Disappointed as I didn't expect 'fast food'. Within just a couple of minutes of ordering and before the drinks were served, our food came. The dishes weren't hot enough which spoilt the flavours. Service was friendly and upbeat.

I love this place, the food is amazing. It's a relaxed, fun environment with great service. My only negative is the temperature; it can get very warm when it's busy.

We had the table booked for 19.45 on saturday. Half the food on the menu wasnt available. Was left with not much choice. We were also told that a traditional rice dish 'red rice' was not actually what it said on the menu and that it was just plain rice that they had coloured. The service was fine although we had to wait half an hour for our drinks.. could understand this if we had cocktails but it was beer. Really disappointing and would not recommend.

Food is incredible but service is terrible. Staff are lovely but we waited 45 mins (table of 6) to be asked what drinks we wanted. They took ages to come and the. We waited longer for our food order to be taken. The table is only booked for a 2 hour slot, so when we finically got our food and finished we were hurried to leave...but then they took ages bringing the bill (we had to go and ask for it), then nobody came to take out payment. This isn’t a one off, this has been my experience several time and I have heard the same from others. Other than speed of service though, great food and atmosphere!

Great food. Great atmosphere. Would be good to have more salads on the menu. Seats could be comfortable. Took my Dad for a meal here and he's usually difficult to impress but he was really pleased with the food. But not the chairs!

FIrst time at The Coconut Tree, the staff were very welcoming and friendly and recommended about 6 options between the two of us. We selected the egg hopper, chicken kotthu, spicy mushrooms and the cheesy colombo and despite having only 4 options it was still very filling!
The vibe and atmosphere was very chilled and relaxed. The prices are reasonable but we thought the prices of the cocktails were a little dear although the pina colada in the pineapple was excellent! Overall, we will recommend and will definitely visit again!

Had a fantastic evening at The Coconut Tree. We were visiting our son, who is studying in Bristol, with our 16 years old daughter and her friend and wanted somewhere with great food and a good lively vibe. We really were not disappointed and was the highlight of our trip to Bristol. I never actually write reviews (although I always read them!) but really felt I wanted to mention the staff. They were all so incredibly friendly and helpful and it just felt very genuine - could have happily stayed chatting to them for hours - thank you for a great evening and we will definitely return!

A fun and lively spot with high quality good value food and very helpful and friendly staff. In particular we so enjoyed chatting to three staff members who were really good fun and chatted to us like we were old friends as opposed to new customers. So thanks to Ella, Gabs and Kate, hope to see you again soon.

Great food and good prices let down by very poor service. The drinks especially are reasonably priced and very tasty! The foot was great and recommendations really on point. The service was so poor though. They were not busy in he slightest, overstaffed if anything and still did not once ask if we wanted another round of drinks, forgot about us twice when we asked to take some food home, then forgot twice when we asked for the bill and then forgot about us whilst we wanted to pay. Really shame the service was so poor because the food was great.

Good service very authentic Sri Lankan food. Shame some of the curries were not available on our visit. It was a lunchtime and wasn’t busy. Loved the egg hoppers, reminded me of the last time I ate hoppers in Sri Lanka. Was hoping to have chicken curry with it but they were still cooking it so not available.

Far and away the best restaurant in Bristol. The food is excellent, and not as expensive as tapas type options often are.

Lot's of potential, but still disappointing. Menu looks enticing, however the dishes lacked spice and seasoning. The music at the venue was way too loud, and you had to scream to be able to talk to someone during dinner. The staff were extremely friendly.

A fun environment with very friendly and helpful staff and fast service. But of the 6 dishes we ordered, to be honest, we would only order 3 of them again (eg loved the 'hopper and the fried cuttlefish'!). But worth a try and maybe the menu will develop.

So where do I start. We arrived at the restaurant and it was a good start, the waitress was nice. We ordered our drinks at 7:45 and 5 minutes later then ordered our food which arrived within 10 minutes which just tells you nothing was cooked fresh. The whole point is it’s street food, quick food but not warm and not made when ordered. Food was the most bland food, I’m Indian, so coming to a south INDIAN restaurant we were excited for flavour. I’ve never had to ask for salt before in a restaurant, the most basic of seasoning was needed. Oh by the way, we still hadn’t received our drinks even though we had asked twice about them. It was now 8:30, still no drinks and we were done.

I’d never come back here nor would I ever recommend this place to anyone. If anything I’d tell people to avoid.

It’s perfect for white people, who lack taste buds and think it’ll be amazing. If that’s who they’re catering for then bravo! You achieved what you wanted to do.

We are a small group of Sri Lankan friends and family living in Bristol & Cheltenham, we’re one big family. We are cooking authentic family & street food recipes from back home (watched over by Granny Gerti 82 who comes regularly to visit our kitchens). Our head chefs are all Sri Lankan born and owners of the business so Sri Lankan street food is our anchor. We prepare and cook fresh daily. Sorry it didn't hit the spot for you. Best TCT

Food was good. Service wasn't. We had to keep chasing up or orders. About 5 or 6 dishes never arrived, and the food came out before the drinks (which they had forgotten about).

Absolutely superb! Fantastic service from the start - attentive without being over the top and annoying. Staff very knowledgeable about all the dishes and the drinks and able to make recommendations.
Food was amazing! I’m going to be dreaming about the fried cheese for months and need to go back soon for another fix. Between the two of us we’re vege and Coeliac but we’re able to find plenty of delicious dishes to share without even trying them all!
Drinks were great, though cocktails a little pricey as cocktails tend to be. Some good offers on though 2 for £10 or £12 so it didn’t have to break the bank.
After our meal (which was at 5 as that was the latest I could book a proper table - now I know the layout I’d be happy with a high table) we stayed for a couple of drinks and the atmosphere went from casual to something a bit more buzzing, which was great.
Can’t wait to go back!!

Absolutely fantastic, they had a big party of 50 in, so it was very loud and we waited quite some time for drinks. But considering this, the ambiance, quality of food and service were still impeccable. Our party of five paid £20 per head and there was more delicious food than we could manage. Drinks are reasonably priced with an excellent cocktail list. And our favourite dish, the cuttlefish is every bit as good as it is in the original restaurant in Cheltenham. 11/10!
