Incredible service. The waiter remembered us from our last visit and had a birthday card waiting for my husband at our table. It's at the more expensive end of our normal budget but well worth it for a special occasion. The food is awesome, the right quantity and excites a "Wow" when you taste it. If you want something special this is the place to go !!!

Lovely meal and service. We expected that the silver service would have been discontinued in these Covid times but were disappointed that the beautiful white tablecloths were missing from the tables. This really affected the whole look of the dining room! Thankfully the white linen napkins were still being used. Otherwise we had a fabulous meal and enjoyed sitting in the lovely garden with our pre-dinner drinks.

We have been going to the Butchers Arms for 40 years + in our opinion it has lost the atmosphere we previously enjoyed, the food is still very good but we were very disappointed when we took some friends with the overall experience and the standard of service has also fallen We were always greeted on arrival and made very welcome but not anymore

Our first visit to The Butcher's Arms for lunch, where they have a set menu but full of variety. My friend and I tried a number of options between us and all were delightful. We appreciated the fact there was no pressure to hurry through the meal - nicely paced. My friend is in a wheelchair and all my effort to move her up and down access ramps was swiftly taken over by two gentlemen of the staff which was very kind of them. Altogether a lovely setting for an excellent lunch.

I took my son who was over here on holiday from New Zealand to the Butchers Arms for lunch. We were both well pleased with our meal although the octopus my son had was a bit on the tough side. However, overall the food was delicious and we will certainly go back.

Went here for an evening meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our son had bought a voucher for the meal which is a great idea. The exterior of the building is beautiful and the interior has been beautifully restored without losing any of the character. The staff were friendly and welcoming, service was excellent, the food was really lovely and excellently cooked. An extensive wine list gave us lots of choice. We even had an anniversary card on our table, a thoughtful gesture. We would definitely go again.

It was just a perfect Sunday Lunch. Excellent choice of courses. Polite and experienced staff who served excellent food and drinks in a very warm and concerned fashion. The restaurant was full with a nice warm atmosphere as if you were eating at home with friends. Thank you too for the lovely Birthday card on the table, very nice touch.

Very chilly bar area when ordering dinner. Miserable staff, faces like thunder. Young waiting staff not motivated at all. Tepid soup, cold broccoli on plate. We ordered seasonal veg and more broccoli and carrots covered in seeds arrived which were also cold. My husband cant eat seeds so he didn't get much veg. Very slow service. Very expensive for what we had. The best bit was crem brulee. My husband had orange cake and he said it was tacky. Won't go back for a long time.

Our table was booked at 2pm we sat down at 2.35pm and still had no food at 2.50pm asked for some bread / olives or something which was given to us but just enough for one small piece for the 5 of us but only knob of butter, another bread delivery did arrive without us having to ask but with no butter. Our starters arrived at 3pm which were lovely but were missing the restaurants signature Melba toast!! I asked if they still did it and the server confirmed Oh Yes do you want some, I said no thank you as we were now waiting for our mains but at the begining when we first sat down would have been nice. When the main roast dinners arrived again presentation was poor all dumped on one small plate. In the past they would have brought the plates out with the meat and yorkshire puddings and would then serve a selection of vegetables and gravy. Unfortunately the gravy was like water, the veg very over cooked and the meat full of fat all very disappointing. We decided to cut our losses and miss desert. The staff new things weren't going well as they very kindly supplied us with a round of alcohol free gins. I am just so disappointed as this once was a go to special place for our family but no more!!

Food was good. Disappointed to be given crumpled paper menus upon arrival, clearly well handled by previous guests. Not really in line with the style / price of the restaurant. White wine was placed far from the table; the waiters did not pour it. We had to get up, look for it and serve ourselves Plates removed while we were still eating.

Wonderful food and wine. A strange ambience for a summer evening. The window tables section was not used, it would have been nice to see the gardens. And the inner area which was used had quite flat bright lighting. In this area some lower lights and candles would make for a very romantic setting.

As per usual we were given a table that was within the quieter area of the restaurant which was reasonable busy. The service was excellent as was the food. A very enjoyable evening was had by us both and we will defiantly be back in the near future.

The food is amazing, as it always has been. It was disappointing to see that we now have to pay for the melba toast, which was always provided on the table. This place is a "special occasion" venue for us. As it's quite expensive, it's not something we can do too often. We will definitely go again, when the event demands that level of quality.
