Look forward to going back for full tasting!
Best butter chicken in the land. Thoughtfully prepared tandoori fare, gracious staff.
The food was good however service is very poor. Stuff where inattentive and rude.
Staff very inefficient and we had our starter before our drinks arrived. My thoughts were that the staff believed they were too good to be there. Very disappointed with the service. Food good but nothing special. Service very slow and we had to ask numerous times to order drinks! We gave up trying to order wine. No imitative when we asked about the menu. Great let down
Appalling overcharging on one drink for a small group of 3. I could have purchased 4 bottles at that price!!! And then when a revised bill was then received with the item taken off, we notice an imaginary £35 bottle of wine added!!!??
So disappointing, I wish we’d had time to speak to the manager but the time wasted in querying the bill both times pushed us back and we had to head off.
It was a special occasion with friends especially after so long and each of us felt robbed and wondered how many other people have paid a bill there not noticing fake charges have been added..
Oh one other thing they told be our table had been cancelled when we arrived, although none of us had done so and once sat down within 20minutes we were asked if we could move!!!!
I know a lot of people working in the area and will not be recommending it!
We decided to go there on special family occasion and were really disappointed with the food. It tasted of no real spice / even the food was not having enough salt!!!.
Vegetarian choices are also quite bad.
Would recommend someone to avoid this and instead visit Benares.
What a disappointment . We have been to The CC lots of times but on this occasion I'm afraid the service was appalling. Food literally plonked on the table, staff looking bored and food varying between cold and lukewarm. It takes a bad experience to jolt you into action and make a change. Bye Bye CC we are off to find somewhere we are valued.
Amazing delicate cuisine, beautifully presented and full of flavours.
Definitely a special occasion with mains starting at £22 but if you can get the early dinner set menu, having had this in one of the other restaurants, that would be a must.
I did find it strange that such a great restaurant with expensive food that the table was wonky.
Delicious food and great service, Sunday early deal was really good value.
Having been to this restaurant a couple of years ago for a lovely dinner I thought it would be a nice idea to take my father for his birthday, plus with the prospect of a ‘Lazy Sunday afternoon with Jazz’ and £45pp for a set menuI thought this would be perfect for our party of 9. How wrong I was.
I never bother with reviews but I feel compelled to share how terrible this was. Having booked a table for 14:00 we were immediately told on arrival that the kitchen closed at 14:45. Service was none existent because they only had 3 staff trying to cover c.50 covers (one of whom was incredibly miserable and the other chap trying to do his best. Not to mention the jazz that barely lasted more than 15 mins.
Having to wait 30 mins for a drink was bad enough but after another half an hour the cracks were starting to appear - Cold starters (no starter for the vegetarian in our party as they weren’t able to prepare something), average food, they forgot the wine, then the chutneys, then the bread to go with the chutney. And now having reviewed the bill I’ve seen that they’ve charged us £32 for the privilege when we only order two selection of breads.
Eventually we finished but the icing on the cake was during desert we were told not to order wine with the cheese because they had something else prepared. Intrigued by the prospect of a goodwill gesture we were pleasantly surprised when they bought us out a bottle of Prosecco and a cup cake with candle for my father plus a card signed by all the staff and were told it was on the house.
Happy with this we were prepared not to complain but the nail in the coffin was upon arriving home and finding out that the bottle of Prosecco which we told was “on the house” was in fact a gift bought by my brother for my father because he wasn’t able to make it!!!! Terrible.
Fabulous food, service, and setting..... what a lovely lazy Sunday lunch. We’ll definitely be back.
Food excellent. Service staff excellent. Woman at entrance who checks your reservation had a snooty snobby vibe. Not very welcoming but rest of the staff are very friendly and warm. Lamb starter is delicious as well as the rack of lamb main. Highly recommended.
Fabulous food and ambiance. Courteous staff. A bit out of the way but worth the effort to get there for a delightful meal!
Fantastic as always
Having visited The Cinnamon club many times over the years and always enjoying the experience this time we were disappointed .
whilst the room is full of character and is visually fascinating the food was less so.
A few stringy Okra filled with something unidentifiable and a chicken dish that had obviously been sitting under a hotplate as there was film over it . It was dry and tasteless
Maybe lunch service is not the one to go with although the restaurant was busy I felt nothing was freshly cooked which at the prices and with it's reputation it doesn't compare to Gymkhana and other establishments of the same ethnicity .
Great service. Attentive for a birthday treat. Couldn’t tip by card
I can remember this place when it was still a library but that was several decades ago. Retaining the walls lined with books preserves the image of its origins. For lunch today a former colleague and I had the 2 course set lunch at £27.50. This is an econonomical way of sampling the many flavours here. We each had the chicken tikka starter - soft and tasty. We both followed with the chicken madras. For me the taste was overtaken by the fiery flavour, for which I was not prepared as no indication on the menu. Service was very attentive. Today the restaurant was largely empty which was not my experience of some previous visits
Very good indian food. Quick service although lots of people in the restaurant. Worth the price.
the service was a little slow but they were busy so understandable
Incredible food with attentive service again.
