Gastro Pub
Nestled in the Cardiff suburb of Pontcanna, The Conway is a traditional pub for today which has been warmly welcomed into the local community.

The Conway has a traditional bar area, a living room style dining room and cosy fireside sofas. It’s a small venue with social distancing challenges, but we’re making it work. There is a small outdoor seating area at the front, great for outside urban eating and drinking and anticipated to be even more popular during current restrictions. The blackboard menu offers classic pub favourites, daily seasonal specials, mixed in with our chef’s own quirky dishes, whilst the bar serves a selection of guest ales and a great wine list that is available by the bottle and glass.

The Conway will open at 4pm Monday to Friday whilst we adjust to new operational procedures. We’re open all weekend as usual, of course.

Some time since we have visited the Conway and what a pleasure. Despite COVID a welcoming atmosphere and food was excellent. Cannot wait for lockdown in Wales to be lifted once again!

The Conway did their utmost to make us feel welcome despite all Covid difficulties. Thanks to the staff.
They made a dish which was not on the menu for my husband who is gluten free. Although it was a bit on the expensive side in comparison with other dishes on offer, it was delicious.
They definitely need support going into this next period with tighter restrictions. We were told that they were intending to remain open.

As good as ever. The staff seem a lot more cheerful than pre-lockdown, and the whole atmosphere much more welcoming. Good anti-COVID measures too. Didn't eat-we were there for the regular Sunday quiz, which, thanks to Quiz Maestro Mr Steve DaSilva, was as much fun as ever- but it was nice to have a few proper beers in good company.

We went for the Sunday roast and my brisket was amazingly tasty apart from generous portion.
We went with a baby and staff were nice, professional and kind. They even have us plastic cutlery for sharing our food with the baby!

Definite feeling from the whole table was that portion sizes were much less generous than previously, especially starters abs cheeseboard. And 4 crackers from a Jacobs selection box... a bit low rent. Very tasty in general though and friendly staff.

Overall, an enjoyable lunch ie good service, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and Coronavirus restrictions well managed. Just let down a bit by the food really. The pulled pork sandwich filling was all sauce, little meat and the baguette was over-toasted. In fairness though, the staff apologised and knocked some money off the bill for us.
Small point, hand sanitisers should be in the pub itself when you return from the toilets, not actually in the toilets themselves. As it is now, sanitising your hands in the loo is pointless, because you then have to handle the toilet doors and another door, to return to your table!

Reasonable food- unusual serving dish for the starters, awkward to get at the food, and our steaks came out sliced!
Good service, all Covid compliant 👍

lovely meal the last night before wales went into another lockdown.
All the COVID guidelines fully followed here and felt safe.
Food was delicious and excellent value for money!
Cocktails were same standard as that of a cocktail bar! 241 on the Thursday which was amazing.
Look forward to returning when everything re opens!

Lovely meal on Wednesday, first 'dining out' experience since lock down in March. Bit quiet, missed the old 'buzz' of chatter and laughter. Saw good friends across the the room who were celebrating their wedding anniversary - shame we could only wave, call out congratulations, but could't catch up like friends usually would.
