Everyone is welcome to the table.
Fabulous veggie food in a great restaurant!
Will definitely visit again.
Calum the waiter was very attentive.
The food was amazing as ever. At times it was quite loud to hear others on your table but overall we had a great time.
Fantastic food and superb service from T. This was our first visit to The Coconut Tree and we will most definitely return.
T, our waiter was absolutely amazing. Great food, amazing atmosphere. Just a great place in Bristol!
Great food, reminiscent of our recent trip to Sri Lanka. Good service and great cocktails too.
Tasty food and good choice of dishes. Very reasonably priced.
We had a lovely meal here, it was our first visit and Ben was absolutely fantastic at helping us out with navigating the menu and suggestions on what to order. His recommendations were great, we loved the Dahl and Roti’s together and the Cheesy Colombo was fab. We got the £20 taster option and what originally looked like small portions when they came really did go a long way and the two of us were stuffed by the end with plenty more to spare! Thank you, we will definitely return.
Firstly, very knowledgeable waitress (Natty) and liked that she made recommendations from the menu.
The food was also delicious. Good atmosphere, reasonably priced and good value.
Would go again and recommend.
Great food, service and choice of dishes. Great place for groups on Gloucs Road area.
Great food and really helpful friendly staff 😁. Fast service and lovely atmosphere.
As always the food is fabulous which is why we always go back! Service could be improved buy any issues are always recognised and resolved to be fair. We specifically booked a standard table as I am very short and hate clambering up and down on the high top stools but when we got there we had been given a high top. When I asked we were moved though.
A delicious range of spicy food including a lot of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Their desserts were very good too.
We went for Father's day and booked on line and noted that there was a special offer of 3 free dishes. We enquired when we ordered that this offer still applied which was confirmed and proceeded to order 12 dishes. My main issue was that the food kept coming out at different stages, we had to ask on 3 occasions to check, and 1 dish never turned up at all. On receipt of the bill we had been charged for the missing dish and never received the discount for Father's day. This was rectified to our satisfaction. It would have been nice to have had the same waiter/waitress throughout instead of several of them serving us at different times. The food was fantastic.
although the food was amazing, it took quite a long time for the food to arrive since ordering. It wasn't easy to manage hungry restless kids in a tightly packed place.
If I were to return to this place, it would be only for the quality and taste of the food.
Recommend booking a table (people were queuing when we left). So glad we went early evening, as it got very noisy. We really love the food, and the staff were great. Only one toilet was working when we were there.
This was our third visit to the coconut tree but came with some friends who hadn’t been before. A party of 6 and we all had cocktails and a range of food chosen. Everything was delicious - love that they add new items to the menu frequently but leave the popular dishes. Highly recommend the cheese! Noise levels were very high and it was a little hard to hear each other at some points. Service was good but we did wait for quite a while to pay our bill but it was Friday night so it would be expectedly busier for the staff. Overall a great night out.
No-nonsense seating & furniture sets you up to get right on into the task of ordering from the great array of different dishes on offer. Flavoursome, distinctive, and adventurous! And a great selection of drinks to accompany. We'll DEFINITELY be back.
Had high expectations following the Jay Rayner review but sadly the food didn’t live up to them. Very very hot in the restaurant and had to shout to each other to be heard. Service and staff were excellent and I liked the fact the food came out in dribs and drabs. I loved the Hopper and Pumpkin curry but the black pork and chicken curry weren’t memorable. The prawns were served pipping hot and very tasty and my daughter and her boyfriend had an amazing amount of choice which isn’t always the case being vegan. Would come again but would recommend going for dishes that you wouldn’t ordinarily choose
The staff were very friendly and helpful while we decided our menu choices..our table was ready for us on our arrival and the venue was welcoming and pleasant to eat in.
Will definitely be going back to try more things on the menu!
Had been recommended to go to Coconut Tree by friends but unfortunately was very let down - service was poor - had our orders taken and other than that they didnt come over at all, they were also rude at times. The food was disappointing - everything tasted of turmeric. The toilets were disgusting. They were playing 90s RnB all night which didnt really seem fitting for a Sri Lankan restaurant. Definitely won't be going back.
Food was delicious, and excellent price. For 2 of us it came to under £40 and we both had 2 drink each and enough food to satisfy our very hungry appetites. Would highly recommend, we will be going back... also as an extra bonus 3 x JT tracks in a row...!
Absolutely delicious food. Great variety and flavours. Service could be better though
Really delicious food and lovely atmosphere. We ordered mostly vegan dishes, and every single one was really tasty. The best food I've had out for a very long time. The staff were l really friendly and helpful, and the restaurant itself is really lovely and we'll set out. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Beautiful meal once again, one of my favourites in Bristol!
Food was incredible, the staff were very friendly and helpful too! The 4 of us got put on a small table in the window right behind a group of 8 people so we felt slightly squashed in, plates of food were balancing on others and we’re bumping elbows when eating but that’s a minor thing to Joan about! Would 100% come back again, it was amazing!
Leia was a great hostess and delivered warm and friendly service. Very cool and tasty concept that I think overall worked well. Definitely a good group restaurant but if you are looking to eat at the same time or have different dietary restrictions where you cant share the plates it can be a bit disjointed. Overall throtoughly recommend food was tasty and service very good.
The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff were very good and friendly although the service was a little slow. They were very busy though!
No experience of Shri lankan food before - loved it! Good for vegans too. Great friendly staff, will come back.
Must try if you’re close by
Gorgeous food, great veggie choices, cool atmosphere & friendly staff
A wonderful experience, especially, but not only, for those those who love South Asian cuisine. Packaging that in tapas style is brilliant. Do try the hoppers, which are quintessentially Sri Lankan (and Keralan). And don't ignore the brilliant vegetarian offerings, especially the cashew with peas and the green beans with green chillie.
Lively atmosphere and great food. Service was good considering it was so busy and although we had to wait a tad longer than expected for a beer order ( genuinely not a problem) i only noticed later they had taken charge off bill for it being “late”! Not expected and very much appreciated. We will return very soon .
Cocktail was lovely. Venue nice and good atmosphere.
However food was a bland and lacking flavour compared to our previous experience of Sri Lankan food. The devilled chicken was basically sweet and sour.
Service was slow, we waited 40 mins for the bill/second cocktail which never arrived only to be charged for it still and see it waiting on the end of the bar when we left.
The food was nice but the service was very slow and we waited over an hour for food. The restaurant wasn’t full either.
Staff were very friendly and when we did get our food the dishes were nice
Quick friendly service and the food was exceptional. The staff were really attentive and even surprised me with a complementary cocktail as it was my hen do. We had a huge spread so were really surprised at reasonable the bill was. I will definitely be going again. Drunken Sri lanken is a must!
Service was incredibly slow, even though there were only 6 of us it took a long time to arrive, and even then one person's order arrived another 15-20 mins later so they had to wait while we all ate. Similar challenge in asking for and paying the bill. We had to keep getting the attention of staff, who otherwise ignored us. Staff were, however, all lovely; likely just too busy.
The food is amazing and great value and friendly staff.
Me and the family loved the food, nothing was left. Staff were very friendly , Ebony in particular.
As a vegan there was loads to choose from great menu!
And super good value too
Very tasty food, plenty of options - especially for vegans/veggies. All the main dishes seem to come with a fair level of spice so watch out. Lovely feel to the place, seems very niche but is actually very appealing to everyone.
Such a warm & friendly welcome. Attentive staff, quick service. Amazing cocktails & knowledge of the menu was fabulous. Will highly recommend & certainly return again as this was our first experience here.
