Had a delicious Sunday lunch!
Really loved our visit. Good food, drinks. The carrots were insanely good and the dessert was beaaautifuk!
Only criticism being that when we arrived and for the duration of our visit, we were placed very close to another couple. It wasn't very private and a little too close for covid comfort.
Lovely Sunday lunch
Been to the Coal Shed a couple of times, and loved it on both visits. Great good in a good location, plus staff who know their business.
Great food and good service
Best Sunday roast that I have had in forever! Good value and lovely staff. Thank you
Wonderful experience, thank you.
It’s our 3rd time in The Coal Shed and it’s always a pleasure.
Lovely steak and side dishes and starters. Good and quick service! I would come back
Service was impeccable even in the very difficult current climate. This was the first time I have felt like I was actually relaxed and was enjoying my meal. Other restaurants could take a leaf out of their book on how to work within the government guidelines but still provide a wonderful experience. Food was delicious.
Very good meal. Especially friendly and enthusiastic service.
Not impress. Food portion too small. French fries should be replaced with chunky chips
Thank you so much for your feedback. As we have just reopened from a very long 6 months closure due to the pandemic, every feedback is good to take and grow from it. I will pass on your thoughts to our kitchen team. Kind Regards, Gwen
one of the best roasts I've ever had out! Will be going back for sure!
We didn’t have a very good experience at all, we were a group of 3 and we all wanted the Sunday lunch but were told we could only order 2 or 4 Sunday lunches with no compromise. I decided to have a steak and my two friends had the roast dinner. The Sirloin steak was very chewy and unpleasant, when our waiter asked how the food was I told him it was chewy and not very nice, he responded “oh, ok” and walked away, spending the next 10 minutes walking past our table. After we realised no one was going to help we got his attention and asked whether he was going to do anything and he looked surprised and said “well what do you want me to do, take it off the bill?”. He then offered a replacement steak but my friends had finished their meals, he also eventually offered teas and coffees on the house. I was really surprised that we had to directly ask for anything to be done, it was really poor customer service. Id been to the restaurant last year and we had a lovely time but can’t see that I’d want to return now after a poor experience.
Great Sunday lunch. Big portion for two and very well cooked.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, wonderful to read you enjoyed everything so much. Can't wait to have you back again. Kind regards, Coalshed London Team
Everyone enjoyed their really well made meals. Delicious flavours.
no ambiance, ordered medium got medium rare, sent back to get it seared on the outside with it still blood red on the inside, no price on the special board so a surprise to be hit with a £87 bill for just the meat, complimentary chocolate on a plate with "happy anniversary" pipped on the side, it was my birthday !! plate was chipped on the side, waiter just shrugged it off,£12 for a rum and coke, £20 service charge
Will not return or recommended
The coal shed had a nice atmosphere but the steak tasted like fish. They couldn't make cocktails and was very over rated.

Absolute gem! This place took me by surprise. The food is incredible and the service and timing is that of a Michelin star restaurant. This will now be a regular spot for me!
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, wonderful to read you enjoyed everything so much. Can't wait to have you back again. Kind regards, Gwen
Attractive place with nice staff and very friendly (French) waiter. Slightly underwhelming food - ‘fat chips’ were standard McDonald’s strings, (and unusually not included in price of the stake) and the sauces arrived 10 minutes after the meat. Not difficult to get right (all pre-prepared) and at these prices they should have done.
Tasty menu and good beer with a unique wine list. Food is cooked on an open fire so the place is a little smoky, but overall a relaxed and friendly vibe.
My food was excellent. I had a sirloin steak cooked just to the medium rare degree, with chips and bearnaise sauce. All good though I think the chips should have been Chunkier. I drank a carafe of Barbera d’asti which accompanied the steak well.
I did not like my cheese platter. No thought had gone into the cheese selection.
The overall cost of £79 for one was high.
Booked without realising this was there first day opening after lockdown & were greeted with complimentary bubbles which was a nice touch. All staff very friendly and attentive & obviously happy to be back to work which is nice to see. Great food, my friend had the veggie main which she said was delicious and the fillet was on point too.
Highly recommend the Mac n cheese too
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, wonderful to read you enjoyed everything so much and very glad the vegetarian dish was such a success with your friend. Can't wait to have you back again Harry. Kind regards, Gwen
Amazing place to dine. Well worth the wait and I will definitely be heading back there. Thanks, Coal Shed Team!
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and for your support in waiting for us to reopen our doors. I'm very glad we were as good as your expectations were and look forward to have you back soon Laura. Kind regards, Gwen
Great food and wine
Good food and drinks and a great location by the Tower Bridge. However, service was slow at times and the staff were not attentive.
Extremely slow service, had to ask for another glass of wine from our bottle because they took it away, they had run out of roasts which is what we went for, waited ages to order and waited ages for our food even though the restaurant only had a few people in it
Great location by Tower Bridge on the South Bank. Great, attentive service without being annoying. Super food in a great atmosphere and at a good price. Would highly recommend.
This was a very lovely Sunday roast. We were an odd number and yet the kitchen kindly allowed us to order a sharing roast for two and for three (they're normally sold as for two). At £22.5 per head this is probably their best value for money menu option on a Sunday. The roast beef was undeniably excellent, and the potatoes roasted in beef fat were utterly delicious. Service was friendly with a sense of humour. Location is pretty cool as well. Near lots of other impressive restaurants and bars.
Just perfect service from start to finish and once again excellent food . Thank You
Was extremely smokey when Arriving at restaurant, think the ventilation in the kitchen may have been faulty or fat or something had been burnt?
Noise level was immense to the point that we could not hear the server talking, or with their review on the wines etc... and was so difficult to carry out general conversation. children shouting did not help!
It simply wasn't the normal relaxed dining experienced as in past, at this venue.
We thought our steaks were beautiful, cooked exactly to our liking. Between us we had broccoli, greens and chips which were perfect, I’m going to cook chilli and garlic respectively with the veg at home! The service was very good with the waiter realising that my drink wasn’t as I’d hoped and promptly getting it fixed for me! We’ll definitely recommend and will visit when we are next able.
Poor service, food alright but nothing extraordinary
Food was ok but felt it was massively over priced for what it was. My partners starter wasnt very hot. Had to purchase all the sides to go with our steaks, they dont come with anything. Have had better at our local miller and Carter. For over £100.00 for a starter and main for 2 I wouldn't return.
The service was very good, the food was just ok and the wine nothing to write about. All in all the evening was just ok.
What a wonderful find. The menu is varied and interesting and the food was truly exquisitely delicious. Staff were attentive, friendly, welcoming and thoughtful. It is situated very near the Thames and is ideal for a pre or post eveining meal if one is going to the Bridge Theatre.
One of my Local eateries I have enjoyed great Sunday service however Mid-week lunch service - went quite differently.
Ordered medium rare traditional hamburger- it arrived med-well done. Despite lunch menu stating burger comes with shoe string fries - burger arrives with undercooked VERY extra thick cut fries.
When asking the waiter what happened to shoe string fries - waiter response was -shrugged shoulders and it’s chef’s choice?
Asked for individual ketchup so that my guest had their own little pot was met with a sigh.
Inconsistent quality food - disregarding cooking preference (Med-rare) and waiter attitude combined with food arriving not as stated in menu meant that I regretted choosing Coal Shed for this business lunch.
Can only assume it was an off day ! I surly hope so as weekends are always excellent.
This was our second visit for Sunday lunch en famille and we were not disappointed. The service was attentive, the food excellent and the ambiance excellent.
An amazing meal, loved every bit of it and the steaks were amazing melt in your mouth
