Food was good rather than great. We are so used to great food here that the expectation level is now very high. Service was slow today.
We came here last year and thought that the food was excellent, hence why we came back again. Thank you for the excellent taster menu.
Great value set lunch menu (Tuesday to Saturday), two choices for each course
We have visited the Checkers twice now and had the tasting menu and the set lunch, both were superb. This is fine dining in a very relaxed atmosphere.
Having lived in nearby Aylesbury for over 50 years I have seen the Chequers at Weston Turville have 3 owners or so but the latest chef patron and his wife should be very proud of their exceptional service, wonderful ambience, friendly professional manner but above all an amazing menu changing with the seasons using fresh locally sourced produce. We love it there and it’s our go to venue for a special meal out
Great place to eat with attentive staff and hosts. The only comment would be that perhaps the service could be a little quicker, but all the food is cooked fresh then a delay should be expected, just at time this was rather long between courses. It will, however, not stop us returning.
Fabulous tasting menu - hake and strawberry was sublime.
Fabulous food served by friendly but discreet staff. Always a warm welcome and it is so lovely that we celebrate here whenever we can find an excuse.
We know this restaurant quite well and over the years it has got more well known with people coming from a distance now and not just from the village of Weston Turville and surroundings. They were very accommodating on our visit this time as I had to be sure of the seat height as I was post-op and not able to get up from a low chair. Staff all v. friendly and helpful.
Excellent as usual. Good choice on both the a la carte & set monthly menus
Lovely evening, delicious food and wine, taster menu was intriguing and yummy. Relaxed atmosphere and fantastic service. I felt really spoilt!
Always a treat, never fails to deliver the best of the best.
Most fantastic meal. Best ever. Great food. Staff and ambience. We will be back
Fantastic quality food and wine, attentive service with a smile and very fairly priced, in a smart but quaint setting. Can't ask for any more.
Really top notch food combined with first class service in a warm and welcoming environment. The staff were really attentive and helpful and the attention to detail of each course was fantastic. Highly recommended, we will certainly be back!
Our mid week lunch was delicious. Always enjoy dining at the Chequers.
We have been a few times now and whilst the food is very good it is just not enough for full satisfaction even after 3 courses. Just a few more vegetables on the main course or one proper portion of greens would probably make a big difference. However the puddings are to die for but again very small portion.
Fresh, good quality delicious food which is beautifully presented! Really friendly and knowledgeable staff who cater for your every need.
I had the set lunch menu, which was an absolute treat. Fabulous presentation, great taste. Great service.
I went to Chequers in earlier this week for my other halfs birthday. Been there once before, so I knew it would be good. You can not fault the service. They really do "take care of you" there. The waitress presented every dish beautifully, explaining what was on the plate.
Now, the food. Just one word. Amazing!
We will definitely be going back.
Chequers Inn! You've got a fan.
Once again the food and service were excellent. The Chequers is a quality place to eat high quality ingredients prepared by knowledgeable and friendly people committed to excellence. Would highly recommend.
This was our 3rd visit to Chequers Inn. The food was amazing as always and the staff friendly. I highly recommend both the tasting menu and al a carte menu. Absolutely everything tasted divine and the wine pairing was excellent. We will definitely return again.
Had the tasting menu. All beautifully cooked and some courses were outstanding. Great to find a local restaurant of this quality. At £45 per head and £35 for the wine pairing thought this was good value compared to similar we’ve tried in Oxford and London.
We return again and again to The Chequers Inn. The standard of cooking is very high and we enjoy delicious meals.
Always a very pleasant experience. Menu fully explained so can enjoy all the more!
This is a Fine dining restraunt so dont expect a plate full of food.
The service and food are second to none, everything and I mean everything is made on the premises, even the crackers for the cheese are made in the kitchen
The deserts are the best i have ever tasted, you can tell that this is all made from the freshest of ingredients and with great care and attention , so that's what your paying for
The Wine cellar is amazing they have a wine for everything and also have a Wine suggestion for each course on the menu
The tasting menu is a great idea and gives you a full a cross the board range of there ala-carte menu and if you pay a little extra you will have the wine to go with each course
Thank you to the kitchen staff for a very enjoyable evening, well go again and highly recommend
Wow. 2nd time here. The tasting menu was to die for, with the finest selection of wines to match each course. The care and attention with menu, ingredients and presentation are obvious. Service is impeccable with the waiting staff presented each course so well with knowledge of every ingredient. Add to this a lovely log fire bar and you have a hidden gem, tucked away in a quiet corner of Weston Turville. Anyone who loves food should pay a visit. You won’t be disappointed.
Fantastic dining experience. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. My wife has an egg intolerance but not a problem as menu was adjusted to suit. Excellent food, excellent service. Wine a bit pricey but to be expected in such a top class venue. Will certainly return for next special occasion
My sister was visiting us from North Yorkshire, where there are many fine dining pubs and we wanted to go out for a special dinner; we were not disappointed. The food was fantastic.
All three of us had the tasting menu and two of us had the matching wine flight. It was really great that for 2 of the courses there was and either or choice.
The service was great - both our servers were really good and it was nice to be asked on a couple of occasions if we were ready for the next course. The pace of the meal and the size of the portions was just right to enjoy the scrumptious flavours but not be "over faced" by too much food.
Two of the group had the soufflé for desert which they raved about.
A great evening which we would highly recommend.
We came on the occasion of my husbands birthday. We had been before and enjoyed it. The food was delicious and very well presented. I would have liked a better choice for desserts. All seemed to be ice cream or sorbet based - with the exception of a cheeseboard. I don't like eating ice cream or sorbet, it sets my teeth on edge. I would have preferred something else. The service was impeccable and we were not troubled by endless 'how are you doing' and 'is the food ok' comments. The wait between courses was also just right, we didn't feel rushed or ignored. All in all a great visit and we will come again.
Great place to eat. Friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable staff. Have booked special anniversary meal here as we were so impressed.
We went to the Chequers Inn to celebrate our son and his fiancee@s engagement. We all ate from the tasting menu which was excellent food and great value. The service was brilliant and we enjoyed some fantastic wines. We will definitely return.
The Chequers is always reliable and the food and service impeccable. Staff are friendly and knowledgable. My brother and his wife travel from Harpenden to eat here with us.
A first visit to the Chequers, for a lunch, and we were made to feel most welcome. The bar was empty and we worried whether the place would lack atmosphere but the restaurant soon filled up and the occasion became very enjoyable. A minor observation is that the room temperature was quite cool, both the bar and restaurant, in spite of a lovely log fire in the bar.
The menu was varied and appealing and the food (from the good value set lunch menu), was well cooked. Reasonable portions. Definitely worth another visit.
Great find ! First time and will be going back , fantastic food, nice local wines very good service and a friendly atmosphere
Very enjoyable meal. Great food and attentive service made for a lovely evening out with hubby.
Excellent host ,Fabulous food, good wines and knowledgeable friendly staff. I would highly recommend for any occasion . My fellow diners were very impressed and quite envious that it was not in their locality.
We have been a few times and will definitely be back, the staff are very attentive without being overbearing and the food very interesting. Excellent dining experience.
Excellent food, good service. Good vegetarian options (they will do a vegetarian substitute for tasting menu if requested in advance)
haven't been to this restaurant for a number of years and it has certainly changed. Lovely attentive staff and good leadership, chef/owner particularly attentive to all customers.
Had the tasting menu and wasn't disappointed - helpful and able to change the odd course which is not always the case with tasting menus.
wines were lovely would definitely recommend for special occasion
