The Coal Shed
Our method at The Coal Shed is simple: the highest quality ingredients, sourced as locally as possible and expertly cooked. As well as a seasonal à la carte menu, we also offer daily specials, a great value express lunch and pre theatre menu plus Brighton's favourite Sunday Sharing Roasts.
Great restaurant, vibrant atmosphere, good service, fantastic food...
Busy even at 7.00 pm. Wonderful service and food was perfect. We were able to sample wine so we're able to pick a perfect wine. London standard but here in Brighton.
Amazing service and food! All staff was
So attentive. Fab steak!
Lamb over cooked pork was tough bit disappointing, croquettes were lovely dessert was ok,
Lovely warm welcome started the evening. The food and wine was really good served by friendly staff who were attentive but not obtrusive. I highly recommend this restaurant and told my Brighton friends about it so they can experience it too.
My review would be guarded as we had a great time, service was excellent and the food tasted great
However, one of our party had a shellfish dish which I had some of. Both of us were up all night with upset stomachs ! Coincidence ?
Had a first class meal here with my family for my daughters daughter's birthday.
Great staff, fab ambience, food and wine was superb. Highly recommended.
This used to be my favourite restaurant in Brighton. Sadly our latest visit was lacking somewhat. I did not enjoy dining upstairs, it felt very hemmed in and noisy, which I and another member of our party found challenging (sadly there were no tables downstairs to move to). The food was nice, but certainly not as wow as our previous visits.
Service was exceptional as ever and the staff are really fabulous and friendly. Hopefully this meal & experience was just a blip.
Lovely service and food!
Naughty little gaff, would recommend to my homies back in the hood.
Chicken is the best ever tasted and service spot on
Fantastic food. It was the best rib-eye I've ever had.
One of the best steaks I’ve had! Fantastic team and some delightful sides. Try the cabbage it’s amazing!
Food was good had sharing roast but thought the wine was overpriced for the type and range available. ie had a fluerie which was probably 4 times mark up. So because of this would not recommend again
Amazing food and service with just the right amount of atmosphere
Excellent Sunday lunch next time we stay in Brighton we will definitely return
Although we did enjoy the food the menu was very small so you would be best to look online before booking. Wine list was very disappointing no decent wine by the glass and was not going to pay there prices for a bottle.
Good quality ingredients well cooked and attentive service.
Yet again a wonderful lunch at The Coal Shed. This is, without any doubt, one of the best restaurants in Brighton!.
Good food and fair price. Nice atmosphere would recommend.
Arrived for 7pm on a Brighton Uni graduation day, so very busy everywhere. Booked table for 4 but forgot to include graduate that made party into 5.!! Staff quickly adjusted seating plan to accommodate my mistake. Excellent service & food. No hesitation in recommending.
We much enjoyed our first visit to The Coal Shed. Very friendly, professional and welcoming staff. Great food. Will visit again.
A great place to dine this was our-first visit the food and service was second to none. Two of our table had lamb which looked lovely.
Will be back soon .
Food was amazing. Atmosphere was lovely, staff were friendly! Even doing a little surprise birthday plate for my boyfriends birthday. We will definitely be going back!
Fantastic restaurant, lots of fun, great food, excellent service and the wine recommendations were superb, particularly the Croatian with with the seafood!! A wonderful evening, thoroughly recommended
Best burger I have EVER had 10/10
Will definitely be going back next time I’m in Brighton!!!!!!
Great food and great staff! Best dining experience I’ve had visiting Brighton
Disappointed- had heard many good things about the restaurant. For the price we paid I expect much better. I feel we could've eaten our meal at a high street chain and it would've been almost as good and a third the cost. There was nothing intrinsically wrong with anything but the price has skewed my expectations, which were not met.
The steaks were lovely, unfortunately had to return the spinach full of grit had not been washed properly. Garlic mushrooms could have been more garlicky. A nice meal but for the price I’ve had better.
Great food and service above and beyond. The whole group found a meal that fit their tastes. It is a group effort and I have never been let down. At the end of the meal the graduate whose achievements we were celebrating received a desert that was amazing. Will be back the next time I travel to Brighton!
Really nice food. Not cheap but you pay for what you get. would certainly recommend.
Pleasant restaurant and friendly service. We had the Sunday roast for two meat good vegetables not so much, small portions of under cooked leeks and broccoli nice potatoes, £4 extra for a very small portion of chips. Just wish the meat and veg merited the same attention.
Fantastic. Consistently good steak. Service was really good. We felt very relaxed and well looked after by the excellent staff.
Amazing food, amazing service can not wait to return
Salmon starter - superb. Steak - superb. Spinach, ice lettuce and tomato salad sides - superb. Espresso Martinis - superb. Service - superb. Can't vouch for the rest 😀
Great food and good atmosphere but it's an expensive place to eat
Wife just released from Royal Sussex Hospital !!! Woohoo. No better way to celebrate and it was awesome.
My wife and enjoyed lunch on Tuesday at The Coal Shed. The team were welcoming, attentive and genuinely interested in our experience.
The food was excellent and the recommended wine also.
We will return.
