Come and relax within our 400 year old inn beneath the ancient beams, and enjoy your meal in contemporary decor near an open fire that burns throughout the year.
Always a pleasure to eat here. Friendliest welcome ever and food never faulters
the service was excellent and friendly, the Sunday roast probably one of the best, the ambience complimented the food and service.
Amazing food! Portion size was great and all six on our table thoroughly enjoyed. Good atmosphere and very friendly staff too!
Been here a few times before although this was the first time in roughly a year. As always great food, service and lovely atmosphere. Will be back again
We had the most amazing food, beautiful flavours as a vegetarian that doesn’t eat fish either I would’ve liked maybe one other option for the main, but less said food , staff , ambience was first class.
Amazing meal, amazing service, the best restaurant in Oxfordshire by far.
One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had! Really lovely pub, super cosy with the real fire going. Friendly attentive staff. Brilliant.
Good great and service great. As always.
Had a lovely meal, good service with helpful, knowledgeable staff in a relaxed welcoming atmosphere. Only downside was the automatic adding of a “discretionary” 12% tip. With no option to add more or less.
Good wholesome food with attentive service from very pleasant staff. Will be back in the near future.
Food was very tasty, but very expensive for a Sunday roast.
Consistently fantastic Sunday roasts! Great service, as always.
Lovely food and good service. It is more likely recommended to everyone. God for special event.
Great food and very friendly staff. Nice atmosphere.
The Chequers at Burcot has a fantastic atmosphere, it is warm and welcoming. The staff are excellent and their attention to detail creates an enjoyable and relaxed dining experience. The food was truly amazing and we will of course be going back again soon.
Lovely country pub feel with excellent food, service was with a smile and comfortable, relaxed environment. Restaurant prices (rather than pub prices) which matches the quality of the food so no issues, their is a good range of cheaper options (circa £15 per dish) and then the more expensive Steaks plus sides which are circa £30 - £35 per dish. So all options covered, highly recommended.
Very disappointed, food was average or below and staff not concerned enough to ask if everything was okay.
Was not impressed that you have to order a side to go with the burger!!
We both enjoyed the evening very much, the food was great and so was the service. Really lovely place to eat.
Service and food was lovely. Would recommend this restaurant
Lovely evening in a 'nice place' with good food. Staff helped make the visit as good as it was.
A very pleasant evening of delicious food and wine at a cost reflecting this.
Lovely birthday meal with the family. The sharing roast platter was epic.
Lovely meal and a lovely little surprise pud for our anniversary! Thank you for another wonderful meal
A very good lunch - enjoyed by all - good value and nice atmosphere
The food was absolutely delicious! Just slightly difficult to get the bill at the end of the night. Will definitely be returning though, multiple times!
Food expensive, and not good value for money especially if the 12.5% discretionary service charge had been paid. Took two attempts to get one of the dishes served at a satisfactory temperature and even then the chicken was tough.
Always the best roast around.... great value for the three courses!! Melt in the mouth Beef and the cauliflower purée is to die for.... but my favourite has to be the parsnips crisps!!! DELICIOUS!!!
Amazing meal, would definitely recommend.
Will be visiting again soon.
Lovely venue and food cooked to perfection. Welcoming and friendly staff but I think a little inexperienced: mistake with one food order, took a long time to order wine and one drink never arrived. Having said that, we will definitely return another day.
It's so refreshing to go out for a meal and receive such attentive service and great food.
The food was good, though very over priced. £6 for 6 chips is beyond excessive. The service was ok but not attentive.
Sunday lunchtime was great, all 4 of us had something different to start and for main and there were no complaints about any of it! The quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chef really shine through. The only complaint I'd have is that we were waiting about 20-25 minutes to order dessert. The staff were plentiful but seemed to be pre-occupied with another table of people they knew. It won't stop me coming back though.
The service at The Chequers was friendly and professional and the food was good. We had three courses and can definitely recommend the rhubarb crumble; delicious! However, the pricing was a little on the expensive side. My partner had a rib-eye steak which was £22 with an additional £4.50 for chips, and £2.50 for sauce. However, the bowl of chips had 6 chips in (moderate in size but not worth £4.50!) and the sauce was small and again we felt like the price was a little steep for this. Overall we had a lovely experience and would recommend for a special occasion as it is truly a lovely place to dine, just be prepared to spend.
Very nice evening great food and great service would highly recommend
Lovely evening, relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious, service really good. It was a little expensive as we only had some olives to share as a starter and one glass of wine each but we did have steak. Service was included in the price. We paid just over £50 each which includes a dessert and coffee.
Another lovely Sunday lunch at the Chequers. Service is always excellent and the food is the best around for a Sunday lunch. Not cheap but very good value considering. Extra roast potatoes and gravy - no problem. And they are so nice you will want more !
Our food was superb - one lamb roast and one chicken roast. The potatoes were to die for and the meat was plentiful. We both loved the parsnip curly crisps. My food allergies were dealt with in a reassuringly efficient matter of fact manner. I just had room for a pudding - an almond milk pudding with prunes which was very tasty. The service was excellent even though they were obviously very busy.
The waiter or chef forgot our starters so we were left waiting for 45 minutes for bread and olives.
Absolutely beautiful food . When you have a husband who judges when we eat out the cooking level to mine it's a fine balance. But this was everything I expected and it didn't disappoint. Finally we can eat out somewhere and know the food will be lovely and hes doesn't grumble lol thank you