Everything was great. I am a regular recently and it is nice to be recognised in front of your guests.
There food was excellent, but what started as a £30 per head set dinner had crept up to over £200 for three people. Far too much for the work that had gone into the food. The main reason for never going back was not the food but the quality of service. No one seemed to be running the floor and grabbing finished dishes as you head back to the kitchen is not the way to wait table. They all felt like untrained students and not the professional staff I would expect at this level of restaurant.
This is my 5th time I've been and food was lovely. There did seem to be less staff though so some parts of the service wasn't as good as I had before. I didn't formally complain but I just told our waiter and the manager Alessandro overheard. He went above and beyond to rectify things and was over generous with us and the final bill. For which we are grateful for the kindness. :) The staff are friendly and the live music was a lovely touch too. I will still be coming back and so will my friends.
Really nice Sunday lunch menu better than expected as per afternoon concert menu it’s very convenient for St. John’s smith Square for performances
Really lovely food but service was a let down . Extremely understaffed. Waiting staff worked hard and rushed off their feet but clear not enough staff as at almost every point had to try to get attention but very difficult as hardly anyone around! Real Shame. For price you would expect a high level service with adequate staffing levels.
As always at the Cinnamon Club the staff charmed, and the food delighted, my guest who was a first time visitor. She wants to take her parents.
Exceptional service and delicious food, lunch set-menu is very good value.
Great place and the food was incredible. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! I will definitely return at some point. Thank you
Simply amazing food and atmosphere.
Had a booking at 18:30 for dinner with a friend. Reception was great and table was ready on time. I ordered some cocktails and the tasting menu. Cocktails arrived after 5mins, together with first dish. However, we ended up with quite a few waiters and we ordered a second round of cocktails that took about 15 mins to come. I asked for the cocktail menu with the last dish and that arrived quite quick however the waiter never came back to take the order, and we were there for another 20 mins.
Having said that, food is still as great as the first time I went there.
Initially we were put into a small side room that lacked atmosphere. I asked to be moved to large main room. It took over 10mins to arrange when with tables appearing free. So it made me feel I was not important enough.
On Christmas Eve booking we were being served our main course when we still had not finished our starters. Looked like staff wanted to run out to catch tune / buses homes before shutdown. But still Cinnamon club should be looking after staff better on a day like this and not made customers suffer with poor and rushed service.
Lastly, I rarely carry cash. Restaurant does not accept tips on the bill. Cinnamon club should explain how staff are rewarded for good service. Puts customers in awkward position when can’t show appreciation due to not having cash.
Interesting restaurant with books around
Food was cold and vegan menu not brilliant. Was given half a bottle of wine as compensation...
Incredibly flavor full food with a perfect blend of spices. Portions are small for Indian food that is generally served family style. However, I'm glad to have had the experience of dining here and experiencing the kind, meticulous staff.
The Cinnamon Club is a well-known, upscale Indian restaurant in London. The staff were very friendly and attentive; the menu was delicious (fresh taste, deliciously spiced), and there was no long wait for the food. On a Monday evening, the noise level was pleasantly low (a little louder once a function room connected to the main room got populated with someone's party) . The amounts of food are smallish, as is often the case in high-end places, but it was enough to leave satisfied. The interior design with its large library-like wall is beautiful (I say "library-like" although the books are real, it's not a real library in the sense that the books are decorative only - sorted by colour rather than actually used/read by anyone - but of course that does not diminish the flair). The crowd there is mixed, and we saw one table was taken by MPs. The experience was overall very pleasant, we've been talking about the evening a couple of times since. We will go again - our visit is a clear case for 5* for me.
The food is good, though quite pricey for the quality. The service however was abominable. Got several drinks at the same time, as a result of which the white wine was warm before we got to that. Starters took too long, mains were too fast after starters. For some reason no show fee has been charged to my credit card. You can’t price your menu the way they do, for such service. Not recommendable
The Cinnamon Club is a reataurant past it due date. Nice place but the food is not close to what i expected and paid for.
Raw octopus that was supposed to be grilled, same sauces used for several dishes, sold meals etc.
looks a lot to me like surfing the wave of the golden days that have left some years ago.
The food was delicious but the service was terrible. We ordered 3 cocktails to start and only one came. Our server disappeared and we kept having to ask random servers for water, check etc. The food arrived so fast that we were in and out in under 45 minutes. Not the enjoyable dinner we had hoped for.
Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere. Mango lassis in particular are fantastic definitely get one if you go! As a non-spice lover I was really challenged but the staff were so nice and made me a special cucumber yoghurt to cool me down! Got a voucher from my parents for Christmas so was easily worth the money.
The Cinnamon club should not accept bookings at 10.30 pm if they are not able to deliver according to their reputation and price level.
Food was reheated. The king prawns insulting so. Service inattentive. Steep bill.
