Only outdoor service but lovely staff. The service was a little slow and being outside meant there were smokers around. However food was fabulous. Would go back.
Food was absolutely delicious 😋 we’ve always loved the Chequers’ location and atmosphere, and now the terrace has been revamped and the food matches the ambience of the area. Not cheap - but really was tasty!
Breakfast. It took an hour to get 4 full English breakfasts served. One waitress trying to organise all tables. We sat outside which is beautiful view but I wouldn’t want to sit inside, not sure how clean it looks. However when outside you can see in the kitchen window which isn’t good when you see multiple plugs in a socket and questionable cleanness. Good breakfast though.
Lovely evening meal by the river! Staff are lovely and attentive even though its so busy. Dog friendly
This was my first visit. I had booked outside seating to enjoy the view of the river, which was lovely... But once seated we realised that the table set up was at arms length... Not at all comfortable for eating. We asked to go inside and was accommodated at once. Drinks were served quickly, but it took around 40 minutes to actually take our food order. When it arrived it was good, but the people the table next to us actually sent their desert back because they had waited too long. The staff were friendly, but it all felt a bit chaotic. Perhaps they are just getting used to being busy again...
When we arrived music so Kounde couldn’t hear what staff signing us in was saying. Vegetarian option was either veg curry or pizza. Ordered desert and one Americano and one decaf told no decaf as machine temperamental. Cancelled decaf and desert so long coming we cancelled desert to leave. When we paid bill decaf we had not had was still on the bill. Not a good experience maybe geared up for younger people
Great food, very peaceful setting. Will definitely be back.
Good service, nice food, good selection of good and drink
Ribs very good and plenty of it. Menu a bit sparse but what was on it was tasty
Breakfast was delicious, service was excellent from friendly staff
It was our first time there and we loved it! The view by the river was lovely and the food was great, the staff always checked in to see if we needed anything! We will definitely be coming back again :)
Main courses were lovely, unfortunately we had to return the dessert, it looked like it had been left for too long
Good view and beautiful scenery if you sit outside
Service in this place really needs to be improved.
Sat us right next to smokers.
Served the wrong food and then took a while to correct.
Main meals were delicious when they arrived.
Excellent food and service. Friendly staff and good prices.
Our favourite pub/restaurant
Stunning views sitting by the river
A part of old England...
Food was good as always but service was exceptionally slow and had to keep asking for things they had missed, real shame as we took friends there that had not been there before
Great local pub. Excellent food and lovely service!
Normally we get great food and great service but on Saturday 5th it was below par.
From the look of it they are struggling with staffing levels but the food was just not up to its usual standard.
Hopefully when we go back again it may be better.
The location and service are nice but the food was really not great
Fish was over cooked and very greasy
Kids meal was amazing, so big we had to bring some home.
Bill was wrong but quickly sorted
Little gem of a pub, Great setting, food unbelievable, service a little slow but was very busy.
Definitely coming back
Keep up the good work
Our visit to the Chequers was good. Lovely afternoon to sit out on the terrace overlooking the River Medway.
Service excellent and food good.
Will certainly come again
Got there and everything was perfect, the waiter was polite and fast to order our drinks, they were fast to come out too, however an hour went by and no one took our food order, had to ask twice for someone to take our order and even then they only took it 10 mins after asking the second time. Started took about 40 minutes to come out and tables beside us who arrived way after were getting starters,
mains and close to finishing before we even got our starters. The mains came out shortly after the starters however both mains (fish and chips & pizza) were both basically inedible and tasteless, left almost all of it. A shame because the fish and chips are always so nice here so not sure what happened that day. After asking for the bill, it took about 20/25 minutes for someone to come out and take payment after asking. Ended being there almost 3 hours with 3/4 of that just waiting for for food to even come out. To quote my wise mother, “I am not angry, just very disappointed.”
We were blue to book a table for four short notice on the very lovely terrace overlooking the river.
They were very busy, and not coping too well with.
We were seated within a minute, and ordered out drinks and food within another 5-10min. Drinks took a bit to arrive but we could see it was busy and didn’t mind too much. We kept asking for the food and were told it was “soon”, “a bit still”, “checked on”. It took 90min for 4 mains. No apologies were offered.
The fish and chips were very tasty and so were the sundaes.
Service needs to improve. Communication is poor seemingly within the team and towards guests.
Lovely spot though.
Gorgeous place sitting overlooking the river at the back
Food was ace - seated at 230pm - food arrived at 415pm - such a shame. Staff were stressed - and didn’t ask any questions and check we were ok
Awesome as usual 👍👍
Excellent food and excellent service. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely meal in pleasant. surroundings. Particularly enjoyed the ribs. The service was quite slow, but staff pleasant and polite. Hope to return again soon and, weather permitting, try the outside area which looked very inviting.
Weekday lunch, outside but under cover in the newly refurbished riverside space, we had a really good time, service was just right and the food was very good.
Another great Sunday lunch with friends and family overlooking the river and managed to avoid the rain too
Lovely food and attentive service. With a speaker by our table the music was a bit loud at times which was a shame.
Really great, hearty food and portion sizes, chefs know what they're doing! Service and atmosphere was lovely, a definite favourite spot from now on.
First meal out since restrictions lifted and food was fabulous. 2x carverys went down a treat. Definitely plan to go back
Even though the tables were all busy, the service was good and so was the food, we didn't feel rushed and everyone was polite, only down side we would have liked a second drink, but staff were too buy to see us looking, so we gave up.
Food was equivalent to Green King standard but double the price. Will try other restaurants in Aylesford as a lovely setting.
The food was really good! And the staff friendly and polite. Have been a few times now and will definitely go back again.
Very impressive first visit. Booked again for bank holiday weekend already. Service, food, location, seating all excellent. Prices could always be cheaper but they were average. and not overpriced. Would definitely recommend. Only thing I would feedback to management is that they could clarify on its website whether you have to order food or whether you can just have drinks. I had to call first which was a little annoying.
