Gorgeous roast with perfect veggies to go with it including cauliflower cheese without having to order it as a side 10/10
Having recently started to open on a Friday afternoon for lunch I highly recommend. Good to support a local business who does exceptional food in such a lovely quirky environment! x
Great food and service.
The roast dinner was one of the more expensive roasts but very nice and flavoursome
The place was under construction so very noisy as music was put on loud to compensate. Menu was via a website but no signal downstairs so had to look on waiter's phone which felt awkward and pressured us into a decision. We visited for Sunday lunch and the food was lovely although was disappointed the vegan option didn't come with the same trimmings, especially as I am not actually vegan just didn't want the meat options. No gravy either. That said, the atmosphere was quite buzzing even for a Sunday afternoon and the food was tasty. Nice enough place, but probably wouldn't rush back.
Best food I've had in Bristol in 20 years. Genuinely! And no, I don't know the people who run it. Just great food!
2 staff members seemed rude, the drink we had was not very good. One staff made up for the rest.
The Sunday lunch menu was outstanding and genuinely one of (if not) the best I’ve ever had. Staff really friendly, nice relaxed atmosphere and will definitely be going back. Would highly recommend.
Good COVID processes. Service was really attentive and really lovely Sunday lunch. Quality of food was surprising
Amazing food!!! Had the beef short rib, it fell apart and all the sides was just as nice
You must try the trout starter and also the beetroot! Winners for us!
Great food and excellent service. Waiters were very attentive and helpful. Food was delicious! Can't wait to go back!
Get this food at these prices while you can! This chef is going places. Fine dining and creative and tasty food at very reasonable prices.
We had every nibble, and every small plate (and virtually every cocktail!) -nothing but praise for this place. Great service, Covid restrictions not too restricting-it almost felt like a normal night out. The food was magnificent really tasty loads of interesting flavours, cocktails delish, and waiters’ didn’t hang around bringing us new ones. Thanks guys for a memorable night out.
Really impressed. Loved the decor. The table plan completely adheres to social distancing. Food delicious. Already planning our next evening there
The food was amazing, had a very good roast. Not your average flavours - in a good way
Great food as always!!
This place is amazing, the love that goes in to this food is incredible. I had the beef rib roast and in was probably the best roast dinner I have eaten! I will definitely be back to sample some other dishes. my husbands pork was also amazing.
First class food. Loved it! Great vegetarian options too
Excellent food -best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had! Will be returning 😋
We thought my partner couldn’t have a starter as they all had gluten in them. However the chef made the effort to come out and talk to us to see if he could provide something else. He gave my partner a fantastic sushi dish especially for him. What fantastic service, they really went out of their way. The roast was also fantastic!
So pleased we chose to eat at Cloak and Dagger. The food was very impressive, we enjoyed every single dish. It's clear a lot of thought went in to the menu and is the product of a true food lover. Highly recommend!
Really delicious food and excellent service. Will be returning!
I ordered what I thought might be a simple burger, but it was packed with deliciousness. Lots of rich flavour and texture and beautifully presented. Also - Pickled chips! Might be one of the best ideas ever.
Discovered during eat out to help out via recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed! Super chill vibe, beautiful food clearly made with passion and friendly, informal service.
What can I say. I think this is one of the best meals for taste I've had in Bristol (I converted from huge meat eater to vegan!) But also, my friend said the same and he was a huge fan of the pickled chicken starter (best fried chicken in Bristol hands down). The service was impeccable. Never awkward. Friendly. Personable. Happy people. Started with an off menu cocktail downstairs and the bill came to a very reasonable price with 3 drinks. Considering it was eat out to help out, £42 bill so in normal circumstances,. £62 for a 3 course meal and 3 drinks for 2. Great for a date or if you just want some great food. Will defo go back
Quirky setting, food is focused around vegan food service was fantastic
Quirky place to eat with beautifully presented dishes, great value for money and really tasty.
Honestly the best food/dining experience I've had in ages, and the value for money is incredible.
Delicious meal, fantastic different flavours, attention to detail, beautifully presented. Lovely friendly welcoming team, everything served with a smile. Great ambience, relaxed and chilled, fab fun and funky decor! A perfect evening...my 3rd visit in 3 weeks!
We visited on Saturday with a last minute booking. Had a lovely tasty meal and were very well looked after. Would thoroughly recommend
My wife and I greatly enjoyed our meal. The starters and desserts were particularly good. The main courses were tasty but perhaps a bit salty, and it would have been nice to have had some rice or a similar contrasting accompaniment to go along with the charred haddock.
We asked for the small plates and large to arrive at the same time as someone was having two small plates as a main. Simple enough. However the small plates arrived and then it took another 50 minutes for the large plates to arrive which was very awkward as it meant we were completely out of sync of eating with each other. There was no apology or even recognition which was pretty rude especially as they didn't seem that busy. Even if they were busy it's not hard to say sorry for the food taking that long. Anything over 30/40mins waiting time should be flagged.
The portions are very small which we expected but after waiting so long and seeing such small portions it wasn't a pleasing sight. Luckily we went on an eat out to help out discount or it would have not felt like we got our money's worth. I must say the food was really delicious and I would like to vouch for the place regarding that. If we had got the food at the correct time or even got an apology I wouldn't have even felt the need to write this review at all.
Very nice food, good service and amazing value. Highly recommended
Lovely food (pickled chips were delightful).
Ambience was good - needed to change the one music track though (Gogglebox theme tune was played about ten times before getting changed).
Had a lovely meal at The Cloak and Dagger with 3 courses for only £10... unbelievable value (usually £20 but used with the eat out to help out scheme). Friendly and attentive staff with a cool atmosphere. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the pickled chips, but to fair it's probably a good job as the rest of the food was so good I probably couldn't have fit them in!
We had our first visit this week using the eat out to help out scheme - delicious food, friendly & attentive staff and a lovely quirky venue. Will definitely come back!
Absolutely delicious food! And so well priced. Great service and inventive cooking too, the Frank's hot sauce and soy foam blew my mind, I could have had that with a straw! Will definitely come back. Great cocktails too!
Young team serving excellent food from a narrow menu. Really good quality and value for money
We had a fantastic meal at the Cloak and Dagger during the first week of the eat out to help out scheme. Despite being very busy, the service was excellent and the food was exceptional. As part of the scheme, we had 3 delicious courses with a bottle of wine for £20 each. I’m looking forward to revisiting this quirky hidden gem in the near future and would highly recommend it to Bristol foodies!
Went for a Sunday roast at 7pm. Obviously quieter time and late in service but the quality did not suffer in the slightest. Had the pickled fried chicken starter followed by Umami beef short rib and wasabi glazed pork mains and Hibiscus pan a cotta/ Caramel chocolate mousse desserts. Wonderful mix of flavours In all dishes and just what was needed after finishing running my own service earlier! Great value, when considering portion size and quality and great, comfortable service throughout. Good selection of beers, lost and grounded being a great choice for the beer selection.
One of, if not THE best roast I’ve had in Bristol.
Will 100% be back next time I have an early finish on a Sunday, thank you!
