The atmosphere and staff were lovely. We sat in a booth and had a wonderful time. All the food was excellent….apart from the beef! Loved the Chowder and tempura. Our main was the Sunday roast. Everything was great apart from the beef. We went pink but it was a bit chewy. This is the only reason we didn’t give it 5 stars. We would return for aure

We had a lovely large table for two of us, three staff were attentive without being overbearing. The food was delicious and the cocktails were the best in the area.

Overall it was decent - it's a lovely building and we had a comfortable booth by the window. Food-wise, 2 mains were good - 2 were disappointing. Drinks-wise, we tried to order 2 of the wines but both were off the wine list so that's not good for a hotel. Our main issue was the welcome and initial service we received...every food business should be open arms on a Monday night to a table of 4 ordering food and wine. Would make me reluctant to book again.

Genuinely the best fish & chips Ive had since 2007. Service was faultless (very personable, attentive and warm). Considering the quality of the food and drink the value was excellent. The Cloth Ear was everything we wanted it to be.

Food pleasant, staff lovely but noise level overwhelming. Have you ever booked a restaurant because it had a great menu then arrived to discover that you couldn’t hear yourself speak? It was one of those. Sad because food was very nice ( the bread really brilliant with cheddar sauce and seaweed butter) but we left as soon as possible , as it was impossible to talk or even hear the servers. The management really need to consider their music level policy.. Would strongly recommend against going unless you really don’t want to talk to anybody in your party!
