The Copper Clam
We have a private dining area and cater for large groups and parties.
Lovely place, amazing position on Brighton Beach, good food, generous portions - mussels very good indeed.
great location, great food and friendly staff ,nothing was too much . A totally enjoyable experience all round.
Staff very friendly, nice family run restaurant. Menu is great but food didn’t quite live up to the expectation but still yummy all the same.
The food… where do I begin?! Absolutely sensational menu! Every course was delicious and such a special experience. The scallops with the pea panna cotta and the steak from the surf and turf will stay with me for a very long time!
The wine list was also incredible. The staff also had a nice amount of knowledge of the wines and helped guide me in a great direction.
There were three absolutely lovely ladies who gave us a wonderful experience from beginning to end- they were kind, knowledgable, funny and also great workers. Hats off to all three of them!
Thank you for such a lovely experience. I cannot wait to come back. 😸
Such an iconic venue.
Shame the weather was as bad as i have known it in BriHo.
But the food more than made up for it, the most decadent crab mousse chips, and the lobster was fresh and simple but none the less tasty for it.
I love clams, any chance of a version of a vongole ? the ones i sampled with the Salmon deserved centre stage.
Glad it rained as we got to dawdle at our table and enjoy a desert. My daughter turned 21 so was secretly hoping for a wee bit of recognition, still I am sure you have a convert there.
Had a lovely meal in the copper clam yesterday. Sat outside in the sun . The cata plana was amazing and baked alaska for dessert was delicious. Would definitely recommend. Will be going again when I next visit Brighton.
Delicious mussels and excellent chips! And lovely position by the sea.
Great location. Pity about the food. Much of the fish/seafood served was not fresh but frozen. The vegetables were frozen and over-cooked. Very disappointing food-wise.
Friendly and great seafood. All with a view of the beach at sunset and to top it all a rainbow over the pier. Informal atmosphere but top class service .
Fantastic meal with amazing attention of service staff
The only negative was my skate was very overcooked and the new potatoes very crushed, so neither mash or chunky. The potatoes also lacked seasoning.
I would, however visit again as the starters and oysters were divine and the service was outstanding.
Went here with my mother before uni, the monkfish was fabulous. The flavours and the quality of the fish was sublime and it was great value. Would highly recommend
Normally, the service is a bit slow. However, yesterday it was quicker as we told to the team we were in a hurry.
The price was good value overall.
I can't write a review about the food, because despite booking and turning up early, our table had been given away. The middle aged guy and the older lady with the pink hair were rude and did not care. Rather ruined our day.
We had a very strange experience here.
We booked online an hour before we got to the restaurant and there were bookings available at every service interval throughout the afternoon.
When we go to the restaurant, shortly before 1pm, it was empty and we were given the choice to sit anywhere, we than watched the manager (?) turn away two men as they hadn’t booked and the restaurant was supposedly fully booked, we then watched a lady turned away for not booking, then a couple came in immediately after them both, without a booking, and they were seated by the same guy who rejected the others.. The man who was refused came back into the restaurant and was rightfully very annoyed and asked for the manager’s(?) name before having a very frank conversation with him. Then we heard two of the other servers say to the supposed manager that ‘to be fair we’re not fully booked’. At this point we let them know we had no intention to stay any longer due to the very suspect and extremely odd way they were with other people trying to eat at their empty restaurant.
I said it was strange! No idea what the food is like and no intention of going back to find out. We have never experienced anything like it and have never left a restaurant for a reason like this. Odd.
Mixed experience. One meal was very good: oysters and pasta. The pasta was creamy, filling and delicious. One not so much: lobster roll. The lobster roll was tiny, burnt and chewy. Also suggest avoiding the espresso martini, which was meh.
Lovely staff, delicious food, we had a lovely time x
Fantastic, well thought out food, really delicious! Owner was friendly and accommodating. Younger staff need to be trained to be a little more attentive but over all I'd highly recommend this restaurant. The quality of the food was a nice surprise.
