Had intended to visit the restaurant before. I was given a voucher for Christmas. The meal was excellent with a good choice of starters and mains. We were too full to have a desert. The meals were excellently presented and very tasty. The service was good and at no time did we feel rushed. Would certainly go again.
Excellent food and service. Small menu but offering plenty of choice.
Open kitchen and chefs taking an active interest in diners’ reactions to the food.
It’s a shame the physical size of the restaurant isn’t bigger enabling more circulation space around the tables. By no means would this prevent me returning but it would be the only way to improve on this excellent restaurant.
Many thanks for a great meal to celebrate the end of our daughter’s A levels!
Great service, with delicious, interesting food, and all cooked in a kitchen the size of a matchbox!
Really lovely food and great value for money, affordable fine dining. Pea and watercress soup, roast beef and to finish a chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream and popcorn.......absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back and have already recommended to friends
Cannot recommend Chefs Table eough. Astonishing good value, seasonal, imaginative, brilliantly executed.
Staff are excellent, friendly and knowledgeable.
Stunning food. The steak was perfectly cooked, the truffle mash was the best I’ve ever tasted and everything about the dishes was superb. Beautifully presented and carefully constructed dishes. Basil sorbet was special and mind blowing. A team of extremely talented chefs. Thank you so much!!
Fantastic lunch for a birthday celebration. Atmosphere and staff could not have been better and the starters and puddings were excellent. Would not hesitate to come again or to recommend to others . ...
A small restaurant in a prime location at the centre of Chester, close to the cathedral. The waitresses were warm and friendly and most attentive. The food was well presented and for the most part - perfectly cooked. The focaccia bread was below par, along with the olive oil accompanying the balsamic. The receptcle for which was not suitable for this dish - you are forced to soak over an inch of oil before getting to the vinegar. Also, the frogs legs were in a very heavy batter which was not to my liking & the side of vegetables was quite a pathetic portion consisting mainly of peas. On a positive note, the rib eye was one of, if the THE, best pieces of rib eye I’ve ever had, cooked perfectly. The chips are also excellent. Mixed feelings on this one I’m afraid. 7/10
A fantastic meal, all dishes ordered were amazing, the staff were great.
Once again a great experience.
Superb food as normal spoilt slightly by an incredibly noisy table with one particularly screechy diner who found everything TOO funny. To their credit, the Restaurant apologised twice. And I accept you can’t screen all your customers for the volume of laughter.
Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant, the food was brilliant as was the menu. Although the menu is not extensive allows for all dietary needs. How good can a soup be, well could not surpass the pea and watercress as this was exceptional for taste and colour. Was my birthday and one to remember. The staff are very welcoming and very attentive, and was food was every bit as good as my last visit. Unfortunately we were to full to have a dessert, maybe next time will have to have main course and dessert. Would leave photo's but had already started to eat before thinking about taking them.
Food fantastic but new wine list disappointingly expensive and only one choice of white wine by the glass. We have previously liked the fact that the drinks prices were not over inflated like other restaurants but that appears to have changed.
It was very difficult i.e. impossible to contact you by phone, even phoning at different times during the day and evening. Eventually we had to book online which is not our preferred choice of booking as we like to speak to someone, but perhaps it is yours, otherwise everything was excellent.
Every time I go I wonder why I’m not there more !!!
Love the food
And the wonderful staff
But I really need to make more time to go more often
Thank you for another wonderful lunch
See you soon
Excellent quality of food and service the young lady from Jacksonville Florida was very professional polite and courteous. We made a table reservation for Pride and gave her the wrong date unfortunately but she rang us on our way home to inform and changed our booking for us.EXCELLENT THANKYOU.
Absolutely fabulous food, great staff (just the right amount of attention!), and reasonable pricing for the quality of the food. I was particularly impressed by the gluten free choices - I was able to pick from a wide menu, so had a very pleasurable experience. Thank you!
We had a lovely evening meal. Stylish and delicious food and wine and a very sociable atmosphere.
In one word this place is Amazing!!!! If you love great food then it’s a must visit.
Simply gorgeous, totally tasty and just really, really delicious food. Pudding was particularly scrummy, so glad I had the strawberries and basil ........ lip smackingly fantastic. Thanks for a great evening, we will be back soon
High quality and good size portions. Excellent service and decent value. Very enjoyable and booked again.
