The Cellar Door
There are multiple rooms and floors to provide options for outdoor dining, private dining and larger group bookings.
The food is designed to match the relaxed dining environment, with the main focus on the use of seasonal and local produce, with menus changing monthly to reflect the freshest produce available. A 2 and 3 course set menu is available on a lunchtime and presents the opportunity for extremely good value for money, along with an a la carte menu running all day. Perfect for special occasions as well as regular relaxed dining.
Two of my party had not eaten in The Cellar Door before but the general consensus was that the food was exquisite. The waiter was very attentive also which enhanced the overall experience.
Food was excellent and couldn’t be faulted, although the setting could be a bit more upscale. Also the heat was poor in the restaurant for this time of year
Me and partner went there for a date and we both enjoyed it, it was a bit loud at times and the service was a bit slow here and there but overall can't complain.
We chose this restaurant to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary and wanted something special and different it certainly filled all our expectations 😀
The food was excellent and the quality was perfection 🥰
The staff were extremely friendly and the ambient atmosphere was wonderful.
Thank you team Cellar Door 👏👏
Easy to book, confirmed reservation, followed up a couple of days before. Found the entrance before evening visit, by accident or would possibly have walked past as not very inviting or representative of the restaurant, actually quite liked that! Superb team of staff, polite, fun but very professional and helpful.
My 1st course, mackerel tartare was delightful and the duck breast with confit wing in spring roll was just cooked as requested. The red cabbage parcel, wrapped in green cabbage leaf was a it “chewy” but red cabbage lovely. Chocolate fondue with cinder toffee & raspberry crumbs a superb finale.
An unusual white wine from Portugal was a delightful glass and an unknown grape organic red from Avondale SA, was excellent and fairly priced.
Enjoyed the meal
The food was absolutely delicious, great wine list.
Very atmospheric and the staff were lovely pollute and attentive.
Came here for a Sunday roast and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The highlight has to be the food, every course was well presented and tasted amazing. Will be coming back ASAP!
Sunday lunch was amazing!
Setting beautiful and service impeccable.
Best roast I've ever had! Menu had amazing choices. Amazing vegan options for my partner. Lovely ambience, friendly and efficient service. Not one negative!!
Food was fantastic and great selection on the menu. Service was great and really attentive.
Only minor comment is that starters and main course were very quick so we’d virtually finished them within an hour of arriving.
A lovely meal with very friendly staff. Our a starters of soufflé & salmon were great. Our mains were a bit more variable. Lamb was fab. Duck was a little sinewy. Pudding was simply divine. Drinks were good value compared to London.
Overall a great meal.
Had a great meal with friends. The service was excellent as was the food. Every dish was wonderfully put together with some amazing and complimentary flavours.
Husband’s birthday celebration. Fabulous food and staff. We were asked to move tables which was disappointing as they could have used a table other than ours to make a table for 6.
A lovely Durham experience. Friendly service, great presentation and delicious food which was perfectly cooked. The meringue dessert was a sight to behold!
I hadn't goats cheese starter and lamb main and it was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend
Our second visit in a few years. Restaurant was busy and well attended.
Staff allowed us to have an alternative table - the one initially suggested was by the stairs and would not have been particularly relaxing. Staff were friendly & knowledgeable, but we felt the service was a little slow eg 40 minutes between main & dessert - possibly influenced by a large party on the lower floor. The food was varied and well presented - there was plenty of choice on the menu.Whilst we enjoyed most dishes we felt the cooking of the mains had been rushed, eg whilst the duck was pink, the skin needed to be crisper. An enjoyable experience but lacking in the finesse that the prices suggested.
Certainly would the food was exceptional. The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming.
Best food I’ve ever eaten and our server, Elle, was incredible. Cannot recommend enough, it’s outstanding.
The food was delicious and the portions were a good size. Very well presented. I could not recommend this place enough. Staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. Great little gem, well worth a look.
I would like to thank everyone on the team at the Cellar Door. Our food was beautifully presented and very enjoyable. The service was impeccable. We had a really enjoyable lunch and afternoon. We will definitely be returning. Thanks to all
Food was amazing and service was excellent, will definitely be going back.
Delicious food and delightful service - one caveat only- it was a bit noisy
Excellent food at a reasonable price! Lovely space to eat as well.
Food was excellent and we really enjoyed it. Service was great however had to drop a star as there just wasn't enough staff for the work there was to do... we spent a good while without a drink etc but just because not enough staff and lots of tables took a while to be cleared.
Excellent ambience and overall fantastic meal. Thank you the cellar door for a special occasion!
The food was exceptional and the staff very friendly. Really enjoyed it and would absolutely recommend.
The menu was superb and
When our food was served it was impressive and beautifully presented. The quality of the products was very high and tasted fantastic. Truly impressed. Service was spot on. The only comment is that it was a bit chilly but we asked for the air conditioning to be turned off and it was.
Stunning food. but risotto main was a bit on the small side. Desert made up for it though and we left feeling very full. Lovely 'Happy Birthday' surprise at the end of the meal. The all girl front of house crew (especially El) were a delight, efficient and friendly without being too intrusive. We would love to make this our local but we live in Hampshire!
very good dinner with delicious food, especially the duck and chicken supreme
Food was beautifully presented and highly flavoured. The mushroom sauce with the chicken supreme dish was full of mouth watering flavours that a decision to return was definitely made.
Fabulous food especially the beef Wellington
Ideal location for a Uni drop off lunch. Good food and service. Most enjoyable.
Lovely evening. Lovely fresh food and great inventive menu. Lovely staff. We will come back
Great food, interesting menu. excellent customer service, very decent pricing
Great value and excellent food. Location outstanding
Excellent food and service. A really enjoyable evening
It was our first time at the cellar door and it will not be our last food was excellent great value for money. Staff were very pleasant and attentive
Excellent Sunday lunch, beef was gorgeous and the Yorkshire pudding was amazing as always, only small, tiny criticism would be that extra gravy/jus is needed to fully appreciate the Yorkshire pudding. Espresso dessert was divine, nice atmosphere and lovely staff made a really enjoyable lunch.
Excellent imaginative food in a quirky setting. The largest Yorkshire pudding I have ever faced!
Great food. Good staff. Pretty poor ambience. Needs a facelift
