Situated on the Wirral peninsula, near the border of Cheshire and Merseyside, The Chimneys can be found within the small village of Hooton. The character of the pub comes from its high ceilings and open fires. Our name comes from our roof line, which is festooned with over a dozen chimneys giving the building its distinctive appearance.
The unique roofline at The Chimneys is worth seeing in its own right, but after enjoying these distinctive surroundings, there's plenty more of interest in the area, including Wirral Country Park and in Hooton Green.
Very disappointed. Starters and main were very poor and looked like it had been dropped on the plates. Serving staff told us the kitchen were overwhelmed. Staff were nice but not on the ball - we had to confirm we'd had our starters and waiting for main course. Wouldn't go back.
Friendly service and my favourite (ham hock) was lovely as ever - and I got to sit at my favourite table - 61 - too!
Its some time since we had been to the Chimneys However decided to give it a try again on Mothers Day It is very obvious that under the new Manager the place is much improved overall On the day we found The Manager and his staff were excellent The service the food and the the whole experience was very good Even though the place was full The staff and the manager were going about thier duties very calmly and efficiently which made for a nice experience
Food was as expected ... standard pub grub. A little overpriced and cold on arrival. Service was good.
Good value for money with a choice of set menu or full menu. Can be very busy so best to book. When busy food can take a while to arrive but worth the wait, hot and tasty. Great dessert menu. Staff are very friendly and seem to have good knowledge about the food (at leader the one who helped us pick did).
Staff always pleasant & helpful. Food is fabulous 😃
Serving staff were fantastic really made us feel welcome, new a lot about the menu and drinks and made my daughters birthday extra special thank you 😊
It's just a great place to catch up with friends, excellent service, tasty food at reasonable prices! Love the coffee/small pudding dessert choice! I've been many times and I have always enjoyed myself. 😃
Arrived on Sunday evening for 7pm booking .Shown to reserved table and Drinks order taken .
Was told on arrival all Sunday Lunches were sold out so I ordered The Ham Hoc only to be told this was sold out too .So I ordered a Rump Steak and surprise surprise this was sold out too and all because they were changing the Menu on the Monday night ,although I cant imagine they are not doing Sunday lunches and Rump steak on the new menu .I was offered the Sirloin steak for the same price as the Rump Steak which I accepted .The meal duly arrived and the Chips were nice and hot however the Steak was COLD ,I should nave complained but given the problems getting a meal I just put up with it and ate as much as I could. When the Bill arrived they have failed to give me the Sirloin Steak for the price of the Rump so I had to send that back to be corrected .Overall a very poor show would NOT go back or recommend this establishment to anyone .I am sure they must have some satisfied customers but sadly I am not one of them .
We took mum out for Sunday lunch the food was lovely. Service a bit slow. Not usual standard of service slow food coming out and slow collecting our plates. Waitress a little load chatting to other tables loudly rather than looking to what needs doing
