The Chipping Forecast
This is my second visit to this restaurant. I love the ambiance and focus on provenance of the fish, although they don’t really highlight this in any way in the restaurant. The fish was of good quality. The superfood side salad however was almost all quinoa and no vegetables! Two of the specials were not available. The salt cod and quail’s egg scotch egg starter was lovely but pricey for one little egg at £5. Service was a let down. We ordered water which had to be chased. The first mint tea arrived with no issues but when a second was ordered for my companion, waiter just brought an extra cup and poured out another from the first pot! Waiter also got our food order wrong - battered fish instead of grilled which was sent back followed by a long wait for the correct dish to be delivered. Staff was in general inattentive despite an empty restaurant. Can certainly do a lot better!
A lovely little restaurant off the beaten path in the Notting Hill neighborhood. We had delicious salmon cake with salad, and fish and chips. All very fresh and perfectly prepared. On a Sunday afternoon, however, the restaurant was empty. Very unfortunate as the setting, food and service are worth supporting!
We eat at the Chipping Forecast frequently. It is always excellent.
Ein wirklich hübsches und gemütliches Restaurant mit ausgezeichnetem Essen!
It is not quite the same without the owners there - they bring a warmth that appears to been lost somewhat.
Food was 4/5, service was almost non-existent.
A great meal and excellent value. Whitebait was devine and the kids goujons superb. Definitely one to return to.
The host was a pleasure and the food was delicious. My husband, two children and I came here for holiday but I would come here every day if I could. Thank you for a wonderful meal!
The Chipping Forecast is a local Notting Hill gem. The best fish & chips I've ever had - and a gluten free option! I have been many times and will continue to return.
What a blast! Incredibly fresh fish; simple preparations, but well thought out and impeccably executed.
Excellent and friendly service in an intimate setting. Perfect choice for your evening with friends or family. We took 5 kids and they were doted on by staff and owner alike. Highly Recommend! .
Knew it would be good but not this good. Rupert and his counterpart were and are awesome...my lady loved it as much as I. Definitely worth another visit
One of our local favourites. Very friendly owners, dog-friendly and interesting clientele. Would thoroughly recommend!
Fresh fish makes all the difference - these folks seem dedicated to sourcing only the freshest fish which provides a superlative tasting experience from a normally pedestrian product. It you want to visit the heights of fish & chips, this restaurant not to be missed. Service was very good but it was a small crowd as it was a Sunday night, so not really a test.
Love this place - London’s best fish n chips
great menu.good cocktails and very good service
The food was lovely and the service was very friendly. Would definitely go again.
Ridiculously overpriced, crazy to pay extra for chips in a fish and chips restaurant! House wine appalling and expensive. £45 a head for a basic supper.
Though it is said fish “and” chips, chips were not included and is an additional of £4. Then the waiter asked what sauce we want, whether tartare or mayo, and we said tartare for both the two dishes we ordered. When the bill came, we realized that the sauce were £3 each but we were not informed when asked by the waiter. So we paid £6 in total just for the sauce! And of course £8 just for two portions of fries for both. Very pricey for what it is.
We had a lovely time at the Chipping Forecast. The decoration is lovely, well balanced between modern trendy touches and an authentic more rustic vibe. The food is amazing, we had the classic Fish&Chips, the batter is AMAZING and the chips are huge and delicious. Huge portions for a very reasonable price ! The restaurant serves Brewdog draft beer, which we love so this was a great surprise. Staff was very friendly and the playlist was deliciously retro with unavoidable classics for the Millenials generation ^^ definitely recommend !
Very nice restaurant for unique fish experience with all sorts of fish dishes. A bit pricy but lovely place for casual meal.
For authentic fish & chips in a charming neighborhood setting, you can't beat the Chipping Forecast. Superb fish, responsibly sourced. Delicious chowder, like my grandfather used to make. For non-seafood lovers, the burger is remarkably good. And the chips are the best I've had, bar none.
Great ambience. Great service. Small portions. Not value-for-money
We were greeted by friendly staff and proprietors Rupert and Tim, we had an excellent lunch in the ground floor of this lively restaurant. We really enjoyed the food and the wine list is small but very good. We will return !
Excellent top quality fish, very well cooked. Excellent service. Highly recommended.
Absolutely outstanding fish restaurant and a haven away from the busy street of London. The fish is so fresh and the sea food is succulent and sweet. Everything we had was superb.
The service was fantastic as soon as we arrived. Fish pie was amazing and portions were good, lovely for the cold weather. There is more variety than battered fish, but this is good too! I would highly reccomend for a special occasion.
A lovely restaurant in a lovely area. Nice and cosy venue, perfectly polite staff and a well crafted menu executed to perfection by the team. We will certainly be returning again.
Our second visit. This is a lovely cosy friendly restaurant with a real interest in the food they serve as well as the people.
I ordered the salmon cakes and chips.
Absolutely incredible! The salmon cakes were fresh, light and perfectly seasoned. The triple cooked chips were chunky and crisp. The service was superb, friendly and cheerful. The food did take a long time but ir was worth the wait. It was a Thursday evening and both upstairs and downstairs were full! The guests at the next table said they are regulars and the fish and chips are the best in town. Slight downside, the house white gave me a headache the next morning but that was probably my own allergic reaction. I was so full the next day!
I am a visitor here so i will come back next time I am here!
Delicious fish, and some of the best chowder I’ve ever had. I’ve also tried the burger and was impressed. Most fish & chips shops don’t have this kind of menu variety, or if they do the other dishes are lower quality. That’s certainly not the case here! Warm cozy atmosphere, and wonderfully friendly staff. This is quickly becoming a favourite neighborhood spot for us!
Great food, simple menu, great service. They never disappoint.
You should have a box for 'dog friendly'.... the best welcome for Elf, our canine friend - and a veritable "doggy bag" for him. Delicious fish for us too...
Great restaurant, really enjoyed my meal and service. Staff are lovely. Will hopefully visit again.
Fish is fresh, tastes good and dishes are well prepared. Laid back local restaurant. Wooden tables, relaxing, unpretentious, simple decor. Good service.
Great atmosphere, fantastic fresh and responsibly sourced seafood, thoroughly recommended
Best fish and chips ever!! Gluten free options too.
Made with the care and pride taken back in the day. It's the best fish and chips in West London.
Fresh fish, crisp batter and delicious chips cooked in beef dripping. And the owner/managers are always friendly and provide great service. What's not to love?
hard to find good seafood chowder - here, it is consistently excellent, as are the fish and chips with daily menu changes in case 'the usual' isn't to everyones taste.
looking forward to the next visit... hopefully very soon!
