Grilled Whole Lobster
As always, great food & amazing customer service!
I was disappointed having booked a table for 8pm to have to wait 20 minutes because our table was occupied. Staff then tried to seat 6 of us on a table for 4 people.
We were tucked away in the corner by the door - it was freezing! We all had our coats on, as did other tables.
The food was...ok. 3/6 of our party had steaks. The chef came over and admitted he had over cooked the steaks and had to be redone. The other steak was a tomahawk, which was suggested to be cooked medium. It was rare. I recognise it can be difficult to know with a piece that size but this place is supposed to specialise in need and steaks, so it was disappointing.
I don’t doubt the food was all cooked fresh, we had to wait a while and we were happy to do so.
We were offered some ‘free entrees’ whilst we waited which we were grateful for. However, there was a lot missing that never arrived including milkshakes, prawns and onion rings. Considering the waitress came back with our order to double check it, it was disappointing that stuff still never turned up.
When it came to the bill, there was a lot on it we hadn’t ordered including the entrees we had been told we’re free to apologise for the wait.
It was resolved in the end but I picked this restaurant out because it had such good reviews but I was very underwhelmed.
Not a cheap burger but you pay for the quality. Excellent food, spoke to the owner and he really cared about the food he served. Would 100% recommend
customer service was appalling apart from main man that took order people serving was terrible un helpful didn’t offer more drinks didn’t clear table or offer puddings this is twice now and the service would not make me come back again .. food is good though
The customer service was slow and the waitress was very unhappy. Plus there was no social distancing, they put another group sitting right next to us. We walked out as didn't feel comfortable
The food was very nice but the proportion of meal size was not equal to the price. I paid £20 for a relatively small plate of ribs and my children were all still hungry after spending £80 for food and I did not have anything . The staff were lovely, the service was a bit slow but the one thing I did not enjoy at all was the ladies toilet, it was actually the public toilets section.... not at all something I would like to repeat anytime soon.
Amazing food, friendly staff. Unusual, hidden Jem of Crawley. Will definitely be back again!
If you love steak, or even just like steak, you need to visit the Clubhouse. Admittedly you need to hope the owner and head chef are there, because he really knows his steak and how to cook it, otherwise just have one of the incredible looking burgers!
We may have been lucky, but we had some amazing food, perfectly cooked and served piping hot, but one thing we agreed was that we would be going back.
My only regret is not having tried this place sooner.
Staff doesn't know what to do. Waiter like zombie, no smile, speak to quite. He was acting like being there for him was some kind of punishment. Other waitresses walking around all confused. 8 ppl in the kitchen. 50 minutes waiting for 3 burgers with fries!!! Not surprising when 2 "chefs" are outside and chilling with cigarettes. Buns cold, hard, not enough sauces. Toilets dirty. Manager tried to do everything at once. And the rest walked behind him and watch... it could be great place with good manager who can handle staff, plus with better staff.
Fab food! Service needs to be a bit quicker if possible. Lower ceiling to make it more cosy.
Food was amazing. Friendly staff. Great price. Will visit again
staff are kids have no clue what they are doing burger was cold
Wasnt what we expected but nice for a burger or snack will go again but was looking more for a romantic night.
Very good service as soon as you're seated they take your drinks order followed by food, quality of food is amazing would definitely recommend if you like your meat!! Been a few times and will 100% be back soon
We were the only customers in the restaurant and the service was sooo bad. We waited ages for the waitress to come and show us to our table as she was outside talking to friends
Went to the clubhouse with my family to eat.
I ordered the Philly cheesesteak (bearing in mind I ordered this on my previous visit to the clubhouse).
The cheesesteak was disappointing as first of all it did not come with peppers and onions. When I had the cheesesteak before it did have peppers and onions. Once I challenged the person at the front desk, I was told that if there are no peppers in the mix, then nothing can be done about it. This was quite disappointing as the cheesesteak was advertises incorrectly on the menu in this case.
Secondly, the overall cleanliness of the tables around me was poor as previous peoples dishes were still lying round, even though when we went it was empty. The floor was really dirty and the toilets were borderline disgusting.
I would give the clubhouse another go based off my first experience where the food was amazing. But the cleanliness of the place really needs to improve.
Advertisements do not reflect the reality - this is essentially a canteen on the edge of a municipal sports field, so there is no restaurant ambience; all tables are bar height and there’s a tall ceiling with brick walls so it’s quite noisy even with few customers. I had booked a table but was not greeted and instead had to stand in a queue along with customers who were paying, and those collecting a takeaway order. When I eventually reached the front of the queue the staff were surprised to hear I had booked a table, but I was brought over, given a menu, and when I asked whether there was table service or I had to order at the counter (more of a table, really) I was told told, “No, I am coming.” I made eye contact with the person who had seated me several times after deciding what to order and closing my menu. Eventually I went and asked a gentleman who appeared to be the manager, and he said, “I’m coming right away.” Time passed and the lady who originally seated me had a shocked look on her face, came over and took my order-35mins after I had arrived. She was polite and helped me choose a milkshake and a burger with “loaded fries” having some sauces and bacon bits. Pricing on the menu doesn’t seem to make much sense, with a £3 meal deal to add fries and a drink but the “loaded” part of the fries apparently costing an *additional* £4, so my meagre meal came to a whopping £19. The burger was nice, though the bun was a little bready, and presentation was good, while the fries were only lukewarm. Flavours in the sauces were interesting, but a few squirts from a bottle did not seem to warrant the £4 additional charge. The milkshake was possibly the worst I’ve ever had - thin and watery, and sickly-sweet, served in a disposable cup and insufficiently chilled; it was also served a significant time after my food for some reason. I was not given any napkins and had to ask for cutlery. The gentleman said “sorry about the wait” when I paid. Not part of Eat Out to Help Out.
