Went for an early pre-England euro qualifier dinner on a Monday night. Restaurant was quiet when we arrived but had filled up by the time we left. Good menu with a wide choice of dishes. Nice selection of wine. We both had the pie of the day with mash & veg, and a bottle of Italian red, which we really enjoyed. Good friendly service. Would return in a flash :-)
Delicious Sunday roast dinner - the chunky vegetables were yummy and the gravy was the bomb. All table were full - lucky we booked.
The Chancery was such a great find. We are always looking for gastro-pubs where you can have a great meal over a great bottle of wine and this ticked all of our boxes. The ambience was amazing and the service was awesome too - could not recommend more.
It was ok, solid. Not amazing, not bad
Friendly helpful staff and delicious food. Relaxed atmosphere.
We ate here on a busy Saturday night. They had a couple of parties in but the service was still really good. Couldn't fault the food either - the squid was great, we had duck and sausage & mash for mains and both couldn't resist their desserts! The chocolate brownie was really nice as was the sticky toffee pudding although I suspect it had been microwaved as it was a little rubbery in texture. Would defo go back and recommend.
Consistently excellent in every respect. A thoroughly enjoyable Sunday lunch experience.
Excellent steaks - good value anytime but especially on Tuesday steak evenings. One of our party had steak pie with fresh vegetables and thoroughly enjoyed their meal too.
Revisited the CHancery on a quiet Tuesday evening. We had a very nicely prepared meal. Service was friendly and attentive but not overbearing. If only we could get a table for Sunday lunch - they are just too busy!
Superb - as ever! The Sunday roast at the Chancery can't be bettered.
A delicious roast lunch, plenty of meat, rich gravy, and a very good selection of vegetables. The Yorkshire puddings were huge and very good!
Super friendly efficient service, good value Sunday Roast, fine wine. Would certainly go again, and not necessarily on a Sunday.
Fabulous food served in a really special environment by super friendly staff. What could be better?
Spot on; just what we needed for a special dinner event.
Thanks Katy and well done to your whole team.
We arrived early, before the kitchen opened but were shown to our table and given menus. We needed that extra twenty minutes to make our choices from an excellent selection of food and wines! Great friendly service. We've been here for quick drinks after work, longer leisurely sessions with friends, Christmas 'party' lunch, and quick snacks - always excellent quality and service.
Easter lunch - as ever superb food and despite being really busy, welcoming and friendly service.
Good food, nice atmosphere. Reasonably priced food with friendly service.
The food is outstanding quality and decent portions too. Definitely suggest booking as it gets very busy, especially on a Sunday. You have to try the Yorkshire puddings!
Great food, great service, fab Sunday roast. Delicious veggie option too.
Very nice food and drink. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend.
I went with my sister and this was our first time. We really enjoyed the food and the menu choice was great. In fact the most difficult part of the evening was choosing the food as there was such a great variety of dishes that I liked. The place had a really good vibe, not too noisy as we wanted to catch up and therefore hear our conversation. The staff were so friendly and attentive but not overly so. I will definitely return and may try the Sunday lunch with my family as I have heard good feedback on this.
Very nice roast, home made dessert and the staff are so
Reasonable but bar area can get loud
Low key dinner with friends. Small gastro pub dining room with a nice ambiance and not too noisy. Food was tasty, well cooked and nicely presented
Absolutely superb experience. Food was excellent, service friendly and efficient. calm and relaxing ambience. Thoroughly to be recommended!
Outstanding food, first class service and a lovely atmosphere. The perfect Sunday roast!
We all thoroughly enjoyed our roast lunch at The Chancery, food was great, good service considering it was rammed and lovely ambience. Would highly recommend.
Great Sunday roast lunch recently. We liked the menu choices noting there was a vegetarian option. The Service was excellent and attentive leaving plenty of space to savour our meal thank you. Only slight negative was that it was a bit noisy as there was a large number of children among the diners.
Food was great - catered to a Vegan. Service was really good. Really recommended.
Whilst the food was lovely, the noise level in the restaurant made it difficult to hold a conversation!
Nice place to eat, prefer it as a drinking hole. Staff friendly and polite.
Best pub in the area for a really a good Sunday roast, with an extensive wine list and great beers on tap, the staff are very friendly and always attentive.
We visited here on Saturday and booked for 6pm. My partner and I live locally with our daughter and we had invited family over for dinner . We decided to eat at the chancery, great service , great food and lovely staff . We had a really nice time , also my daughter was kept occupied with some of the board games whilst waiting for food etc . There was an issue with one of the starters but the manager ( I assume was the manager ) dealt with the situation very well and we feel went above and beyond - thank you
Good food, friendly staff reasonably priced food and drinks.
A very good meal with decent wine and excellent service made a nice post-Christmas treat for us.
local gastro pub. always busy and reasonable value. Good atmosphere, choice of real ales and premium
lagers. Food was good and I left the plate empty, which is unusual for me.
I've eaten at The Chancery several times and it never fails to deliver: great selection of starters, mains and desserts - all of them delicious. Also worth noting that portions are just right, so you don't leave feeling over-stuffed!
Eat there a lot it’s excellent. Would recommend to anyone who wants good value food.
Lovely place with great service and a warm feel but the food was pretty bad. I’m disappointed as we’ve just moved to the area and it’s our closest pub / restaurant.
We booked to celebrate two family birthdays and enjoyed a tasty Sunday lunch with good wine and lovely selection of desserts.
