The Copper Clam
We have a private dining area and cater for large groups and parties.
Delicious seafood on Brighton beach
Scallops were decent but not the best, sea bream was excellent. Service very good, prices reasonable and will go there again.
Very disappointed in this restaurant. Paid 30 pounds for two prawns, half and avocado, three muscles, two scallops, an arm of lobster with hardly any meat in it and some shrimp with eggs all over them. There were only two people serving on the day and their focus was entirely on a large table. For the starter I had a lobster roll with three pieces of lobster and loads of mayonnaise and bread. The table was not even set when we arrived. You are looking out onto an ugly cover up where building works are going on so you can hardly see the sea. Very poor standard and overall dining experience. Bathroom was also filthy. Don't waste your money.
Fantastic staff made us feel so welcome.
Kay & Husband have a fab restaurant.
Tammie & Amber
Was told the outside tables were best and was hoping for sea views, but there are boards up blocking the view. The inside /upstairs tables probably have the better views but you miss out on the sun and lovely atmosphere. Staff are amazing food was amazing. Just no sea view.
Busy... Vibrant.. Beautiful food... Excellent wines. Superb service in a great setting... Best 5 hour lunch ever!
We had a wonderful time at the copper clam. Our waiter was fantastic, very attentive and made great suggestions.
The chef, was amazing too, he was unhappy with the dish that was served to us and sent us another to replace it. We were none the wiser, So thank you. The only thing I would say that is a small negative was when it came to paying the bill it took a while for someone to take our payment. This however in no way diminished our experience.
The social distancing was performed well by staff, I would say maybe they could potentially switch to paper menus so they can be thrown away after each use, however if they have a poor soul who cleans the menus after each use then that is sufficient and more sustainable.
Booked for 1:30pm needed to change booking. Started calling restaurant at 11am - called 35 times until 1:20pmno answer or line was busy or down. So sent emails, tweets, FB and Insta messages. Nothing! Shockingly BAD communication especially in these times when it's vital. Missed our table, emailed and messaged all over gain. Two days later still nothing. Food may be good we will never know because of the terrible/non-existent customer service.
Fantastic! Easy to find located on the opposite the beach. Food was really very good - the scallops with bacon and raspberry are really special and great value for money compared to London prices. We had the Seafood Platter for One between two adults. Combined with some cooked oysters that was more than enough. The oysters were fresh, we had natural, tempura, and rockafella. We drove from North London to Brighton specifically to eat there and would do it again!
We sat outside on a perfect summer’s evening, which always helps. Couldn’t decide what to have as the menu all looked good. It is not cheap, but with no VAT at the moment it was a good price. Make sure you book!
Nice meal, but nothing special considering the price. Staff seemed over busy.
Very good service and food, would definitely come back again
Love the oysters but that is all. Too pricey for the quality of food and service we received. Will go back just to have oysters.
Really enjoyed our meal at the copper clam. Food was delicious - only negative was that they had run out of scallops. A lovely evening
Very friendly staff and incredible food! Would highly recommend
Fabulous food, very friendly staff. A nice atmosphere in the restaurant, we had a great night and would definitely visit again
Excellent meal. I had been really looking forward to my first meal, post-lockdown. And I wasn't disappointed. Excellent food and service. Perfect choice for my birthday. Many thanks for looking after us so well. :)
Weather wasn’t great when we arrived during the weekend but the ambience inside The Copper Calm was warm and great! Food is amazing! Their food are of great portions and my friends and I enjoyed the sharing platter! Not to miss when you go to Brighton!
From the moment we walked in we were in love with this place. The service was amazing and all staff were polite and attentive.
The food was unreal, we went for scallops to start and the pairing of raspberry with them was amazing. We shared a cataplana and was so so good.
Dessert was delicious we went for the crumble and the chocolate mousse.
We were sat by the window watching the world go by.
If your in Brighton please book this place you won’t regret.
What a lovely team of people serving delicious seafood, we had lobster and it was perfect. The atmosphere created by the staff was really great and welcoming and we felt a part of the atmosphere because of this. Would heartily recommend and will be returning myself very soon.
