About The Cathay Rendezvous
The Cathay Rendezvous is a well-established Chinese restaurant on King Street, Bristol’s oldest thoroughfare. Behind the elegant 18th century facade is a series of rooms on two floors. Named after the collection of world-famous Nanking Cango porcelain on display, the main royal blue-coloured dining space is the Nanking Room. The extensive menu broadly covers the main culinary traditions of China - Mandarin, Cantonese and Szechuan - with main courses usually satisfying most taste buds and hunger levels… aromatic crispy duck, soft shell crab, Canton fillet steak flambe. Those who prefer to have their decision made for them, the set menus can be relied on. The Sunday lunch ‘eat as much as you like for £13.95 special is popular.

The Cathay Rendezvous Ratings and Reviews
The attentiveness of the staff was amazing. My wife is Gluten intolerant; which might usually be a challenge in a Chinese Restaurant. However, the staff really wen out of their way to ensure that she was happy with her menu choices. (And the food was amazing too !)
We have visited this restaurant before and as on previous occasions the food was excellent and so was the service. The staff are friendly and attentive and make dining in here a great night out. The restaurant is also close to the theatre and music venues in the city .
Firstly, We were impressed by the historical building, and the food was amazing. Waiting staff were very friendly, they treat us like friends. A lovely lady told us this is a family run independent restaurant. I think that was why they were so welcoming.
We will definetfly come again and recommend it to our friends.
Myself and my fiancé hadn't been here for a long time. So we decided to see if it was still as great as before. We weren't disappointed. Great food, service was great and the meal was really nice and tasty. You do pay a little more than the larger restaurants, but you do get a better all round package. We won't leave so long next time!
Staff very attentive and accommodating, food excellent, great premises. My first visit here, with limited time available, but I will definitely be back to give full justice to the menu and to enjoy further the superb cooking, presentation and service.
Very friendly staff, who couldn't do enough to ensure we had a lovely meal. We only went for mains as they serve a generous amount, but it is also very delicious! We booked and were seated straight away. Service was quick and overall a lovely restaurant. We will definitely go back!
We had a table for the Sunday Buffet for 4 adults. The portions were very generous and the food was delicious. The service was excellent. We look forward to eating here again and would recommend Cathay Rendezvous to friends and family.
Our first time here with family and friends. Service was fantastic, food amazing, really good portions, hot and very tasty. Our friends arrived just as we were finishing our Starters. They put their order in for Mains - and it all came at the same time.
I only realised after I left that I hadn't left a tip - hence writing this review. I would definitely go back again.
our visit to the Sunday buffet was very enjoyable. However when I paid the final bill I said no to paying the service charge as my guests had left a collective gratuity on the table. When I got home and looked at my card receipt and although it said gratuities 0.00 I had still paid them. This meant that we paid 10% service charge plus the money on the table.
An excellent dinner with friendly and efficient service. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly without being over powering. The restaurant was busy but this did not detract from the ambience, quality of food, quick service and attentive staff when required.
As always, we enjoyed the food and the service was really excellent - thoughtful but not intrusive.
However, the room was very cold and the heating seemed not to be working properly. I'm afraid this spoilt the evening for some of us, and we would be unhappy to recommend the restaurant during the winter months for this reason.
Whilst the service was quick the food was very ordinary, the crispy duck was very dry and the other dishes bland. we were sat at the back of the restaurant which was a bit gloomy as the blind was drawn on the window presumably to hide an uninteresting view. I'm sure the atmosphere would be better in the evening.
