When we got there they didn’t have our booking, I said I booked through open table and they had no record of it, must be something wrong your end you need to fix luckily they could fit us in, good food, great service, and friendly atmosphere

Firstly, the table correctly booked on-line, did not reach the Pub and hence on arrival we had no table. We had to wait a short time.
Service was very slow. We had to ask twice for water to be delivered to table. Waitress was unfamiliar with deserts. The desert ordered which we were told was new to the menu was a disaster. It was like a piece of frozen arctic roll with a a scoop of ice cream on top covered with some meringue. It should not have been served. It should be removed from the menu.

We are locals to the Chilworth arms and find the pub very hit and miss.. really have no idea what the experience will be when we arrive. On this occasion it was below expectations, 2 out of 4 meals (pasta and chicken) were dry and over cooked. The rack of lamb was also over cooked and not pink as you would expect...

However the Mgr made some amends by providing a free dessert to 2 of the party.

Friendly relaxed atmosphere, good service and good food. A place we often choose to go when in Southampton.

Food was excellent. Chef ben produced an unbelievable linguine. Had huge amounts of flavour and staff were extremely friendly, service was very quick and only 20min wait for food during a busy period of the night.
👍👍👍

I like the Chilworth Arms for accessibility for meeting friends. I have used this pub for many years but recently on the few occasions I’ve dined there a lot of the food is not available. Also a lot of flies seem to be buzzing about not sure what’s that all about.

We went on Valentines night - it was busy but service kept up, although we had different waiters at times as they were clearly trying hard to get food out.

The ambience was good and they had made a great effort with a special Valentine’s menu which included a few joint dishes to share - nice touch.

The food though was the weak point - presentation of the starter platter was worst than we would manage at home. The prawns were defrosted and tasteless. The rest of the platter was OK but the only highlight was the calamari.

The main course was chateaubriand which we asked for rare - it was so over cooked that the ends were medium and even the middle was at best medium rare, which for chateaubriand just ruins it.

Overall, close to very good but let down by the main event.

We have had dinner many times here. The food is very good as is the ambiance. Service was fast and attentive without being too much. I would definitely recommend this gastro pub.

Had a lovely evening at this location with my partner and mother. We were running late and they amended my booking time with no fuss. The food was excellent and the wine list was more than adequate. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend this establishment.

Poorly cooked pasta, crackling so hard that pliers wouldn’t have broken and burnt pastry too thick. Our booking was not shown on their system causing a queue at reception, even though the table was booked through OpenTable. Shame, was expecting a pleasant evening to celebrate fantastic GCSE results for my daughter - won’t be coming back anytime soon.

Normally the food is excellent but unfortunately on this occasion the food was very average. Hopefully it’ll improve otherwise an expensive meal for what you get. Hopefully it was just a blip!

The restaurant appeared to have lost the booking made through the app, but managed to seat us anyway which was fortunate. Would advise double checking by phone.

Myself & 2 friends went on my birthday to have a catch-up over some good food & wine last Saturday 13th. We weren't disappointed. Very friendly & attentive staff, & a complimentary bottle of Prosecco for my birthday. Some great live music in the bar added to the atmosphere. Our waitress sorted out our taxi home in just a couple of minutes. A lovely evening.
