When I arrived I was greeted by a smiling young woman who showed me to a lovely table by the window. Bar staff were friendly, restaurant waiting staff very knowledgeable about the menu. Food was beautiful. There 3 clean plates at the end. Would recommend for lunch. Thank you for making my friends birthday lunch special.

Myself and 3 others had dinner yesterday in the Cloth Ear. I had stated on the booking that 1 of the diners was Coeliac. I also made this clear when ordering my food. I had chicken wings to start and the chowder with gluten free bread as my main course at around 5pm. At around 7.30pm I began to suffer the severe effects of gluten poisoning. This is the second time that this has occurred after eating in this restaurant. My husband and I ate regularly in the Cloth Ear and were always happy with the food and I never got sick. But, this is the 2nd time this has happened in a 12 month period. My complaint/concern is that I was assured that the food was gluten free and it clearly it wasn't. I WILL NOT be back in the Cloth Ear again.

Lovely lunch, great service, delicious meal and comfortable surroundings. We would definitely recommend and return if we visit Belfast again. Somewhere that knows how to look after you inside and out.

Table booked, met by an unsmiling member of staff and shown to table without being asked if we’d like a drink, waited 15 minutes before getting the attention of staff to order a drink. Ordered the drink that was on the menu as special of the day only for the waitress to return to advise they didn’t have the tonic water in stock for the drink. Food was average when it came, one of our party ordered a toasted sandwich asking if she could modify it only to be told they can’t be modified as they are ready made. When the toastie arrived it was poor in quality. Very disappointed, the Cloth Ear has really lost its way, my last visit to it was quite a number of years ago and the service and food were very good, I definitely won’t be back.