Food was great. Service was slow. Pre order the lobster to avoid disappointment!
We have need traveling around England for the past couple of days and was staying at a hotel near Crawley. After a little bit of searching, came across “The Clubhouse”. It was my birthday after all, so I wanted some a little different than chain restaurants. This place was what we needed to celebrate my 46th birthday. We were seated outside as the sun was going down. The owner came to our table and asked what we would like. I wanted a steak, and not just any steak will do. Boy was I not disappointed. I got to visit the “dyager” where there were some beautiful pieces of meat. My dry aged steak came out hot and wonderful with added homemade peppercorn sauce. An explosion of flavors entered my mouth, truly an experience. The wife ordered the Italian style prawns, she was in heaven. My son and daughter ordered a burger and chicken respectively which they thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was quite attentive and extremely friendly.
If ever in the area or live near by and never been here, you will not be disappointed with the quality of food. The owner/chef really cares about the food he is preparing and serving to his guests.
Brilliant service and food. Would 100% recommend.
Unfortunately we had a bad experience here, we loved going here before lockdown so decided to book a table which didn’t pan out well. After turning up and being seated no one came and gave us a menu or anything. We had numerous staff walk past us but not even approach us to offer us a menu or suggest they would be coming to serve us. This was very disappointing and after being there 25 minutes we left. It seemed deliveries and collection was a priority.
Appeared we would of been better off ordering online rather than eating in.
Food was great. We decided to sit outside to eat. Table & chairs where on the grass. Could do with a concrete seating area.
Went to eat with a friend. Had the farmhouse burger and the philly cheese steak. Food was incredible. The owner was hospitable and took the time to come over and speak to us about the food and his business.
Disappointed that on the website there is no mention that this venue isn’t licensed.
You have to bring your own alcohol which wasn’t evident at time of booking, hence we cancelled and went elsewhere ( wasted journey )
Do not judge a book by its cover.
Unbelievable food and a great man at the wheel!
Great food and well priced.
We spoke with the owner who served us throughout who was a lovely and honest guy when asking questions to do with the menu.
Will be going back for sure!
Have recommended to others to try too!
The surrounding are very basic. Bit like a canteen but the food is out of this world!!!
Food excellent, service was great. We were made to feel welcome and not just a number. We will certainly be back.
An excellent experience. Outstanding food and service.Only downside is that toilets are in need of refurbishment.
Took ages for someone to take an order as they were too busy putting up decorations on another table. The wrong food then came out , though this was corrected everyone else had already eaten.Wouldn't come here again
The food was amazing, they guy serving us was really helpful and passionate about the place, 100% will be back
The Clubhouse is a hidden gem. Located in a cricket clubhouse it's not your usual restaurant however the quality of the ingredients & the cooking of Chef Azam shines through. Easily my favourite local restaurant. Friendly staff with a passion for food add to the charm.
Surely the best burgers in whole UK so far ! every restaurant I have visited, I had to try burgers and the Clubhouse ones are my absolute fave in that country. Finger licking meat, delicious, toasted bun and amazing sauces. Strawberry mohito makes you feel like it is summer already (even tho is just 1st of March). And the cherry on the top - Tiramisu ! I cant describe that with words, you just Must try that ! Highly recomended to everyone. Clubhouse is gonna be our favourite place for dinner from now on. 😍🔝💯 Next step - steaks ! Most likely it will be sooner rather than later (I have just booked table for next weekend 🤫🤷♀️ - you can do it via facebook - simply ! ). Well done guys, seriously !
Burger's were amazing, food overall was great. Very yummy.
Service was a bit poor, as she couldn't find some of the dishes and wasnt sure what you got for a meal deal.
But if you can get over that..... best place to eat.
Food produced by someone with an obvious passion. The finest ingredients clearly produce the finest food
Service was very poor as there was nobody there to greet us and advise on how to order etc.
The food is absolutely fantastic but the only downfall was that it was left sitting on a hot plate long before it was served to us and therefor quite cold when it finally got to us.
The food is amazing and a must eat but it would be much better if it arrived straight after being cooked instead of sitting for over 10 minutes
Halal steak was amazing! Very close to Gatwick Airport. Very friendly service!!! :)
Amazing food! Looking forward to going again! The service was excellent, really friendly relaxed place.
Great food and a great atmosphere. Definatly worth a trip down
