Amazing experience - highly recommended. Delicious food, brilliant staff and a really fun atmosphere.
Good service very authentic Sri Lankan food. Shame some of the curries were not available on our visit. It was a lunchtime and wasn’t busy. Loved the egg hoppers, reminded me of the last time I ate hoppers in Sri Lanka. Was hoping to have chicken curry with it but they were still cooking it so not available.
Really interesting and tasty dishes. Great value for money and lovely staff. Busy and noisy but great atmosphere
Far and away the best restaurant in Bristol. The food is excellent, and not as expensive as tapas type options often are.
A lovely restaurant serving tapas style Sri Lankan food. Great service and fantastic food with a lively atmosphere.
Went above and beyond and brought out a bottle of prosecco on my birthday
Lot's of potential, but still disappointing. Menu looks enticing, however the dishes lacked spice and seasoning. The music at the venue was way too loud, and you had to scream to be able to talk to someone during dinner. The staff were extremely friendly.
We had a great dinner at The Coconut Tree! The general atmosphere was fun, the food was great and our waitress, Ella, was incredible! She was very helpful when we asked for recommendations, was super friendly and energetic throughout the evening, and just made the experience that much better.
Great food and a really fun place to spend a few hours
Fantastic food and great staff. One of the best meals we have had and will definitely return!
A fun environment with very friendly and helpful staff and fast service. But of the 6 dishes we ordered, to be honest, we would only order 3 of them again (eg loved the 'hopper and the fried cuttlefish'!). But worth a try and maybe the menu will develop.
Lovely night, food was fab.... Recommend the Tuna Clay Pot :)
Food was nice but the service was slow and inattentive.
So where do I start. We arrived at the restaurant and it was a good start, the waitress was nice. We ordered our drinks at 7:45 and 5 minutes later then ordered our food which arrived within 10 minutes which just tells you nothing was cooked fresh. The whole point is it’s street food, quick food but not warm and not made when ordered. Food was the most bland food, I’m Indian, so coming to a south INDIAN restaurant we were excited for flavour. I’ve never had to ask for salt before in a restaurant, the most basic of seasoning was needed. Oh by the way, we still hadn’t received our drinks even though we had asked twice about them. It was now 8:30, still no drinks and we were done.
I’d never come back here nor would I ever recommend this place to anyone. If anything I’d tell people to avoid.
It’s perfect for white people, who lack taste buds and think it’ll be amazing. If that’s who they’re catering for then bravo! You achieved what you wanted to do.
We are a small group of Sri Lankan friends and family living in Bristol & Cheltenham, we’re one big family. We are cooking authentic family & street food recipes from back home (watched over by Granny Gerti 82 who comes regularly to visit our kitchens). Our head chefs are all Sri Lankan born and owners of the business so Sri Lankan street food is our anchor. We prepare and cook fresh daily. Sorry it didn't hit the spot for you. Best TCT
Food was good. Service wasn't. We had to keep chasing up or orders. About 5 or 6 dishes never arrived, and the food came out before the drinks (which they had forgotten about).
Absolutely superb! Fantastic service from the start - attentive without being over the top and annoying. Staff very knowledgeable about all the dishes and the drinks and able to make recommendations.
Food was amazing! I’m going to be dreaming about the fried cheese for months and need to go back soon for another fix. Between the two of us we’re vege and Coeliac but we’re able to find plenty of delicious dishes to share without even trying them all!
Drinks were great, though cocktails a little pricey as cocktails tend to be. Some good offers on though 2 for £10 or £12 so it didn’t have to break the bank.
After our meal (which was at 5 as that was the latest I could book a proper table - now I know the layout I’d be happy with a high table) we stayed for a couple of drinks and the atmosphere went from casual to something a bit more buzzing, which was great.
Can’t wait to go back!!
Amazing cocktails and tapas style food, fantastic service and great atmosphere! Highly recommend this place.
Superb service. Great atmosphere. Wonderful food and very reasonable price.
A great night out. Cocktails are amazing and the “cannot decide” menu was great 👍
Great food and service and buzzing atmosphere would go again
Scrumptious food as always. Excellent value for money and we came away very happy.
Absolutely fantastic, they had a big party of 50 in, so it was very loud and we waited quite some time for drinks. But considering this, the ambiance, quality of food and service were still impeccable. Our party of five paid £20 per head and there was more delicious food than we could manage. Drinks are reasonably priced with an excellent cocktail list. And our favourite dish, the cuttlefish is every bit as good as it is in the original restaurant in Cheltenham. 11/10!
Food is absolutely great! Really good prive and a nice atmosphere!
Poor quality food, some of the dishes felt like they were leftovers reheated for the evening.
First ever visit. Would definitely visit again. Food was great and the staff were very helpful, explains the menu and how things worked
Tasty tapas style spicy food with great service.
Friendly service and delicious food, relaxed atmosphere. Food really good value.
The food is so fresh and tasty I'm a little glad the restaurant is far away from me or I'd be there all the time. Well worth a visit, service is great and it's kind to the purse strings as well.
Really great food, good service. Would definitely come back.
Excellent meal but we did have to wait an hour for our food, which when it arrived was not what we ordered, despite having been repeatedly assured it was imminent. That being said, the manager comped our meal which was appreciated. We will return, perhaps not for dinner on a Saturday night though!
A little bit different the service was excellent. Very tasty food at a reasonable price
Truly amazing food with such a vibrant, relaxed and friendly atmosphere- the second you walk in you are greeted with the kind of aromas that are worthy of the title “Sri Lanka street food” and the staff are incredibly friendly. First time there but definitely won’t be our last- you MUST go!
Great authentic Sri Lankan/South Indian food good service (thanks Zak) excellent value
Great food, quick and friendly service and a fun relaxed atmosphere.
Staff were great and helped steer us through the menu as this was our first visit. Food was great (especially the black pork and the cuttlefish!), plenty of drinks options available and we’ll definitely be going back!
authentic, warm, spicy sri-lankan cuisine experience with friends was sold and was expected. Disappointment on every count. Burnt chicken curries, bland goat/black pig, disappointing squid. the highlight was a fried cuttlefish. the highly anticipated Hoppers were too thick and tasteless and the accompanying coconut sambol - a true Sri Lankan would not claim...and where was the Seeni sambol. the staff didn't even know what that was, when I asked where it was? I would not recommend my friends. Maybe Saturday night the chefs were off? I hope so, as Sri Lankan food is magnificent and this was so far off the mark. sorry to even write this review.
Food was burnt, roti was rock hard, seats were seriously uncomfortable. Interior decor ? What is that about !
Great food, great staff. Very enjoyable evening. Lots of choice for vegetarians.
Really lovely staff, amazing food and great value for money. Will definitely be coming back and have already recommended you to several friends :)
The food was great however we were put on a small table and our server forgot about us after we had our food. However a man names Jack was another server who was lovely and took puddings and wine off the bill as he noticed the poor service we had recieved.
