Sunday Lunch
The Clissold Arms is a family owned local Gastropub with a longstanding history within the community. We have a wonderfully loyal local clientele and take pride in rewarding them with a reliably warm welcome and our delicious menus designed around our “Food Comes First” philosophy.

From our famous, signature Sunday Roasts with our renowned Giant Yorkshire Puds to our lighter bites and fish dishes, fresh from our local fishmonger, our Chefs are always challenging themselves to create new, inspired dishes. Our varied A La Carte menu changes daily and offers a wide choice of starters, main courses and desserts, carefully put together by our kitchen team.

Our large selection of beers, ciders and wines change regularly to compliment both the menu and the season. All can be enjoyed in any of our five unique spaces within the pub. An inviting place where you instantly feel at home.

Not sure what had happened at clissold arms & unsure if because it was Valentine’s Day. We went for dinner, but There were not many diners. Limited menu & limited wine choice. Didn’t have the bottle of wine we wanted. Very slow serving drinks.
Might be trying to do too much as they had a film in in one area & a DJ playing in bar area for approximate 6 people. Think trying to appeal to too many people & not achieving anything

Staff friendly and helpful. Food OK: roast beef was very good but prawns and cod could have been from a packet. Nothing wrong with them but nothing special.
Very noisy as there was a party in the main bar.

This used to be a great family gastropub, now it's part eating / part disco. They didn't have 2 of the mains we wanted, or the wine, or the puddings. We were offered a free glass of alternate wine, which we never got. The food was luke warm and the service a bit hit and miss. About 8pm the disco started which was deafening where we were sat (out by the men's toilets). All in all a very disappointing visit. Not sure we'll be going back and this used to be a regular...

The Sunday lunch is the best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a pub. Have been back three times because it’s so good. The staff are all friendly and chatty, which is lovely. One thing I will say is that on Sunday our roasts came out so quickly our drinks hadn’t even arrived yet - which is fine but does make you feel as though you’re being rushed. Would also say the price seems to have gone up recently, so though it is a fantastic roast, it’s definitely only a special occasion one.

Overall though, it’s a lovely pub with a great atmosphere and the food is amazing.

Nothing special. Waiters were clueless, twice brought us someone else’s food. No thanks or similar pleasantries. Ordered a £28 fillet steak, medium, got a fillet steak that wasn’t even close to rare. Cabbage was very undercooked and dauphinois potatoes were served as you would expect for a school dinner; a square chunk. Used to be a great pub with a great atmosphere when George had it, now it’s full of staff who seem to spend more time on their mobiles rather than serving the paying customers. Won’t be going back.

Changed hands recently, the food is better now. Great Sunday lunch, vegetables cooked to perfection.

Terrible service, had to wait 45mins for a desert menu and 30mins for the bill. Wasn't very busy so no excuses, they just forgot about us.

We have been here many times in the past under previous management and it was a place full of buzz and atmosphere, but I’m afraid standards have dropped terribly. We told the restaurant that our friends were travelling to see us but were running late for our pre booked table and the restaurant was fine with this, although the waitress confusingly told us to order our drinks from the bar rather than take an order or give us a menu. The restaurant was not busy and she stood there doing nothing while we got our drinks form the bar and brought them back to the table. We didn’t get the wine we ordered just the last bottle of Chardonnay they happened to have and the beer was flat. The waitress made no effort to engage and eventually the manager came over to check on us and we asked for a menu. They had run out of steak completely. But at end of meal, plates were cleared and our guests glass still with wine in was taken away. We weren’t offered any desert which we had wanted and just got the impression that the staff wanted us to go so they could close. The service was so poor that we asked to see the manager to explain that we weren’t happy to pay the service as it had been so bad. He tried to resolve but we needed to leave - it seems that the staff were not trained and don’t know how to give good service and don’t care. Such a shame that the place has changed so much - we won’t be going back and I’ve deleted the number from my phone

Good food, reasonable service, pleasant atmosphere, a little expensive.
Manageress very attentive, seemed to have difficulty in getting some staff to carry out instructions.
