As always an exceptionally good meal, great food that’s different with being too fancy or pretentious! We’re already looking forwards to visiting again.
Lovely food as always been here before and would go again service was quick nice relaxing atmosphere.
Once again fantastic food at amazingly good value for money. The lunch time deal is becoming our go to treat on a regular basis.
Food was excellent, service exemplary from waitress (didn't catch her name, Canadian from Toronto).
Only gripe is smallish tables & uncomfortable chairs but the unit is quite small so understandable.
Another wonderful meal. Lunch this time. Great price for the fixed menu. Service was impeccable as usual. The salmon starter was a huge hit. Looking forward to our next visit at what has become our favourite restaurant in Chester.
Plenty of choice on menu, amazing flavours, portions are very good for this standard of cooking
Its taken a while to get here as so popular but a revisit is definitely a must
Another delightful time at this oasis in the middle of Chester's shopping area. The refurbishment makes it stylish and attractive. The food is just slightly less adventurous but just as inspired and delicious in presentation, flavours and style.
It is a small space but used to maximise efficiency and comfort. The new 'tardis' in the corner very effective. Wish they had more prep space but they seem to enjoy the refreshing nip across the alley!
I would be happy to bring anyone to this lovely restaurant. Long may it flourish.
We have heard a lot about the Chef's Table from friends and so when 2 of these friends suggested we dine there we made a reservation as we know that it is hard to get booked in. Anyway we enjoyed the starter and dessert courses but we were very disappointed with the main course as we thought that certainly my dish was over seasoned and wasnt refined enough against what we were expecting. The staff did apologies and gave us a course of brandies with our dessert course however we felt the whole experience left us feeling that it could have been better. We will visit again but during a lunchtime course so as to compare contrast.
Excellent food and drink. Always a pleasure to try their creative menu.
We dined before with friends last year and it was great, we all had a great time and the food was great, that’s why we re booked, but this time we felt we were rushed. We were a few minutes late due to traffic, we had travelled from Croft in Warrington to be there. We had booked through open table the week before, but some glitch occurred and we were given the same time slot for the Sunday, not the Saturday. Which was annoying. Right from the start we were told in no uncertain terms that we would have to vacate the table at 2.30pm and when we asked for a wait between the starter and main course, this was again emphasised. Other diners had their meal brought very quickly to the table, but we always ask for a wait. My wife’s cod was undercooked and raw in places. We were placed next to a large group with raucous children and no attempt was made by the staff to ask the diners if the children could be better behaved. All in all, it was not a good experience and very disappointing, as we know how wonderful the food can be, which is why we booked again, for this date. Food needs to be savoured, not rushed, but from the outset, we felt like the sooner we finished the better it would be. Not a great din8ng experience.
Amazing food. Great service. Brilliant atmosphere. One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had.
Cauliflower starter was crispy and creamy at the same time. A mix of flavours that shouldn’t work together but somehow do.
Steak was cooked to perfection. Portion sizes perfect. Truffle mash was to die for.
Modern fine dining but at very reasonable prices for this level of cooking.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The starters and the mains were particularly good. The food we've tasted for many years.
Excellent food and service . Friendly staff. A great dining experience
Having stayed overnight in Chester a few years ago and discovered This he Chefs Table not long after it opened, we were keen to see if the same quality of food was still being delivered. We were delighted to find that the changes to the decor had further enhanced the intimacy of the experience and the food was still exceptional. Will remain at the top of our list for any future visit to Chester! The only problem no doubt will be trying to secure a table at this deservedly sought after location.
A great experience marred only by the overpowering smell of cleaning fluid from the kitchen at the end of the evening
My daughter and I ate here when we were visiting Chester. The chef's table was recommended to us through our hotel. We were not disappointed the food was amazing, staff were Charming and attentive. We had a lovely evening and would return without fail if visiting Chester again 😊
We love lunching at Chef's Table as the food is amazing and great value. Dinner was wonderful for a special birthday too and I can't recommend enough.
This was our first time doing lunch at Chef's table as we usually dine here on an evening. As always, the food was phenomenal and the lunchtime offer was brilliant value for money (2 courses for £18). The selection of veggie and vegan dishes on the menu has increased which is great to see. I would highly recommend Chef's Table, it is the best restaurant in Chester!
The food was immense and the flavours were incredible. Top commendations to the the chefs. Not a cauliflower fan but your little truffle topped Velouté treat was delicious and everything we ate was spot on. The front of house staff were also second to none. They were attentive and very focused on the customer. Awesome service. Can't thank you all enough. Great 2nd year anniversary treat for us. Highly recommend you eat here
Small but lovely restaurant serving excellent food. Essential to book in advance.
Relaxed, unpretentious, atmosphere beautifully presented delicious food.
Very busy even for an early evening. Excellent staff ,pleasant, wellcoming and attentive.
Starter was very nice and well presented and was followed by a nice ribeye steak. My better half also had a good starter but she found the main dish to be a little underwhelming. It was duck with a cassoulet which she felt a little tasteless and lacked seasoning. It can be a little noisy in the relatively small dining area but it is rather dependant upon some “shouty” people. C’est la vie! Nice evening for our anniversary but a little of the gloss lost which I feel isnt helped by the two hour window which seems to be more prevalent nowadays.
Lovely innovative cooking with very good attentive service. Premises a bit cramped and toilet access not of the
This restaurant was recommended to us and certainly lived up to its recommendation. It was a Mother and Daughter get together, which was a treat in itself. Food was tasty and very well presented. The waitress friendly and accommodating . We will certainly try and return.
A very special restaurant, great original food and very special staff
Absolutely amazing foods! Went there when we visiting Chester. Could only have the table at 9.30pm for dinner. Definitely worth waiting. There is a nice pub just beside the restaurant, a good place to wait for our table.
Excellent service and food without fault, we really enjoyed ourselves especially as it was my wife's birthday.
Great food. Would highly recommend a visit to the Chef’s Table.
Great food and amazing staff, certainly fine dining. I have already referred people to the restaurant.
Two negatives but I didn't complain
1. Shot was found in my wife's starter (pigeon)
2. Eyelash was found on my sorbet (I just took it off)
As usual, a fabulous place to eat. Our first time back after the refurbishment and increased menu to cater to vegetarians + vegans, was superb.
Great place, great meal, great service, we will be back
Fantastic small restaurant with a buzzy vibe and beautifully crafted menu.
We really enjoyed our evening here, particularly all the small additional touches like the amuse-bouche and palate cleansers between courses. Don't be fooled into thinking it pretentious though, its nothing of the kind.
Great also to see a restaurant where the Vegan options are as extensive as the meat and fish options - well-done Chef's Table, we'll be back!
Had the 2 courses for £18, which for the quality of the food is a VERY good deal! The plaice melted in my mouth and the beef roast dinner was delightful!! Will definitely be going back!
Food and service exceptional. Good use of local produce and/ or seasonal vegetables. Would definitely be back as we immensely enjoyed our food and the lunch set menu was excellent value for money.🙂
Food different and local - with a changing menu
Staff amazing, tentative and informative, nothing too much trouble for them.
Couldn't praise our dinning experience enough, can't wait to return.
Lovely lunch from the fixed price menu - fresh ingredients, imaginatively cooked and beautifully presented. Highly recommended.
It is so difficult to get a reservation that I almost hate to write this review! Very small, cozy, and felt cared for. Food was creative with wonderful blend of flavors and unique dishes. Possibly the best in Chester.
