The Cat and Custard Pot
A three-mile radius encompasses Westonbirt Arboretum and Westonbirt school, Highgrove gardens, and the Beaufort polo club. Badminton and Gatcombe horse trials are both within easy reach. We are 24 miles from the Roman spa town of Bath and from the city of Bristol, both with their many attractions. Cheltenham races are 34 miles from the Cat.
Apart from these attractions, we are in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with many wonderful walks direct from our front door. We welcome well-behaved dogs.

The food was great, with very good and friendly service. The new outside area was perfect, sheltered but still catching the evening sun.
Had a lovely evening and fab pizza.
The new outside area is very cosy and inviting.
Enjoyed the new outside space and the pizzas were delicious. As always good beer and friendly service
The new outdoor area is fantastic. I expect it will be an asset not just for safe dining but wet dining.
New garden terrace is lovely. Great pizzas and service
Good food, friendly welcoming staff, pretty outside space
A stunning venture with incredible food! We will be back.
Really good pizza, fresh and so tasty.
The back outside area is done so well.
Starters and puddings were lovely too.
Very rich brownie.
Harry was a wonderful server! Would visit again just to meet him. Outdoor dining was very nice on the large patio. Pizza was delicious.
Brilliant pizza, well done for getting the new terrace built!
The food was delicious and the staff very helpful and friendly. We will be back!
Not been here for a few years. Great experience safe feeling ref Covid. Food very good excellent Steak. Rose wine a disappointment. Overall will return again
easy to book via Open table and called to say running late due to motorway closure - very understanding and relaxed about it. Welcoming warm fire and lovely décor upon arrival. Tables are well spaced for social distancing and almost felt like we had the pub to ourselves. Our host was very genial and chatty, explained in detail about what was available on wine and food menu. My friend and I both had the mushroom wellington as no veggie roast available - we thought it was an excellent meal. Not enough room for pudding unfortunately and we could not linger due to heading to Westonbirt for Christmas lights. Have decided we would like to return to try for pudding as well next time! Highly recommended as relaxed atmosphere with great food.
Roast dinner was very disappointing; poor roast potatoes and yorkshire puds with dark, powdered, instant gravy - it all felt like it had been kept under a heat lamp too long and was hard/dry. Kids meals were huge and too expensive. £5 for two scoops of ice cream didn't feel like a fair price.
All portions were enormous but it would have been better if there was less food of better quality.
Overall, it felt very expensive for the quality of the food that we received. Service was good.
Lovely meal. Could not fault anything about the evening
Lovely meal again, good service. Would of like a bit more choice for starters but otherwise great evening.
One of my favourite gastropubs in the area, the menu has something for everyone. The food in general is very good, we’ve eaten here a number of times, and the staff are lovely, we will be back!
Great meal out - had a room to ourselves, which was perfect for the dogs !
Good covid measurements in place so you feel safe. We’ve enjoyed our food very much on our last two visits.
First class food, setting and service
Very nice staff
Food and service excellent. Covid awareness first class. Will make the drive from WSM to Shipton Moyne again once the current situation is over.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the staff were excellent
Lovely little place to eat, drink and sleep; very chilled and relaxing
Excellent pub, food and service was great, Will definitely be going back again. Well worth the 40 minute drive.
Very covid conscious. We felt very safe. The food was nicely presented and very tasty. The prices were reasonable.
Excellent food. Topped off a great day out with the family.
Easy place for an enjoyable lunch. Mostly if not all home prepared, and suitable portion sizes. Plenty of space for distancing. Friendly service.
Great choice of reasonably priced, good quality, food and drinks. Service was excellent and the setting very clean and full of character. Would definitely visit again.
Varied menu , tasty food and relaxed setting made for a lovely family lunch and chat.
I have previously had a steak on two occasions at the C&C which were both excellent so I was tempted again. Unfortunately my steak this time was poor and almost inedible with gristle throughout. The best the chef could do was offer me a free cup of coffee.
Food was great (homemade hummus was excellent) and the waiting staff were brilliant. Atmosphere was a bit lacking - it was busy but not bustling, and there was no background music which we would have preferred.
Limited menu and a few items sold out, but the meals ordered were fantastic and very tasty.
We had a lovely lunch prior to visiting the arboretum. Service was friendly and efficient and felt very COVID secure. Unfortunately several of the specials were unavailable but we all enjoyed our meals.
Lovely food. Very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.
All very happy ,food delicious as always. Great busy atmosphere. Perfect
A lovely pub very near to Westonbirt Arboretum. The staff were very welcoming and the service was very good. Excellent food, we had Sunday roast and the salmon options. Very good value and I would definitely recommend
We have a great roast dinner beef was excellent . Staff friendly and pub very well organised dealing with social distancing . Would definitely return again and recommend to all my friends.
Delicious Sunday roast! Huge portion including an amazing Yorkshire pudding. I did wish they had served the gravy separately but otherwise highly recommend!
