The Copper Clam
We have a private dining area and cater for large groups and parties.
Was a lovely evening out with my wife the food was divine, will definitely be returning in the near future
It was our first time there and we will definitely be coming back
Gorgeous restuarant with sea views, lovely decor & great tastes of the sea dishes. Moules were actually very small in size which was disappointing but had a lovely flavour & the seafood platter & oysters were delicious. Generally the service was very good but unfortunately the mangeress had appalling customer service when one of my friends complained about the lobster, she was rude, non-apologetic & walked around with her face sheild on her head not covering her face where it should be, which really tainted our whole evening - bearing in mind we are not getting out much at the moment!!
Tremendous place to eat some extremely tasty seafood dishes. Will be back!
We were left without service for some time. No one seemed to know who was responsible for what. We complained about two dishes. One had stale bread and salad on the edge of slime and the other had a big hair in it. The second complaint was dealt with quickly and efficiently but when the bill arrived the first item was on it and we had to point it out again. The other dishes were competent but not outstanding and it does not come cheap. I dont think we will be back.
This was our second choice but not for any particular reason . When we arrived we were greeted by staff who were very polite and friendly . We were shown to our table and almost instantly asked if we would like to order drinks . Drinks arrived quickly and so we didn’t have to wait long at all. We then ordered our food which we absolutely loved . It was so tasty , we ordered the lobster platter (£85) and around 24 oysters in total we just couldn’t get enough . We ordered a Malbec which was also very easy to drink 🙈 we stayed for around 2 and a half hrs and really enjoyed ourselves . We even went back the next day and the staff again were just as accommodating . We would recommend this restaurant !!
Absolutely lovely food and staff, lovely table with a sea view. Would highly tecommend
Sadly, this restaurant has a strange issue of hot and cold fols together. The start was hot scallops with cold shrimp. The shellfish platter for one had a mix of very cold, warm and hot shellfish. The crab fries are steaming hot fries with a cold crab dressing. I hate cracking shellfish so asked for it to be done for me. I was told it wouldn't be necessary, clearly the waiter was wrong. The shellfish platter could be chilled or grilled but the menu doesn't state this so we were given chilled.
Can't fault anything good was 10 out of 10 highly recommend
Our choice to go at 4pm on a Wednesday so ambiance was reflected in that as no one else there. Spectacular food, service and I highly recommended it.
In my opinion it’s better than Riddle and Finn which I’ve used a few times.
We went to the Copper Clam for a nice birthday celebration. The food was delicious but a neighbouring table of 6 drunks ruined the night as they were so noisy that we couldn't hear each other talk. The other tables were semi-ignored as waitors brought out drinks after drinks for the drunk table. The woman I assume owns the restaurant was lovely but the evening was dampened by loud, drunk customers who were not asked to leave.
Fantastic food and service.
Great food and the service is spot on. I would definitely recommend
We dined here on Friday night and were a bit disappointed. The service could have been better and the menu promised a lot but did not deliver. There needs to be more seasoning in the food as well as flavour. I am not sure I would return. I am sorry for the review.
The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and the food is second to none.
Great seafood restaurant on the seafront - we sat outside in the autumn sunshine. Very attentive service, beautifully cooked fish, imaginative menu.
The setting and restaurant was lovely, with a friendly and attentive staff. The Copper Clam is right next to the beach so I can imagine this will be busy during the summer months. Fantastic fresh tasty food which we both thoroughly enjoyed. If back in Brighton I will definitely dine here again.
Great staff, very welcoming team and very well organised for the current times. Food was great and provided a very good suggestion on the wines to accompany our dishes. Would highly recommend.
I still cant get over how amazing our meal was, thank you again!
Absolutely stunning seafood. Myself and my friend are from London, and we had such a wonderful afternoon here yesterday. We were really blown away by the price, such good value for money. This is easily the best seafood restaurant we have been to. So fresh & tasty, we both loved it. Fab service, not one bad comment to make. I would travel down from London again just to have this seafood. Thank you, you made our weekend!!!