Once the standard of food and service was outstanding. This is becoming a family tradition to visit whilst on holiday.
Service was appalling, very disappointing been here before and it was excellent. Asked if I could just have prawns and lobster and told they can’t deviate from menu so just ordered half lobster and told it came with salad, it was just a couple of watercress type leaves , asked for some alioli and told they only have mayo and no other sauce. They didn’t come to our table at all unless we put our hands up, didn’t poor the drinks or anything. Such a shame as I won’t want to return.
Wonderful….greeted with a huge smile and made my son very welcome which was fantastic…absolutely delightful food wonderful service….see you very soon ❤️
Delightful restaurant on the sea front, serving delicious fish dishes. A real find!
Excellent seafront option. We stuck to seafood options, which were fresh and tasty. Great service. Good wine list. Comfortable outdoor seating & a great view across the beach and down to the sea. Highly recommended.
Thorough recommend the lobster rolls-lobster in tempura batter is absolute delicious. The moules mariniere too were exceptional .The staff were very helpful and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them. We sat outside and watched the world go by. Lovely evening.
Excellent seafood and charming service
Definitely going back
Upon arrival we were very welcomed and took a seat on the promenade in a super position. The Lobster platter included the most delicious king prawns and the enjoyment stopped there. The lobster was sparse, langoustines inedible and the service we received upon providing feedback was unbelievably bad. The manager said things like ‘oh that’s weird’! The waitress laughed and the guy collecting the plates was rude. The bill was slapped on the table with the full charge of £85 for the platter and we had to go elsewhere and eat obviously because we were still hungry.
The waiter was so lovely. We didn’t have to wait long for food. Such a good service. Food was amazing. 5/5 :)
Apart from a slightly frosty initial welcome, things soon improved. Service was speedy and attentive without being overbearing. Food was good, great ambience, great for people watching.
Will definitely come back!
Despite booking a inside table (a week beforehand) we were told inside was full & had to sit outside. We weren’t dressed for outdoors, so were freezing.
Bread was stale, drinks service was slow (food arrived before drinks) sparkling wine was flat. Food was lukewarm & went cold very quickly (as outside). Muscles were very small. We thought it was over priced for the standard of food, which was nothing special. Wouldn’t recommend.
Being our first time to the Copper Clam we were made to feel very comfortable the atmosphere was vibrant and the surroundings beautiful, the style of the restaurant was very tasteful.
The staff were absolutely brilliant not to I’m your face but attentive enough to make you feel special, the food delivery was timely and delivered beautifully and well presented, thanks to Lili our waitress for making it a special evening we will definitely return.
Food was really nice, friendly staff and great views over the sea
The restaurant was short staffed but the guys that were there did fabulously. The food was delicious and even the house wine was great. All in all a lovely evening
Can’t recommend enough.
Excellent food and service
Visited this little seafront restaurant before going to the theatre royal brighton. Food was fresh and good but expensive. Nice beer and wine and decent service- food came out fast.
Very poor!! Booked this three months in advance, confirmed the day before and then on arrival only had one option on the menu ….the excuse ‘it’s bank holiday’ . Do not book this restaurant!!!!
Wonderful food and lovely staff . Unfortunately the meal and drinks took a while to arrive but it was worth the wait once they did . Nice to sit outside on the beach front with heating/blankets provided too . Would visit again and hopefully timing issues are a one off !
Food was good and location lovely on a sunny day but service was extremely slow. Had to request more drinks and for table to be cleared after each course. Waiters and waitresses hanging around chatting to eachother not paying attention to servicing tables.
Recently married so we went out for some lunch, We had a outdoor table, Weather was beautiful with view of sea.
Our waitress was a lovely young girl who was really chatty, Service was quick and the food was...AMAZING!! Seafood and steaks to die for...we can’t wait to visit again.
Excellent and accommodating.
Our second meal and the standard and service was consistent.
Sensational sea food, especially the cataplana. Lovely staff and a great wine selection too
