We asked for house wine & expected a budget wine. We were given quality wines which were not “budget” or “house” and were more expensive that we expected.

Excellent food and good service from the staff. The service of food was slow at times however. The menu is outstanding and offers a range of beautiful dishes, as is the wine list.

What an incredible restaurant. The old Westminster library is an enchanting location, with books climbing up the walls. The service was impeccable -- we were attended to whenever we needed something, but the servers never felt like they were hovering. And the food! Oh my God, the food. Someone on Yelp said that it's a mix of Indian and French cooking, which I'm sure it's true, but I'm mostly focused on the fact that everything we ate was perfection. Every dish had complex, layered flavors that revealed themselves over time. This is a must for anyone staying in London.

The restaurant is listed on many lists for being spicy and the menu says the same but none of the food was spicy. We asked for the spiciest dishes and to make it for local Indian palates but they couldn’t seem to go beyond what UK western spicy level must be. They instead gave us chillis to make it spicy ourselves. The service was the worst I’ve had at this price point. They forgot the water, messed up my cocktail and couldn’t recommend or convey to the chef what we would like for our dishes. The waitstaff appeared to be team style so too many or no one was looking after us and we had to request to place our orders and drinks orders 5 times. So the time they were around did not seem intuitive.

A fabulous restaurant, where staff are attentive but not overbearing, the food is excellent we (4 of us) shared the mid summer feast and it was truly gorgeous. the flavours were succinct and not overpowering. the items served as part of this menu were often item that you wouldn't normally order but the tastes were sublime. the atmosphere was vibrant but you could easily hold a conversation on the table without straining to listen.
a thoroughly enjoyable occasion

I wrongly assumed that the flavours might be a little toned down for a gentler palate but was pleasantly surprised to find bold flavours and spices in the main curry dishes. We opted for the Midsummer feast which was well worth it. My favourite dish was the monkfish curry though the butter chicken was a very close contender. The surroundings are very uniquie and made me feel like I was eating in the library from Beauty and the Beast!

We had the taster menu and wine accompaniment. Food was absolutely fantastic, especially the prawns and the lamb. The wines complemented the food perfectly. Service however was not up to the standard of the food. Appetisers and desert were plonked down by a junior waiter without any explanation and bizarrely we ran out of cutlery for the final course, requiring us to have to ask for knives and forks. For a meal costing in excess of £400 ( including pre- dinner cocktails) for 2 I’d expect far better. It’s a shame, because a little bit more effort on front of house service and Michelin stars would be raining down.

I was vacationing in London with my family and I suggested The Cinnamon Club based on a very good previous experience. This time was very different, in a bad way. First my party of five showed up for our reservation and we were taken upstairs to a small round table that was really only suitable for 3 people. All the other tables had tablecloths, ours was just bare wood. I asked for a different table but was told that the downstairs area was full of people who had made reservations in March. I the asked for the gin trolley. I was told that it is only for downstairs and that we done need to worry about that because it was the expensive premium gins. In other words, those of us seated upstairs can’t afford those gins. The waiter was exceptionally unhelpful in every way. I went down to the gin trolley myself and selected the gin I wanted. The food was pretty good, but it was served like warm. This was a terrible experience all around for which I had the pleasure of paying £400. Never again. In fact I would like a refund!

Venue is very grand and the service is good. The food was very tasty and well presented. Unfortunately, half of the food was a bit cold, and by the time it had been taken away and warmed up, the rest of the food (and the replacement plates) was cold.

We waited 1 hour 20 minutes for our table, which is totally unacceptable with the excuse that the previous occupants were still at the table. Clearly the booking system does not work.
The staff were excellent especially the receptionist who took the brunt of our complaint but dealt with it very well. The food was outstanding.
Would recommend the food and staff service but expect a delay in getting your table on time.
We were not the only people waiting and at times there were a number of people waiting in the bar for their tables

We visited for a pre theatre meal when we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. It was excellent from start to finish. Attentive and warm and friendly staff. Understating of our time constraints and so very fast service by not rushed. Even a card and anniversary cake! Truly excellent and we will be back to take it all in at a more leisurely pace next time!

It’s a good thing Google MAPS brought me right to the doorstep of The Cinnamon Club because there is no external sign to indicate it’s a restaurant.

When I remarked on this omission to the pleasant receptionist inside, she said it’s a converted library and that they weren’t allowed to stick up external signs.

I walked into the dining hall wearing shorts and slippers — after spending a few hours at nearby St James’s Park writing my Malaysian newspaper column on a park bench, and enjoying the mid-day sun on a glorious summer’s day. I was taken aback at how fancy the dining room looked and at how well dressed everyone but I was; nonetheless the staff made me feel welcome.

The ambience was outstanding, mainly because I’m a sucker for books, bookstores, libraries, and now apparently restaurants in converted libraries run by people smart enough to retain endless shelves of old books! I can’t speak for the other diners but I felt smarter just eating in the company of several thousand well-bound books. Perhaps it was osmosis.

I found the food good.

And when the bill came I was surprised at how little my meal cost, based on my expectations of London fine dining prices. All told, it was an excellent late lunch dining experience.

Should you plan to go, just make sure you can find it!

We Enjoyed probably the most delicious meals of the year so far. Balmoral venison tandoori and black stone flower reduction was... well absolutely exquisite. I haven’t enjoyed food more. The service in the restaurant was good. The only reason for 4 stars being given is that we were ignored in the cocktail bar and watched table after table getting cocktails served until finally the waitress came over - just as we were called to our table. Disappointing not to have a cocktail start for our celebratory meal that we’d come a long way for. However the food was sublime !!

The food and service was great BUT we were seated at an extra room away from the main dining hall. The room behind doors looked unprepared with cheap seats and extra tablecloths left at the bottom of some drawer. It was clean but not part of the main dining room the library. It felt as if we were the undesirables and not part of the rest of the patrons. Too bad for that cause the service and food was amazing!

This restaurant does not seem to care about “service with a smile,” except for VIP’s. This is a constant thread in reviews my wife has read about the restaurant. Friends of ours have had the same experiences. Good food, unfriendly service except to people that the restaurant deems important.
