Award winning beer beaten by the pie! It looked great when it arrived and the filling was top quality and beautifully seasoned: truly memorable. The homemade seafood parpadelle was creative and delightful, most restaurants would cut back on the expensive fish ingredients and bulk up on pasta the but not here, no wonder the place was full. The waitress was lovely, and the ambience upstairs was spot on. I have already recommended The Cobbles to friends.
Had dinner here on Saturday, and the food is amazing. Great portions and very tasty. Service staff go our of their at to ensure everything is to your liking. I have no hesitation in recommending The Cobbles. Well done.
As an ex pat Borderer who also lived in Kelso several years ago, I was already aware of the Cobbles and it’s longstanding high standards and delicious food, but since I left the area and moved to Yorkshire it has changed LOADS...and all for the better!
The lager my fiancé was drinking was brewed here and he loved it!
I was hugely impressed with the style of the interesting menu and the choices we all made were very well received as everything was perfect.
My choice of their healthy and tasty spin on haddock and chips with an pinhead oat crust was amazing and fabulous!
I can’t recommend the Cobbles any higher for ambiance and quality of the menu and food served.
We will return!
We were recommended The Cobbles by our bnb hosts while we were visiting the area. We were not disappointed. Starters and mains were beautifully cooked and presented, so delicious and filling. Service was excellent and friendly and the decor and ambience relaxed.
Always excellent food and service. Lovely place to sit.
I took mum and dad here for mothers day dinner, the service was great, the staff were friendly and helpful. Im a vegan and there were a couple of nice options on the menu to accommodate this. My dad had a pint of their Tempest brewery ale and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everyone enjoyed the food and the prices were very reasonable. I'll definitely come here again.
Great food, lovely staff, have eaten here many times and will do again!
Cracking food, staff friendly, service prompt. Noise from the bar slightly intrusive but fun to listen the bad singing.
Excellent service, well cooked and presented food, good value for the money
We were visiting Kelso for only a couple of days and booked in here for the first night's dinner, but we enjoyed it so much we went back the following night too!!
Really friendly staff, great food and good selection of wines and beers!
You'll definitely need to book if you're going at the weekend but it's absolutely worth planning in advance!
First class food, first class service. Our first visit and will definitely come again
Second time in as many weeks, superb value for money. Great staff and a chef that certainly kniws how to cook fish - keep them!,
Good place to catch up with friends .
Menu has good choice and good choice of beers also .
Staff always friendly and helpful.
Have not been for a while: it has always been good in my eyes, but has improved since my last visit. Well done to all; Michaels's knowledge of the beers and food on offer was exceptional.
We were having a girlfriends' lunch, six of us. We were made VERY welcome on arrival, with nothing being too much bother.
The food was VERY good, with a wide range of menus. Wine was discussed and a delicious wine selected. My starter was unusual, a delicious mix of melon with dukkah and sorbet. Thought had been put into the menu, with some different flavours being put together - successfully!
Our changing from one menu to another was no trouble, and asking for changes to be made within a dish ( I've. Less of an ingredient) was no problem!
There was rushing of us at the end of our meal either, with the waiter being as charming at the end of our lunch as at the beginning.
As per the recommendation we received to have our meal here, the beer, staff and food were excellent.
The special of steak, with oyster, asparagus and fries was outstanding.
Will be back here next time we have a break in Kelso.
We booked lunch to celebrate a special birthday. Our starters were lovely but we were disappointed with our mains. We both opted for roast beef and it was swimming in grease. I had to pour the grease out of my Yorkshire pudding and it didn't mix with the gravy so looked awful on the plate. The roast potatoes were also very greasy, I didn't eat them as it was too off putting. The service was great, and there was a nice atmosphere, although maybe a tad chilly at our table. We couldn't fault the kids menu, and the fun activities to keep our child entertained.
Fabulous evening, good choice of food on the menu ,prices very reasonable. Lovely staff
We recently moved up to the Borders and have been to the Cobbles several times. The food and the excellent beer from Tempest brewery make it THE place to dine in the Borders.
Visited Cobbles for lunch with friends. We chose items from the Xmas Lunch menu and the food was excellent. The initial welcome was friendly and this continued with the service.
The courses were served with reasonable intervals between them to give the feeling of not being rushed.
The only gripe was that it was £1.90 for one scoop of ice cream but £3.95 for two scoops - where did the extra 5p come from? When this was pointed out the the waitress she said she hadn’t noticed this but we were still charged £3.95. This minor issue didn’t spoil what was a very enjoyable lunch and I would recommend people to visit the Cobbles.
The best service I've had for quite some time. The lady serving us was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.
I had written on the booking that i was vegan and on arrival no reminder was necessary. I was told about several dishes that could be adapted for me - for the borders this is unheard of, I was really impressed!
Food was great and prices very reasonable, i'll definitely be back when I am next in kelso.
Lovely, attentive staff. Good value food prepared with care. All fresh and very tasty. Beware: generous portions!!
Went to celebrate dads 70th. Staff very attentive, lovely friendly atmosphere but still special too. Food was wonderful, haggis bon bon’s recommended as well as the wonderful haddock and my son’s steak. Will certainly go back when we visit!
Love this restaurant always a hit when we visit Kelso
