The menu was superb and
When our food was served it was impressive and beautifully presented. The quality of the products was very high and tasted fantastic. Truly impressed. Service was spot on. The only comment is that it was a bit chilly but we asked for the air conditioning to be turned off and it was.
very good dinner with delicious food, especially the duck and chicken supreme
Food was beautifully presented and highly flavoured. The mushroom sauce with the chicken supreme dish was full of mouth watering flavours that a decision to return was definitely made.
Fabulous food especially the beef Wellington
Ideal location for a Uni drop off lunch. Good food and service. Most enjoyable.
Lovely evening. Lovely fresh food and great inventive menu. Lovely staff. We will come back
Great food, interesting menu. excellent customer service, very decent pricing
Great value and excellent food. Location outstanding
Excellent food and service. A really enjoyable evening
It was our first time at the cellar door and it will not be our last food was excellent great value for money. Staff were very pleasant and attentive
Excellent Sunday lunch, beef was gorgeous and the Yorkshire pudding was amazing as always, only small, tiny criticism would be that extra gravy/jus is needed to fully appreciate the Yorkshire pudding. Espresso dessert was divine, nice atmosphere and lovely staff made a really enjoyable lunch.
Excellent imaginative food in a quirky setting. The largest Yorkshire pudding I have ever faced!
Great food. Good staff. Pretty poor ambience. Needs a facelift
Lovely venue , great service with excellent food . Will be back
Lovely little restaurant. The staff were all extremely polite, friendly and very efficient. The food excellent would definitely eat here again when back in Durham.
Food was outstanding. Three course lunch was extremely good value for money. Excellent wine choice. Service excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Comfortable easy-going atmosphere. Food was beautifully served and delicious.
Restaurant could do with a good clean. Of two main dishes , one was excellent. The vegan option however (seitan wellington) was very poor - unpleasant stodge spoiling good pastry. Supposedly roast beetroot was near raw. Haddock scotch egg as starter was however brilliant.
very good meal- Partridge for starters for both of us
followed by the beef wellington for me which was cooked really nicely & the 2 ample slices made it very filling it came with onion rings, truffle chips & jus
My partner opted for the chicken supreme which came with dauphinoise potatoes in a wild mushroom cream sauce which was lovely
we shared a lemon curd, earl grey ice cream & roasted white choclate and meringue which was fab
we shared a bottle of pinot grigio, the cost was £105 , I think for the quality of food and service it was well worth the price, We will certainly come again next time we are in Durham - recommend booking as it was busy for a monday night
Thoroughly enjoyed dining here - good food, wine and service.
Lovely place to eat in centre of Durham. The service staff were excellent. Extremely well informed about the menu and also drinks list, no long waits for food. Quite expensive but it was a special occasion and food was clearly good quality. Only 4 stars for food as I was keen on the smoked mash on the lamb dish, I found it quite salty, and the fondant wasn’t the best I have had but the raspberry cream with it was delicious. My partner had the beef Wellington and throughly enjoyed it. Would definitely go again.
very good restaurant, staff were very attentive and friendly but not overbearing. Food was very good would definitely eat there if visiting Durham again. we were in the little cellar at the back and were grateful there were two other couples in there too otherwise it would seem very out the way....perfect for romantic dinner. However it could have done with some low music in there....seemed like the rest of the restarant was a bit more lively and had more atmosphere because of it.
Still, would definitely recommend to others!
Lovely Sunday lunch. Great value for money and lovely service from Katie. She was really attentive and gave us hints and tips for things to do while visiting Durham
I cannot fault the service at 'The Cellar Door', it was courtesy, efficient and attentive. I must congratulate the management for the service of their staff. The food (Sunday lunch) was delicious, plentiful and great value. Overall a very positive experience. 5*
Great service and great food. Lovely to spend our wedding anniversary there
Thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch at the Cellar Door. Food was delicious, and reasonably priced. The service was thoughtful and attentive without being over-bearing.
Excellent food, friendly and efficient service - will return...
Wonderful food, staff and ambience. Would highly recommend!
Delicious food and excellent service. Wide choice of lovely dishes on each course. Superb value for money.
Lovely food great service and accommodating. But the coffee was tasteless.
A really nice restaurant with great atmosphere. Very good food and friendly professional staff. We dined on the outside terrace whi h was delightful. I think that the fact that staff are wearing face masks made the experience feel safe and gives a very good impression of the standards.
Excellent food and service. Very good value for the standard of the food.
Superb food beautifully presented with attentive staff. Great outdoor seating area too.
a lovely evening sitting outside with good food and wine and good service
Lovely place, food excellent, could not fault any of it.
Service very good, would definitely go back
Great choice of food, staff extremely friendly, the setting is brilliant
Looking for fantastic food, great value and friendly staff it’s all here in a great location too
From the moment we arrived to the time we left we were made to feel totally special. The food and wine was amazing. A wonderful evening.
Second visit to the Cellar Door and I can’t wait to return. The menu is a delight and the food is such a high standard. The service was great, nothing was a bother. I can’t recommend this place high enough
The food was lovely but my steak was slightly more cooked than I generally
Like it but only just.