On arriving we had a lovely table upstairs with a great view. It was warm and comfortable but it lacked any atmosphere. There was no music on upstairs and we could hear the music blaring from the kitchen which was really naff.
We ordered the skate wing and the moulds mariniere and chips. The skate was £25 and the description of the whole dish was wrongly printed on the menu. That dish was not available at all. I was told the skate wing included clams and then this was corrected and I was later told it wasn’t clams it was mussels and green beans. The skate wing was fresh and well cooked and meaty but the wing edges had been trimmed off which takes away the beauty and presentation of the fish and some, but not much of the fish meat. There was no finesse to the dish. It was steamed mussels and green beans on top of the skate wing. No butter, no sauce, no seasoning over muscles or green beans. The moules mariniere and chips were good, tasty and enjoyed. Overall considering the high end price all elements of our experience and food should have been better so unfortunately I won’t be returning in a hurry as there are better seafood restaurants which serve the same type of menu.
Had a delicious meal and felt very comfortable and the staff were lovely. Would definitely go back .
It was a lovely dining experience as we were given a table by the window with seaview and the staffs were so lovely and friendly.
I’m biased! The Copper Clam is my favourite restaurant in Brighton. We took two friends this time who have never been. They thought it superb and loved the friendliness and attention of Kay and her team. All four of us enjoyed our selections and I have to say that my skate was simply lovely .
Only wish I could go everyday, excellent food can’t think of a bad thing to say.
We really enjoyed the food. Waitress tried to deliver the next tables main course to us. We new it wasn’t ours as we did not order mussels for main.
Look forward to end of seafront building work so view can be enjoyed.
It was a mixed bag- the menu sounded lovely, however we left feeling disappointed and very much out of pocket.
The staff were lovely and attentive but didn’t really make up for the middle of the road, highly priced food. The only saving grace were the crab fries.
Really nice restaurant, thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the wine was fantastic.
I loved the food and very friendly service. Very good energy, yet felt Covid secure. Right on the seafront, where I caught the stunning sunset.
Muscles to start , fish n chips Or lobster For main with a crisp white wine
We arrived and given a table in the middle of the restaurant next to the bar. The place was pretty empty. We asked for a nicer table near the window explaining that we would be there for a while and therefore eat and drink a lot ! The response was very unhelpful and they did not seem to care less. We left and went next door! Very poor and very disappointing .
Food was amazing. Lovely staff. Quick service. Very welcoming.
Attentive friendly staff , great food , not cheap but you get what you pay for and it’s well worth it
Shame the food served did not match the menu but very good in any event
Waiters were all great.
Thanks for the evening
Great menu with some stunning seafood... deserts were excellent as well :-). Efficient & friendly service. Highly recommended
Food was amazing, steak was cooked to perfection. Seafood was absolutely lovely. Staff were lovely & chatty, always checking on us. We were sitting outside (this was at night) so can't comment on the inside. Little chilly at times, but did have heaters, so that was a big help. Only downside for me was (and only minor), is that I feel for the price, the steak should have come with some type of potato. You had to pay extra for 🍟. Overall though, it was fantastic.
Very lovely restaurant and the food was lovely very nice and friendly restaurant
Had a brilliant time. Great food and location. Tom’s service was excellent! Great guy.
Great location, excellent menu. Service was not great. The Italian waiter seemed to be doing everything and was amazing. Two younger waiters were clearly novices and needed telling what to do all the time, and the lady (who I have since found out is the owner) didn’t do much at all and kept disappearing, leaving everyone else to do the hard work. But would go again as the food was delicious.
After eating there, I phoned up next day with a significant complaint about the food. I felt that they needed to be aware of my experience and to give them chance to respond.
The one star that I have given for service reflects specifically the poor approach to my customer complaint. It all seemed formulaic, unrealistic and unsympathetic. By the end of the conversation, I felt little confidence in them.
I would never go back under any circumstance.
