The Cork & Bottle - Leicester Square
Good location, great selection of wines. The food was good but pretty pricey. We ordered a seafood platter which was just some fish pate and two types of salmon - definitely not what we expected. They also gave us hardly any bread to have with it and there wasn't a bread based side on the menu so we had to eat most of the fish on its own (which it didn't lend itself to that well). We enjoyed the other dishes we had, but I wasn't blown away by them. The atmosphere was lovely, however, and we would definitely go back for a bottle of wine and a cheese plate.
Booking the table was really easy via the app. As ever we enjoyed great service and the wine was fabulous. Ordered dinner which was really nice. Altogether a wonderful evening.
One of my favourite "go to" restaurants in London.
Cosy place with good selection of wine and cheese. Competent service with recommendations on what to eat and drink depending on the customer's moods.
Second visit and it was as good as the first.
Food is first class and well presented.
Friendly helpful service.
Actually better this time, as this time we indulged in their superb selection of cheese.
Great service. Nice wine. Great cheese selection. Wonderful atmosphere.
Great wine selection and menu choice - no rush to get us out when we had a late lunch. Really nice place would definitely go again.
Wonderful place - lovely wine, delicious food, great service.
We were 3 people on a small table and I hit my head on a picture on the wall behind on 2 occasions. However for all that we enjoyed the experience and it is perfect for a pre theatre supper.
Best wine bar in London. Great food and drink in a traditional setting. Perfect!
Always a pleasure to dine at this gem of a wine bar
Went on Saturday lunchtime, before a show, had a lovely steak, and my friend had the duck, which she said was lovely, unfortunately didn't have time for a pudding, or the lovely looking cheese selection. Maybe next time.
We have been coming to the cork and bottle for over 45 years. That says it all!
Good selection of wine and some nice food on offer all delivered with a smile.
A great place to pop in for a pre theatre bite to eat and a glass of wine
A friend and I had a very nice lunch at The Cork and Bottle. As it was lunchtime the place wasn't full so it was nice and quiet. Our food was delicious and our waiter was excellent - apparently it was only his second day there but he was charming - I hope he stays! We always eat here when we meet up in London and will continue to do so. Can thoroughly recommend.
I've been to Cork & Bottle numerous times - before or after a show, for dates, for a relaxed and cosy dinner with old friends. Terrific comforting food, knowledgeable, efficient and adept service and a wonderful wine list. Exactly what is meant by convivial - highly recommend!
As ever, an old favourite never lets you down . Food as ever simple , wines complex .
What a find, we loved this place, excellent food wine and service. Couldn’t fault it.
Have eaten here a number of times, but not recently. Arranged to meet my son here for a catch-up, as a Grammy-nominated film director, he’s frequently abroad so I wanted an ambient venue with quality food.
The cheese and ham pie was filled with wads of cheap sliced ham, my prawn and crab linguine was lacking in crab.
Won’t be back in a hurry.
We had a great time. Long time since I have been at C&B and it's brilliant without all the cigarette smoke for a start. But lovely food, great time with an old friend and good service. I'll be back.
I haven't been to C&B for years, but I'll be back again soon.
Great wines as always. Favourite pre-theatre haunt
Good location . Nice ambiance. Pleasant wine and food. Customer service could be better
I love the atmosphere in this place - would definitely recommend!
All good, would liked more time.
Lovely selection of cheeses and good wine list
The place did smell musty but probably because it is below ground
The food was lovely the service very good but slow when it came to clearing the table half was cleared and then we were forgotten about, however it did not detract from a very enjoyable lunch
Overall a good experience, the food was excellent, so were the wines. Service was good, albeit slightly hectic but no issues there. The main negative aspect was that when you get to the main floor (underground) level there isn't any air. It was unbelievably hot. We got used to it by the middle of the meal but not exactly comfortable. Other than that it was really good. If they could sort the air conditioning out then it'd be fab!
Great food and staff very friendly and accommodating.
Would highly recommend this place!
From the cocktails before dinner, to the meal itself, it was a delicious experience.
Fantastic night as always
I know this sounds contradictory but apart from the occasional smell of damp we had wonderful lunch time experience . Fabulous food and choice of wine. Quiet but atmospheric for at 4pm on a Tuesday. I real find!
Very welcoming cosy atmosphere once you have negotiated the spiral staircase down to this lovely restaurant. Great range of dishes in all sizes to suit your appetite. Speedy friendly service and lovely food. The B &C Mess was a wonderful dessert with honey comb strawberries chocolate brownies and cream mmm....
Cozy and convenient place to meet up for a drink after work.
The wine selection is really good, I've been here quite a few times and have always had fab wine. Either I'm choosing well, or every item is excellent. Can't decide.
Some tables are a bit too close to other people, gives it a certain atmosphere, but depends on how loud they, or you, get ;-)
Enjoyed a visit here pre-theatre. Great wine selection, well located and place had a nice atmosphere and timeless look. Very friendly service despite them getting very busy which they told us is standard pre-theatre before they have a lull afterwards. Food was solid without being anything special but it was generally a very nice meal.
Food was ok, table too small for four people. Couldn’t fit the plates and drinks on the table!
Would have helped if the waiter could understand English to a better level. We asked for horseradish and got Worcestershire sauce. Never had that with roast beef before! We gave up at that point.
Great hidden gem. It’s our regular pre theatre restaurant.
We sat at the bar; enjoyed some wonderful cheeses and a charcuterie board. The wine is delicious but it isn’t a cheap evening.
Good choice of wines & good food. So much better then the chain restaurants around Leicester Square.