Outstanding food - by far the best meal I’ve ever eaten
We had a family celebration lunch and had a great time . Food was excellent and the service friendly and professional. I would highly recommend this small , independent restaurant . It is excellent
The quality of the food was absolutely superb. Relatively small portions but by the time we'd worked through all the courses we were totally satisfied. Service was very good only slightly let down by the lack of observation when we were ready for the bill. A very picky point but when everything else was so good it stood out. Relatively pricey but I would say worth every penny. I'll definitely be going back.
Excellent food - loved the appetisers - especially the chicken wings with blue cheese. service excellent - very good waitress - friendly, cheerful and helpful. The outstanding aspect was the sorbet - the mint was so fresh - not had one like that before. Brilliant.
The Chef's Table is one of the best restaurants in the area. Everything was of the highest standard and the staff were exceptional. It is an added bonus being able to watch the chefs working - it's a real experience! My Australian cousins dined with us and haven't stopped talking about the evening since then! Highly recommended.
Incredible food. We have a high standard for meals out with one of our local restaurants holding the bar. The Chefs table hit that bar on our last visit. Beautifully presented high-quality food that was a taste explosion!
Absolutely outstanding as usual, best restaurant in chester in my opinion, how the dishes & service are not at least twice the price boggles, been consistantly brilliant in the 18 months & multiple visits we have made, opened my mind & palate no end, can't wait to book again.
Fantastic food, great service. You get what you pay for. My only, minor, criticisms would be the wine list isn't broad (we did enjoy our wine) and there isn't really anything by way of port/ madeira etc as you might expect at a restaurant of this caliber. Otherwise up there with the best! Sub £100 for 2 starters, 2 mains, a dessert, bottle of red and two glasses of cava.... brill.
Could not speak highly enough of the knowledgeable and enthusiastic waiting on staff, this was in turn followed by simply the best meal I’ve eaten in quite some time, beautifully presented, well proportioned great tasting food
Best food v value in the North West! 3 course lunch for £22 outstanding.
Another amazing visit to this fabulous restaurant. Thank you for the delicious food, delightful wine and great service! We will definitely be back soon!
Came here for lunch with boyfriend. Can’t believe how good value it is for the quality of the food and the menu. One of the puddings had collapsed in the kitchen, which meant we had to wait a bit. They apologised profusely and we got a free round of drinks and both the desserts free too! Exceptional service , we’ll definitely be back again :)
My duck starter arrived which was very pink, I normally ask for it to be cooked more, however it was absolutely gorgeous. Stone bass for my main, this was outstanding. Managed a sweet (just). Third time I have visited now & the food never fails to impress. Menu a little out of the ordinary, but five stars for every course. Can’t wait to go back.
We stumbled across The Chefs Table whilst walking around Chester during the day and we are delighted we did! I think we were lucky to get a table that evening. Amazing service with very knowledgable and friendly staff. Excellent food choices both for me and my friend who is Vegan. 3 options per course, she was literally spoiled for choice!! The owners have not been greedy and tables are well spaced. A fabulous evening. What a gem!! 10/10
We really enjoyed our meal here! We had heard a lot of good things and were not disappointed! Staff were really friendly and helpful and the pod was delicious! Highly recommend!
Excellent food and good service, let down by small tables and uncomfortable seating, plus not being able to have the table longer - I couldn’t finish my coffee as the ‘second sitting ‘was due!!! I felt rushed as they needed my seat , this spoiled the end of our evening - which was in fact a wedding anniversary celebration!!
Superb food and much cheaper than expected, 3 for lunch, 2 courses each, and less than £90 including wine and coffee.
Tiny restaurant where you can see the young chefs cook with verve and panache but quietly . We loved the subtle interesting tiny different flavours in each dish. Could have done with a cocktail fork to spear the blueberries floating in the exciting flavoured Cheshire Grin drink
Lunch menu had a very good varied menu which would suit any taste, beautifully prepared and served. Service excellent, perfectly timed. Deserts a perfect compliment to the mains.
The Chefs Table was recommended by a friend . I was looking for a restaurant in Chester to celebrate my 70 th birthday with my Girlfriend .
Lovely beaming smiles of welcome from the young waitresses ! Felt right at home straight away .
Great menu ! So many Choices we could have made . Each Course fabulous ! Washed down with a lovely Syrah . Great friendly service .
This was our first visit and we will be returning soon !
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ! 5* without a doubt .
