The food was poor in flavour and size. The bill was wrong and we had to point out we hadn’t had items on the bill. I would maybe go for a drink but I wouldn’t eat there again.
The Castle has retained its old charm under the new management. The lighting is perfect and the windows overlooking a busy street are a delight. The staff were welcoming and attentive. I shall certainly go again.
Hi Jean, thanks for your great review and kind words, we hope to see you again soon.
Good food and drink selection, service was friendly and efficient
Great lunchtime venue in an old English pub serving local beers.
Quiet business lunch in a central Oxford location. Friendly staff and the booking via OpenTable worked well.
Went to Oxford for the weekend and we were just looking for somewhere near to our apartment with good food. Great burgers, great chips, really thick batter on the fish and chips, and really lovely staff, with a good knowledge on all the food and drink
Took ages to get the food (well over an hour) and then it was over cooked.
We had a lovely time , food was good , we wanted a roast but it had ran out , but the food we had was lovely , it was nice seeing an old friend (brookton) we were made very welcome , and will definitely go again 😘
Good value and great service. Will go again when in Oxford.
Food was very good, chips delicious, very slow service I would order food before the drinks. Will be going back as the food quality was excellent.
Most favourite pub in Oxford, always great service and food. Love the new menu.
Despite booking, our table was not available when we arrived. As there were 5 of us, we were disappointed to be sat on 2 tables and not all together.
Food took a while to come, and was dry & overcooked, but we’ve certainly had worse elsewhere.
Decor was high standard and ambience was good with a good selection of ales.
