We booked a Christmas meal and were told we could not have one when we got there. We except that, but they could have brought us some crackers out. We waited quite a while for food. The game pie had no game in, mainly vegetables. The fondue pudding we felt for 8.30 was a real rip off. I am afraid we will not be returning
Lovely lunch time tapas. Great service, friendly and helpful
Lively, grown up, boutique restaurant and cocktail bar.
Very enjoyable. Good choice of Tapas. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Could have done with more table room and a bigger plate! Will go again.
Fabulous restaurant with the most delicious steaks! Reasonably priced for the serving size and the fact that the sauce is included, whereas most other restaurants have optional sauces at an additional price. Attentive service by very pleasant and friendly staff, always willing to help and go that extra mile. 2nd visit to this restaurant when travelling for business and definitely as good second time around!
Game Pie outstanding. Fillet Steak excellent - cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef Nathan. Beautiful presentation and good friendly service.
Over night stay. Had game pie which was delicious and prawn cocktail to start. Food was good. Hotel staff friendly and cost ok. Lights s bit bright for me but that’s only criticism... would go again
Super lunch, great service and very relaxing. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
An enjoyable experience in what is, an excellent location. Staff were friendly and prompt and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. All in all I would recommend the experience and would consider returning for special occasions.
Good service good food nice environment will return
Absolutely superb. Some of the best cuisine to be found in Folkestone, in a setting which has been very tastefully restored and with great sea views from the bar too. The service was excellent and the prices, whilst not cheap, were no more expensive than comparable restaurants and certainly justified by the excellence of the food. Would definitely recommend.
Ingagement celebration , 5 people so round table asked for and it was perfect
Really liked our meal, staff were very nice, only downside was candle a lit table in a very brightly lit room, therefore the ambience disappointing. Easily rectified. Overall great food and an enjoyable evening, we will definitely be going back.
Fantastic service, fantastic food, fantastic value would recommend 100%
Our visit was rather marred by a very noisy set of diners...the Restaurant was very full. Perhaps some sort of coating on the ceiling would help to deaden the noise?
It is such a pleasant setting, the food is on the whole good and slightly unusual, with good wine on offer, and the service excellent.
This restaurant is local to me. It is located on The Leas Promenade which provides a great view across the Channel to France. I have been several times for dinner or lunch and Often for coffee. The food is very good and the staff pleasant and helpful.
Great buzzy cocktail bar. Great decor. Great food. Great service. Great ambience. What more can I say. Fabulous
We had an excellent meal, my wife had the lamb and I had the salmon, both meals were excellent. The service very good and the atmosphere was excellent.
Could not fault this restaurant! Good perfectly cooked and presented. I am already planning my next visit.
A lovely meal in a beautiful hotel lovingly restored back to its former glory. Good service & a great atmosphere!
Excellent food. Due to mistake, they delayed our order and, as an apology, they cut our bill in half
First time dining at The Cliffe. Used cocktail bar beforehand which was lovely
Able to book table through open table and we were both impressed with the ambience, staff and delicious food. Definitely will be returning!
We have eaten here on 4 occasions and always had good food . Lunch on bank holiday Monday the service was very slow. The other evening was much better.
Good friendly staff, good service, well priced, well cooked food in a very nice environment. Highly recommended!
we thoroughly enjoyed a Sunday Lunch- with staff who worked hard to please - thank you
Overall our experience was excellent. Both for having a cocktail, dining or staying in the beautiful rooms this is an excellent location. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful ( especially Holly).
My only recommendation would be that the ladies toilets are checked regularly to replenish toilet tissue and tidy up from disrespectful customers.
Had an evening Meal here while staying locally in Sandgate. Very nice food and friendly service.
Really good service, not rushed, just right, waitress was polite, friendly and professional, the food was lovely and well presented, reasonable prices as well, would definitely return.
Food was nice but bar and restaurant service very poor. I was surprised not be offered anything to go with our pre dinner drinks not even a menu buy something from! I think that there were not enough staff, as a result some of the dishes were not very hot and the wine did not arrive on time. The glasses on the table were not cleared and so there was very little room.
Attention to service detail and more staff would help.
Lovely will be coming back , food was the best , staff very friendly and welcoming
Jad lunch with an old friend. We both had salmon which was cooked to perfection. Chocolate mousse for dessert was lovely. The service was great.
It was my son 30th birthday, the food was excellent although some items were not available on the desert menu. He especially liked the Gins!
A very nice ambience and location (sea views). Pleasant, helpful & efficient staff, fresh & tasty food, set lunch good value. My friends from London loved it.
Amazing food, amazing location, amazing decor and amazing staff!! Only negative I could bring to the review is that we had to ask once in the bar where the restaurant was as it wasn't clearly posted!! The food was above expectations and the staff were friendly and attentive but not too in your face like some places! Having known what the place looked like before the renovation the owners have done an amazing job.
A very enjoyable evening, good food and pleasant ambiance, a bit noisy later on.
Good value for money.
We had an amazing time with our friends celebrating our wedding anniversary. We requested the table by the window and the restaurant accommodated us with our request. Lovely and friendly staff including manager. Just the perfect place to dine.
This was our first visit to The Cliffe Restaurant. Fantastic food and friendly waitress service.
Disappointed that we had to wait 1 hour 15 mins to receive our starter. Our waitress was aware of our wait (we didn't need to tell her, she was on the ball) and was apologetic but a good will gesture to take the cost of the starters off the final bill would have been appropriate, or perhaps a complementary drink whilst we wait!
Excellent food, wonderful views and ambience, however the Restaurant is let down badly by bar staff who are relied on unfairly to look after restaurant customers, which compromises them, and the level of service the customers receive, as they are clearly not trained to the level required for the identity the place is trying to portray.
If they can get a Maitre D' and wine waiter and just more organisation in the restaurant, this would be an amazing place.
Dissapointing first visit overall, but staff are being compromised at no fault of there own.
We had a family lunch there and will definitely return. The desserts in particular were fabulous! Friendly, attentive service. They even called us to let us know that a large party was coming in just after us, so we knew to arrive and order promptly.
The food was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were also very polite and very welcoming. It's definitely worth the travel, I'd definately go there again. Best food I've experienced.
My other half is a high up chef. He was also very pleased with the food, service and atmosphere. 10000/10.
