The Chequers Inn
The Chequers team pride themselves on excellent service and delicious food.
Set in the quaint village of Weston Turville, The Chequers Inn dates back to the 16th Century. The bar retains a traditional feel, with broad polished flagstone floors, historic beams and an open fire place. The restaurant area is a more contemporary space in which to enjoy a fine dining experience.
The Chequers Inn is home to husband and wife, Chef Owner Dritan and Maître d' Ranka. Since taking over in 2010 they have transformed the restaurant into a renowned and much loved eatery.
Perfectly balanced 7 course Tasting menu
Lovely quiet pub with a village charm. There is plenty of space between tables. The staff are friendly but discreet. The food is delicious. I would certainly recommend the pub for adults; children would need to be very well-behaved!
Second time we have visited. Exceptional local restaurant. Relaxed atmosphere with attentive staff.
We had a really good birthday meal. The menu was good and the food excellent.
Excellent anniversary meal. Very much recommended.
Having eaten here on a number occasions over the last few months I have never been disappointed. The food choice is excellent as is the presentation. The layout of the restaurant provides ample space between tables and the service cannot be faulted.
good service but food was hit and miss. lamb was delicious but stone bass was lacking flavour. Overall a great restaurant for a special occasion.
This is not your friendly local village pub. It aspires to be fine-dining but just misses the mark. The food was not anything special and quite pricey at that. The plates were big and portions small. Disappointing after a 100 mile journey to get there for lunch which was not as good as hoped for.
It’s one of my favourite places to eat. Very relaxed and amazing food.
A little gem of a find. Michelin level food and service but relaxed atmosphere and fabulous staff who take absolute pride in all they do. A wonderful team from kitchen through to front of house who create the most wonderful food and service experience. This place deserves a Michelin star. Why have they not got one?!
The food was undoubtedly excellent, however, I only gave *** as the portions were very small - not a place to go if you are hungry. The menu was certainly original and it was very good to experience some unusual food combinations - jerausalem and fennel ice cream, for example. However, the food seemed unnecessarily over complicated and quite incongruous in a village pub where it didn’t match the ambience and setting. Food presentation was good, the staff were friendly and the service excellent but overall it represented poor value for money and we came away feeling as though we needed a bit more food!
Fantastic meal with very attentive waiting staff and greeted by the owners who went out of their way accommodating a disabled pensioner and making the dining experience comfortable for her. Food was excellent, carrots just too crunchy on this occasion but will definitely be returning. A gem of a find that’s nice and quiet for adults dining
Excellent quality and choice on the Sunday lunch menu. A gem of a location too - quiet village lane - with plenty of parking. Great wine list - with good choices for single glasses and half bottles. One star deducted for price - the two and three course set lunch menu options were more expensive than venues such as Marcus Wareing in central London.
Fabulous restaurant. Food was of the highest quality complimented by wonderful friendly service. Could not recommend enough and very good value for the quality.
We had the 7 course tasting menu and it was amazing. All the ingredients were of a high quality and cooked perfectly. We have eaten in many high end restaurants and had their tasting menus and this is on a par with them but at a fraction of the cost. We will definitely be returning.
Tried the tasting menu because it appeared to offer good value at £45 and we were not disappointed. Excellently prepared dishes served very pleasantly over a couple of hours made a lovely evening. Well done to all at The Chequers Inn.
A excellent little venue, the Sunday roast was beautiful, polite and friendly service, just a little note maybe some tables need a little spacing.
BRILLIANT!!!!!!!! Faultless and perfection rolled into a beautiful country pub!
Fab trip to the chequers. Have not been there for ages, but glad that we went for our anniversary. We had the tasting menu and the accompanying wine. It’s was really really good and given the quality and seven courses, the price was good also. Very impressed.
Went here to meet a friend to talk and ended up choosing the tasting menu. It was splendid. Unfortunately a table opposite was v noisy with a six year old understandably getting bored and the parents doing very little to stop her squealing. The staff handled the situation gracefully.
Discrete service in a beautiful setting. The lunch menu changes each month to ensure that seasonal foods can be enjoyed at their best. It is imaginative tasty and presentation is excellent. Very good value.
Lovely setting in traditional old pub, Excellent food and value for money. Can highly recommend it
We enjoyed every course of the seven course tasting menu! Each was delicious, creative and beautifully presented. My husband had the flight of wines to accompany the meal. The service could not be faulted and they gave us a small box of birthday chocolates. The ambience was perfect and the inn is attractive with its wooden beams. We have had quite a few tasting menus and this was one of the best. A memorable meal and evening which was also good value.
Absolutely amazing meal for our 10th anniversary! Would very highly recommend for both the quality of the food and the service. Fantastic, friendly and highly recommended
Booked after reading Trip Adviser reviews, the restaurant setting and food were very good, together with very good service from the staff. We thoroughly enjoy our visit and will return.
Delicious food. Superb service. Good company, couldn’t ask for more. Would certainly repeat the experience.
Food was amazing and they knew when to leave us alone to chat and when we needed attention. I love this place and would go again. (the table cloth and chairs make it look slightly dated though!)
Every dining experience here is beyond the 5 star rating scale! The food, presentation, service, the wine list, the friendly greeting. Never to be missed by us for a special occasion or simply a treat!
Great food, friendly staff will definitely be going back
Have enjoyed lunch at The Chequers now many times. The food and service is always excellentand Dritan, Ranka and their team always make us feel welcome.
Lovely evening with family. Local to us and a little gem of a restaurant. Excellent food and good service.
Excellent food and such a nice relaxing place to visit
The food and service were excellent, as always. Look forward to the next visit.
Took me husband for his birthday meal. We’ve been a few times for specialty occasions. This was the first time we’ve tried the tasting menu and it was sublime.
I always enjoy dining at The Chequers. The food is always of a very high standard and beautifully presented. This lunch was a treat from my sister-in-law for my birthday and it was a lovely surprise to find a little box of chocolates and a card on our table from the staff - excellent chocolates and a lovely touch.
I shall be back again very soon.
We were greeted very warmly by the staff on arrival. The entire experience was excellent from start to finish - superb service and delicious food beautifully presented in a most attractive fashion.
Great food and wine. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone.
This restaurant gives a new meaning to "chequered history" in that I don't know what its overall history is but certainly its recent history can be nothing but good. The friendly, charming and attentive ex-Croatian proprietors know exactly how to look after their customers and their taster menu is straight of the top shelf. Add the attractive décor and you have a gem of a place !
Great food and superb value. Friendly staff in a comfortable and quiet atmosphere. Well worth a visit and the drive to get there.
We had Sunday lunch here and were bowled over by the quality of the food and service. “Not your ordinary Sunday lunch” sums it up nicely. Everything was special and delicious! We’ll be back to try the a la carte menu soon.