Great location, wonderful staff and delicious food. Would have liked a little more on the plate!
Friendly staff, really enjoyed my food, the only downside I would say is the view of the sea is obstructed atm by construction
Delicious Cataplana but the steak burger was okay. It was great to see how busy the place was but it did mean we were forgotten about. Took 15 mins for us to be served table water and to take our drinks order. But otherwise, a lovely experience.
Food was awesome. We will be back.
It’s an open kitchen so I spent the entire meal watching the obviously intoxicated cooks chewing their own food.
Food was nice however the service if anything was too quick ..... we got our main course literally within 2-3 mins of finishing the starter. It seemed they were trying to rush us out of the door
Absolutely dreadful, I’ve been here once and it was ok but today it was shocking!!! The lady boss/manager was drunk and trying to serve us, waiters were having an argument with her as she was aggressive and drunk towards them. The table next to us complained that their food was horrible and she actually agreed!! The man or owner was so drunk he could hardly see walking down the steps ... horrible horrible atmosphere I will never come back. Such a shame as I was looking forward to it. Oh and there was also wee all over the toilets( no COVID prevention here!! ) and there was cream sauce spilt all down the stairs. Just awful.
It was a great experience but the noise level was too loud
Nice venue on the beach. Staff were very good considering it was Avery hot and busy day. Food was delicious, the portion size could’ve been more generous, especially the pear salad!
Seafood was excellent and I would consider this value for money.
I would most definitely go back.
The best service and food I have EVER had in the UK. You cannot get any closer to the beautiful beach view and sunset. While many were dressed casually the service and food was a fine dining experience. I highly recommend this place for their seafood and phenomenal service. I saw people stopping to look at the menu and I wanted to shout “this is the place! Look no further, you will not be disappointed!” We enjoyed the scallops as a starter and the bream and salmon as our mains. Dessert was also delicious. This is a must stop
Our 30th anniversary so a special occasion, booked an inside table with a window, on turning up told they were short staffed and therefore we couldn’t sit inside. As we had no jackets this soon became cold, we were also sat near to the entrance which meant we had the footfall of the sea front path constantly going past
Food was very good and good value for money but ambience unfortunately let this very special occasion down
Lovely staff and phenomenal food, the kitchen were happy to oblige a request to substitute an item for us.
Quite pricey but couldn’t fault the entire evening.
Delicious food, relaxed ambiance and friendly and efficient staff. It was lovely to eat outside on the terrace.
Lovely staff, the bar tender was mixing us up different cocktails, really enjoyed our night, we had a table in the window, the food was good, although portions a tad on the smaller side but would definitely go again
Steak was as thin as a piece off toast funny looking rib eye very expensive wouldn’t be going back there again very disappointed
Due to covid I expected things to be exceptional but the starter was small and cold, main was bland and cold. If you are a regular customer you are treated like royalty but otherwise I feel we were being pushed into ordering drinks to boost profits.
Also as its a fish restaurant that is on the seafront I wouldn't expect them not to run out of lobster. It turns out the lobster we ordered went to the more regular customer and we had to choose something else from the menu. It doesn't make me want to return and be a regular customer.
For two meals, 4 drinks it came to £170. Sadly as we only had cold cod I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
We headed to Brighton on Sunday 5th July for 4 days. A friend told us to eat at this restaurant and we were not disappointed. It was a pleasure from the moment we entered the premises until the moment we left.
Attentive, kind staff; amazing food and wine. A little expensive but worth every penny. Thank you.
Excellent across the board, I’d definitely recommend.
The Copper Clam is a fantastic venue and the food is fantastic coupled with Sergio who was brilliant as our waiter
We had quite a late booking at 9.15pm which I think let us down. The lights were very bright, there were big groups that were very drunk & loud in a small space and some parts of the food tasted it they were prepared hours before. I would return, but more of a causal lunch, I don’t think it had the romantic seaside energy we were hoping for the evening.
