it during the day. Food was good too
Can't fault the food or service here. Always willing to vary a meal to suit any specific needs. Go and try it. You won't be disappointed.
Lovely welcome, prompt service, lovely food. The management and staff made a big effort to ensure we had a good experience in these strange times.

We had a lovely dinner at The Butcher's Arms. Considering the current COVID situation the entire process was still very seamless and enjoyable. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious!
