The Chequers Inn
Super food as ever for our Valentine’s Day meal. Seamless service with lots of smiles from the waiting staff. Everything was delicious and we had a lovely evening. Thank you. Nice warm cosy feel.
We had a superb lunch . The halibut was amazing every morsel on plate was scrumptious.
A hidden gem with very conscientious and friendly ownership
Best quality dining in the area. Would recommend The Chequers very highly
Absolutely amazing food. Had the tasting menu and wine pairing and highly recommend both.
Amazing taster menu
Will be back
Staff all lovely and efficient
Since discovering this wonderful country pub we have returned many times, including Christmas Day. We will shortly be booking for my daughters 30th birthday as she has never been and I know will love it. The food is of fantastic quality and the portions are not too large, which is something we like as we prefer flavour over vast quantities. It is the one of the few restaurants we have been to where we consume the whole meal as the tastes and flavours are so delicious. The attention to detail is meticulous but not intrusive and the staff are polite, friendly and helpful. We are always assured of a warm welcome from the owners who always have time to chat and make recommendations. We are looking forward to many delicious meals at The Chequers in the future.
My dad and I went for the tasting menu and the whole experience was exquisite. The food was beautiful and unlike anything I had tasted before. I would recommend to anyone and be back soon!
Lovely meal at The Chequers. We’ve been here a few times and always enjoyed it. The a la carte menu is definitely a fine dining one and the food was excellent, though we felt that the desserts could have been a little bit sweeter. Service was great and an incorrect main course order was handled very well by the boss and his staff. We'll definitely keep going there.
Another trip to the Chequers and never disappointed - went on a recent visit and there is no where else my husband wanted to go to celebrate his birthday. Have now rebooked for Valentines - any excuse to try a new tasting menu here!
Fabulous food by fabulous people
Excellent all round from start to finish. Easy to recommend
We have been to Chequers 4times now. All aspects of the venue are excellent. The owners are charming, front of house is very efficient and the food is delicious. We shall go there again.
Love this place the owners are warm and friendly and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Food is superb!! Go here often
Always perfect, we have been going for over 10 years and always fantastic
A lovely well-run fine dining restaurant. We had the mackerel and the King scallops for starters which were outstanding, we then shared the beef rib which was mostly very tender but there was quite a bit leftover which we didn't eat. But the chips and vegetables were great. I had the panna cotta which was absolutely wonderful with the blackberry sorbet and others bits and pieces. My husband had the cheeses and he wished there were larger portions of the them!! It was our anniversary and they kindly left us a small gift on our table which was very thoughtful.
Fabulous as usual, another lovely lunch with a dear friend
Yet again the overall experience was fantastic. The food taste and quality was incredible. The Beef short rib to share was so tasty and tender. I can't wait to go back in 2020.
Booked an early lunch to meet up with family on route elsewhere and we were really impressed. From the welcome, we were early as our journey took less time than expected and despite still being closed we were invited to come in and sit waiting for our guests. The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The food was excellent, from amuse bouche to desert, each was delicous. My only regret was having to drive on and so unable to sample anything on the wine list!
Excellent food and service. Good value lunchtime menu. Would highly recommend.
We have been here many times, however we have just had the most amazing evening we have ever had. The food was the best food we have ever tasted.
Thank you to all the team at The Chequers for a superb evening.
Great food & service. The tasting menu is outstanding!!
The food and service was outstanding, as always. Even booked our work Christmas Party here in a few weeks. Recommend the Tasting Menu or even the Christmas Tasting Menu (book the Christmas Tasting Menu in advance at the time of booking), You won't be disappointed!
A little secret in Buckinghamshire.
Excellent dining experience worthy of a Michelin star.
Simply amazing. I would say I didn’t had such tasty food for a very long time. Good job! Keep it up.
Fantastic place we happened upon as we were working locally and thought we'd have a meal out while we were in the area. We would highly recommend The Chequers, in fact we are already considering re-booking with friends to bring along in the new year.
Delicious food and great choice of wine by the glass not just bottle
As always, everything was, quite simply, brilliant.
We will return very shortly.
Quality dining and service. Been several times and have never been disappointed.
Fantastic food, attentive waitstaff, great experience.
Lovely evening tasting menu great with the flight of wine
I was very disappointed
The starter was tasty but I have had foi gras
Many times but never served with out bread or toast I complained so eventually they bought a brioche which was completely unsuitable
The main course was duck
again very disappointed
It was quite tough and completely tasteless
Duck had a very distinctive taste it was impossible to know what it was
The rest was very nice
It was our second visit.
In both occasions we had a very good experience.
Food and service were great.
One word........ AMAZING.
Sunday lunch was better than I expected. Always surpassing expectations. Great surroundings, great staff, great food. Worth a visit without a doubt.
We had the seven course tasting menu. Every dish was well executed and superbly thought out. Everything was in harmony.
Started off with Jerusalem artichoke soup alongside Welsh rarebit brioche and pork and apple butter. A really good start which set the standard for what followed.
Local Hereford beef was lovely and then the two desserts showed real innovation and a deft touch. Sweet potato panna cotta was probably something I wouldn't have ordered but was brilliant and so was the chocolate , coffee dessert with Jerusalem artichoke ice cream. Desserts can sometimes be a restaurants Achilles heel, but not here. Absolutely top notch.
Cannot recommend highly enough. We are local but this place is well worth a trip, even out of London, dare I say!
Have visited a few time’s and the food and service is always excellent. This time we tried the wonderful taster menu, would thoroughly recommend.
First time here, real hidden gem. Wonderful food and great staff.
Always enjoy my visits here . Great Sunday lunch.
Food always spot on - one of my favourites
A short but interesting menu. The food was well presented and tasty though there were one or two slight criticisms. The prices are a little above average. Tasting menus are on offer but we did not try them
First class food. Particularly enjoyed the chicken liver parfait, should have asked for some more brioche or bread to finish it with, but too busy listening to my companion.
Very attentive, but not intrusive, service.
Waiting in the bar area was a bit cold.
Excellent quality and value lunch with good wine selection.
