The Cork & Bottle - Leicester Square
Love this place , amazing !
Staff friendly, food somewhat limited in choice but all four of us enjoyed what we ordered - have to admit that my "thrice cooked chips" were excellent, but there were too many of them! Only problem was the level of the music which I found irritating - but I would still recommend this restaurant.
We have visited this wine bar many times before over the last 20 years and love its charactor and great wines. Sadly, on this occassion, it did not present at its best. My first 2 choices were sold out so I ended up with a bland salad, my husband's burger was cold and dry. Service from the kitchen was very slow. Will return, but will definitely stick with the cheese board next time! Having said that, the serving staff were friendly, polite and cheerful.
Our 44th wedding anniversary. We’ve been coming here since Jan 1975 when we were students.
Great little place downstairs that you might walk by and miss it - but don’t. Small menu. Surprised at the quality of the food. Great service and friendly, hospitable, too. Definitely would return. Best make reservations; it’s small.
Although the waiters/waitresses were extremely nice, I am afraid the service was not good. We went there at 5pm so did have plenty of time before going to the Theatre and it was good that we did. Saying that it was a Friday evening, so very busy.
I am a regular at The Cork & Bottle and do like the atmosphere there.
The Cork & Bottle is still a favourite of mine!
Ideal venue before theatre.
Lovely restaurant recommended by a relative. The food was very good as was the service. Afraid we had a very noisy table behind us making it difficult to hear over the raucous laughter but overall the experience was a very pleasant meal and would definitely go again.
Very civilised place to meet for a pre-theatre supper. Excellent wine list, pleasant service and the chocolate mousse was excellent (and I've had a few...)
I love this place. Food is amazing, the wine is amazing, the staff are lovely. What more could you ask for?
Tucked away from the crowds of Leicester Square, an intimate French place, ideal for couple, friends, family basically anyone looking for good French food and fabulous wine. I recommend it to anyone!
Food was great, but wine is the reason I love coming here - we asked for a recommendation and were served a stunning pinot noir from New Zealand. Service was a bit below par, but to be fair the newbie was backed up by very experienced and great staff.
Lovely quirky little restaurant, a real gem in the heart of London. Hard to beat for good value and an interesting menu.
Ham & cheese pie never fails to please
excellent as always- a real find in the otherwise mediocre chain selection around Leicester Square.
My first visit to this wine bar/ restaurant. The service was friendly and the food reasonably priced especially for an establishment that has more of a wine focus. The menu is not huge but contained some interesting choices. I'd be happy to return if in the area looking for a bite to eat and a decent glass of wine.
Went here before going to the theatre, great atmosphere, good food. Massive selection of wine.
Just what we wanted, great food at good prices for a pre theatre dinner. Highly recommended.
This is our third visit for a meal. The service was good and my scallops were delicious. However we had cheese and the soft cheese was not! The waitress did apologise that it was not ready to be eaten but interestingly didn’t offer to take it off the bill. The other two cheeses were fine, but a bit fridge cold.
It was a shame as it spoilt an otherwise very good meal.
Good location, great selection of wines. The food was good but pretty pricey. We ordered a seafood platter which was just some fish pate and two types of salmon - definitely not what we expected. They also gave us hardly any bread to have with it and there wasn't a bread based side on the menu so we had to eat most of the fish on its own (which it didn't lend itself to that well). We enjoyed the other dishes we had, but I wasn't blown away by them. The atmosphere was lovely, however, and we would definitely go back for a bottle of wine and a cheese plate.
Booking the table was really easy via the app. As ever we enjoyed great service and the wine was fabulous. Ordered dinner which was really nice. Altogether a wonderful evening.
One of my favourite "go to" restaurants in London.
Cosy place with good selection of wine and cheese. Competent service with recommendations on what to eat and drink depending on the customer's moods.
Second visit and it was as good as the first.
Food is first class and well presented.
Friendly helpful service.
Actually better this time, as this time we indulged in their superb selection of cheese.
Great service. Nice wine. Great cheese selection. Wonderful atmosphere.
Great wine selection and menu choice - no rush to get us out when we had a late lunch. Really nice place would definitely go again.
Wonderful place - lovely wine, delicious food, great service.
We were 3 people on a small table and I hit my head on a picture on the wall behind on 2 occasions. However for all that we enjoyed the experience and it is perfect for a pre theatre supper.
Best wine bar in London. Great food and drink in a traditional setting. Perfect!
Always a pleasure to dine at this gem of a wine bar
Went on Saturday lunchtime, before a show, had a lovely steak, and my friend had the duck, which she said was lovely, unfortunately didn't have time for a pudding, or the lovely looking cheese selection. Maybe next time.
We have been coming to the cork and bottle for over 45 years. That says it all!
Good selection of wine and some nice food on offer all delivered with a smile.
A great place to pop in for a pre theatre bite to eat and a glass of wine
A friend and I had a very nice lunch at The Cork and Bottle. As it was lunchtime the place wasn't full so it was nice and quiet. Our food was delicious and our waiter was excellent - apparently it was only his second day there but he was charming - I hope he stays! We always eat here when we meet up in London and will continue to do so. Can thoroughly recommend.
I've been to Cork & Bottle numerous times - before or after a show, for dates, for a relaxed and cosy dinner with old friends. Terrific comforting food, knowledgeable, efficient and adept service and a wonderful wine list. Exactly what is meant by convivial - highly recommend!
As ever, an old favourite never lets you down . Food as ever simple , wines complex .
What a find, we loved this place, excellent food wine and service. Couldn’t fault it.
Have eaten here a number of times, but not recently. Arranged to meet my son here for a catch-up, as a Grammy-nominated film director, he’s frequently abroad so I wanted an ambient venue with quality food.
The cheese and ham pie was filled with wads of cheap sliced ham, my prawn and crab linguine was lacking in crab.
Won’t be back in a hurry.
