Seemed very chaotic, waited 10 mins to be seated, then over an hour for our starters. Staff apologetic but I think they had taken in too many customers so they weren’t happy either. Most dishes were good but the squid and mussels very disappointing. Not a great evening.
We went to the copper clam for a family birthday, it was nice to find somewhere that was quiet around the busy beach of Brighton, the staff were lovely but the service was a let down with timings, forgetting items we ordered etc. The starters and mains were great! Pudding and coffee wasn’t.
This place is a hidden gem, the food was top quality and it was such an intimate setting me and my partner loved the whole experience
Enjoyed it very much , had a seat by thewindow overlooking the sea, quick and attentive service
The food was delicious and the service fantastic. I would certainly recommend this place.
The food was excellent and pretty good value. The service was a little 'scatty' but the staff were very nice. Very odd that they didn't offer drinks when we were sat. We didn't get drinks until part way through our starters. Where we sat it was quite cramped and in a corner.
I was a bit disappointed this time with our visit to the Copper Clam, one of our starters was cold and one of the main courses was very poor value for money, the portion was very small and the seafood was very sparse , the staff were very nice but unfortunately the price was very expensive, London restaurant prices but unfortunately not London standard of food, not sure I would visit again which is a shame as the first time we came it was very nice
Great atmosphere, food was nice, unfortunately the service was quite slow and the portion sizes were a bit small. 7/10
I would say I hope that The Copper Clam were just having a bad day. It took 30 minutes to get drinks and 90 mins for mains. The waitress repeatedly dropped things... 3 times, 2 separate glasses and left each on the floor for ages least 10mins. I ordered the seafood platter and asked for them to deshell the lingistines, which came back to me with the waitress saying "this is all the chef could do... not much there at all" I was offered 3x oysters instead but only brought one... large amount of money for hardly anything. I was starving when I left with a sour taste in my mouth. It was for my parents 10th wedding anniversary and we were all very disappointed.
Good food, lovely setting and nice friendly service....but they didn't get our order right and we had to wait ages for one of the mains and some of the sides. Maybe just bad luck.
Very nice Restaurant with good service and good food. Disapointment how many items on the menu were not available.
Beautiful setting and views.
Food was below average, cold upon arrival. Bland and tasteless.
Dust was falling onto our table from the unvarnished/crumbling brickwork above.
Birthday dinner - several dishes not available from menu but good friendly service
Had heard good things about the Copper Clam but think we went on an off day! The staff seemed extremely stressed (apart from our waiter David) The food was luke warm served on cold plates with our starters arriving at different times and one was the wrong and had to be sent back. These things were corrected and we were offered a discount off the bill and an apology but it did spoil the evening.
Potential to be great, think we were just there on a bad day, large group next to us so was very loud and steak wasn’t great, but they happily exchanged this and the rest was great.
Will definitely go again!
Excellent quality food but rather expensive for the amount. Friendly owner but other staff a little in your face and tables too cramped together.
Really good fish restaurant with some vegetarian options. This is our second visit to the restaurant and the food is good, especially the speciality fish dishes. vegetarian options are okay though my stilton, walnut and pear flan starter was something I could make better.
The restaurant is in the arches on the beach front so great location but tables for two are very close together. Probably better to go in a group of four or more to get some sense of closeness with your friends, rather than strangers! That said the noise level is fine enough to have proper conversation.
Lovely , would highly recommend
Little care given to food, service or overall experience.
We were really disappointed with our meal at the Copper Clam, which was a shame as we were looking forward to it.
They had run out of every single thing on the menu we initially wanted to order, and it was not a late booking and on a Saturday night, so we would have thought they would have been more in stock. They even ran out of the wine!
There was no apology for this, and our meal became a bit of a joke.
The food, when we were able to find something available, was underwhelming.
I would not recommend coming here due to this poor experience.
Good food and great service
Fab lovely staff, wicked seafood and all-round lovely atmosphere
We were in Brighton for one day only and took our friends out for dinner. 4 of us absolutely enjoyed it! Excellent service and each dish was perfect too. We’ll be back for sure next time we are in Brighton and happy to recommend.
We had a very nice valentine's meal. The food was good and the service was very welcoming and polite. The valentine's was maybe a tad on the pricey side but still worth it.
Absolutely amazing, lovely staff and amazing food!
Perfect in every way. Fantastic food and lovely service! We will definitely return and recommend, thank you!
The salmon is to die for & I had the orange cheesecake with a pistachio base & clementine sorbet which was creamy & delicious & a generous portion so I could share.
We had a delightful conversation with the couple sat next to us as the atmosphere is warm & friendly.
The owners & staff are friendly & truly caring.
Another great experience & Copper clam is still my favourite restaurant in Brighton.
A really good find. Friendly and attentive staff. Nice atmosphere and above all the food was excellent. Well worth a visit.
Fantastic restaurant on Brighton seafront. Booked for a birthday meal and enjoyed bespoke cocktails and lovely fresh shellfish platters. Staff were very informative about both their drinks and food menu. Highly recommend!
Food was amazing , setting was quaint , staff were attentive.it was my partners birthday and they made the evening really special .Would definately recommend and will definately return
Came for my mums birthday lunch, was disappointed that there were no oysters as we had a 50 minute drive and mainly came for that. Quite a few dishes were not available. Would come back again as food we did have was nice. Hopefully they will have everything in stock next time
Oil it was new year's Day so some items were no longer on the menu, but the staff were very apologetic and discussed other option such as Jake and chips instead of cod and chips, etc. Good wine selections friendly front of house and we'll cooked and presented food at a leisurely pace.
Booked last minute & received a lovely dining experience.
Great staff & overall genuine service from lovely people.
The food was outstanding in taste, produce & appearance.
It is my favourite eatery in Brighton so far.
Looking forward to my next visit so I can try a delicious dessert.
Delightful and friendly. Good value for money and good quality fresh food.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Service was very good and a great evening out.
Had a great meal with family and friends for my 50th Birthday. Staff were lovely and helpful. Very nice evening all round.
Chose to go to the Copper Clam because of the range of fish dishes on the menu and it didn’t disappoint! We had a starter and then had the crab sharing platter with a side order of fries. To be honest, we probably didn’t need the starter or fries but we (I) had a good go at finishing them! The sharing platter was really good value with 6 oysters (which they changed to Rockafella instead of ‘natural’), a mountain of prawns (small and large), langoustines, mussels and a large crab to pick through. It took forever to eat and was great fun! Fortunately we had a lovely bottle of French rose wine to help fill the gaps in between mouthfuls. The service was of the highest standard without being intrusive, which some restaurants find hard to achieve. All in all, we had a really lovely evening and would definitely eat there again. Thank you.
This was our first trip to the Copper Clam. I'd never heard of it before and neither had any of my family who are all local. I don't know how it escaped us all. What a great restaurant. The food was delicious and the decor just really cool and funky. The service was exceptional attending to our every need. We had an amazing night and would recommend to anyone looking for a restaurant with atmosphere and style.
first time here and it was brilliant, amazing food and service. Highly recommend...
The food was quite nice but sadly all served on cold plates. Lobster bisque was therefore tepid. One main course out of 4 was sent back as cold. It returned to the table in the amount of time a microwave may take. Other mains were getting cold as, again, plates were stone cold. A shame because the service was impeccable - attentive, courteous and professional - the best part of the experience by far.
