The Coal Shed London

Great evening with great food and wine. The service was spot on and the staff were warm and attentive. I will definitely recommend it and will visit here again.
Average pub-style food.
Friday night date with husband after busy week at work. I would go back with friends but I wouldn’t say this is a ‘special occasions’ place
The food was disappointing as the fish was very over cooked and the potatoes were luke warm. We did mention this to the staff.
Great restaurant amazing food and fantastic service - first time there it came highly recommended - I will definitely return
Very enjoyable supper - great location and a lovely buzz. We had an early table but it seemed that later diners were left waiting - I’d book again for an early table.
Beautiful location nice staff and lovely feel about the place
My steak was delicious and not to long to wait for each course.
Lovely evening x
Excellent express lunch bowl with smoked aubergine. Really good value, healthy and very filling.
Excellent food and service absolutely enjoyed our meal. Value for money exceeded all my expectations
Unreal sharing roast! Flavours were amazing, meat was perfection, we loved it!
We had an excellent pre theatre supper with friendly and efficient service which made a great start to the evening
An amazing meal with friends. Superb food, and wonderful service. Would recommend it to anyone.
Since two of us were coming here after work and then had theatre tix nearby, we needed somewhere to eat that was quick and near the theatre. Luckily, we took advantage of the pre-theatre two course menu and were done in about 45 minutes. The menu is really a lovely value. The fish and gammon steak were cooked nicely. My only complaint is that my starter of roasted cauliflower was just a bit too big of portion. I would dine here again when in the area.
Very good service throughout our visit. The portions are very generous and perhaps we didn’t need the extra sides of chips and hispi cabbage, but both were very good. We shared some bread and short rib croquettes to start and followed with cod and pork cutlet mains, both cooked on the wood fire. Every thing was very good. Too full to try dessert! Very long wine list with prices a bit on the high side with little choice much below £40 a bottle, but that seems to be the norm in London restaurants now. The Italian white we had was perfect. Great location near The Bridge theatre and I noticed that they have a very reasonable 3 course pre theatre menu at £24, about the price of some mains on the a la carte menu. Recommended.
We were recommended the restaurant by some friends and we were not disappointed. Attentive staff throughout and the most amazing food.
Extremely disappointed . Booked back in may to surprise my boys for New Year’s Eve and there was no fillet steak left which was what we all wanted and then we had to wait well over an hour for our food after I had to tell a waiter, god only knows when we would have eaten if I hadn’t. Our food arrived around10.40pm to which we had waited far to long and had lost our appetite. This was supposed to be an amazing experience for my family as I booked it as it was on Masterchef which we all love. All in all, not a good experience.
Visited 3 times - never any oysters. May as well take off the menu. Had the sea bass - wasn’t fresh & it smelled. Couldn’t eat all of it. Won’t be going back again
The food was not worth the money at all - needed way more seasoning and flavour. The pork was dry and over cooked. Lovely ambience, great drinks, and a great location, however.
The ordered peppercorn sauce arrived half way through the meal. We had to remind the waiter that it was missing and he came back from the kitchen and told us that the sauce had run out but we would not be charged for it. We complained and then he bought 3 cold sauces and said we would not be charged for them. We complained and then the peppercorn sauce arrived. The rating is low because our meal was ruined by very poor service.
We went on Christmas Eve and the food was excellent. However we were rather rushed as the staff wanted to leave and go home for the night. Understandably given it was Christmas Eve nevertheless if they had accepted the dinner booking they should provide us with enough time to thoroughly enjoy our meal.
The food was good but did not arrive for 45 mins after we ordered it & the staff knew we were booked for the matinee at the Bridge Theatre. Not good enough.
Lovely restaurant but v loud (maybe as just before xmas?). Food good but roast potatoes were undercooked and not crisp. We requested extra gravy twice as the jugs provided are very small - it did not arrive and we were charged for it on the bill. We did not quibble for £1 as it was otherwise a good lunch but maybe use bigger gravy jugs? Thanks
Delish food and great cocktails! Nice atmosphere too.
Brilliant food and brilliant staff. Will definitely be coming back.
Superb food, the staff were so friendly & very attentive, great atmosphere! Loved it!
This was my second visit to the Coalshed and far more disappointing than my first. The service was quite slow and the menu quite misleading. I expect that when I order scallops that I would at least receive a minimum of least 3 and not be charged £8 for ONE scallop.
It said on their website they had a pre-theatre deal. When we got there (at 5.45 pm) they told us it didn’t operate on Fridays. It is unnecessarily expensive. 2 of the starters were off menu so we didn’t have a starter. My main was good but my friend’s was pretty awful for £24. I only went there because were going to the theatre. I was highly disappointed.
Excellent food and ambience. Will venture back
Lovely place and lovely food, great views! However when first entering we was not greeted but ignored. Upon the 3rd member of staff that we flagged down she was able to assist and sit us after around 5mins. In total we waited around 12 mins to be seated. Not a huge deal, but it’s the little things that matter.
Excellent service from all staff, amazing food, will definitely be back! Thank you
Great food, service and wine, we had a great time. The meat selection was good too.
Waiter had little experience, no knowledge of allergies and forgot to follow up with dessert.
Great food, good service, what’s not to like
Wonderful food; wonderful service! The Sunday roast is probably one of the best I've had.
What a lovely surprise, we booked the Coal Shed quite late and to be honest we chose it because it was available and in the right location but, it was great!
The staff were super friendly and very obliging, their service was just the right pace. The food was excellent - I had anticipated it to be rather standard pub grub but it was much more interesting than that. Being a fairly ardent carnivore I was really surprised how much I enjoyed their vegetarian starters, especially the salt baked celeriac and the Cauliflower with raisins, very good. Everyone in my party really enjoyed it.
I’m afraid we had a poor experience at the Coal Shed recently. I have used it a lot for work lunches and know the quality varies but for the price this wasn’t good enough. Food and service were both lacklustre and we won’t rush back which is a shame as we have always enjoyed the Brighton restaurant - it feels as if London hasn’t quite clicked yet.
Great location with fantastic food. Would 100% recommend 😍
Very loud and noisy but tasty food and good drinks selection! Good gluten-free options and a lovely complimentary birthday dessert. Will be returning but not with kids!
Nice enough place, very average food. Tasteless steak
A little hard to find but well worth it. All in all a great evening and food was pleasantly surprising. Will be back!
