The Cork & Bottle - Paddington

Would definitely visit again; Good ambience albeit very quiet on the night we were there probably due to concerns re virus
We were looking for a traditional Sunday Roast option near our hotel at the Hilton London Paddington. We were delighted to find the option we located so near to us was the best we've had in London to date. In addition, they offer a special 5 GBP roast dinner if each individual purchases at least 10GBP in drinks. Our meal with wine cost us about 5GBP less than the two dinners would have otherwise cost on their own. We plan to visit again whenever in London.
Wasn’t actually open that the time we booked, but went there later in the day.
The Cork & Bottle was a pleasant little restaurant close to Paddington Station. I had booked a table at 1345 in order to meet people that had travelled from Heathrow. All was smooth and the food was fine. I chose Moroccan Swordfish (very pleasant) and my companions opted for the cod. None of us ordered alcohol, just mineral water and coke, all was good. Desserts were amazing, especially the apple tart with ice cream.
Amazing Sunday lunch for £5 ... loved it
The wine list is comprehensive with excellent wines at reasonable prices. Nice variety in the menu with small plates and mains.
Great wine selection with an average price around 35 to 50 pounds. Several good vegetarian selections with small and large plates and great for sharing. A good spot to meet friends by Paddington station. As a foodie and a wine buyer I give this 5 stars!
Very friendly and attentive service.
Very nice and hospitable. Good food and wine
Bit slow on the uptake to take a drinks order on arrival.
The service was very poor as they wanted us to leave early as they were closing for Christmas. We wanted to order a desert but couldn’t because the kitchen was closed and the staff didn’t tell us earlier.
Overall it wasn’t a great experience from the customer service point of but the food and wine was lovely. I’d recommend to go to the Leicester Square restaurant.
Close to Paddington Station and a lovely lively friendly bistro with good wide wine selection
this is a very cozy restaurant to enjoy fantastic appetizers and main dishes. The wine list was extensive. The wait staff were great and personable. Highly recommend.
The choice of wines was amazing, a whole booklet. The food was good and reasonable priced. The service was excellent. The only thing that marred my visit is that the wine bar reported me to Open Table as a 'no show' nor did I get an apology for their mistake.
Was lovely meal in a great setting. Service towards the end became a little slow but that may have been due to the restaurant being busy and not enough staff on duty.
Food very good. Very noisy however, service even worse. No record of the reservation on their system! Had to prompt the waiter to take our drinks order (which they got wrong), then again prompt for our meal order, and again for the bill. Waited for 5 minutes with credit card at the ready, eventually gave up and just paid at the bar! Shame, could be a good place - food was excellent and good value for money. The kitchen staff are being badly let down by front of house team based on my experience.
What a little find, right near the station, we were early so initially it lacked a bit of atmosphere but great menu choice with equally good food and service.
Had a fab lunch here. Really good choices of food and all tasty.
Ox cheeks were fantastic but the sides were average, we had green beans and polenta chips; fast service on both the drinks and meal order. Music was a little on the loud side however despite all these my friend and I had a lovely time.
Reviews are not to be trusted for this place. The server informed us there was no chef and it would be at least 40 mins before he arrived. We were patient, when it came the food was reheated, my shepherd's pie was cold, the drinks were overpriced. The poor server kept apologising for what were management decisions. Don't eat here, there are better options in the neighbourhood.
Like stepping back in time to the 80s! But in a good way! I really enjoyed the evening and I was hooking up with an old friend and simply wanted somewhere for some drinks and food, nothng too fancy, this turned out to be perfect. For a Friday night, it was not busy, although I had booked a table for two. Music was great, was from the 80s and 90s, fantastic and very extensive wine list, and great choice of food - sharing plates, nibbles/snacks, tapas style dishes or larger full plates, plus a very good selection of cheeses for those wines ... although, as many places seem to do, the cheese was served too cold - should be served at room temperature to get full flavours! Staff were friendly although the first waitress could not understand what I wanted when I ordered a gin & tonic! and had to get a colleague to come and help!
Very welcoming. We didn't want to each very much but that was not a problem. Almost empty, though, on a Saturday evening
Poor roast, loudish music and drunk neighbours. Not our kind of place. The service was attentive and my scallops were very good. Sorry I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. We also found the decor very dingy.
Lovely food and some interesting options on the menu
This is the second time I visited this restaurant, as it is handy point close to my work. The reason I have come back is because the menu is unusual and very flavourful!
Food was average for the price, perfectly acceptable. Service was awful, they forgot one of our mains despite the fact there were only two of us. Then after apologising and saying it would be free due to the delay, they still charged us.
Very nice..Very attentive service.
Very nice setting and plenty of public transport.
The food was very tasty, hot & well presented. The evening we went, there was a large party dining and as the venue is quite small and has wooden (?) floors and low ceiling, the noise level was quite high. Service was mixed: we were greeted, seated and offered water very promptly and our orders taken when we were ready. After our main course, we shared a cheese platter & ordered more drinks including a mint tea, which came promptly but the pint of beer and glass of wine ordered at the same time did not and we had to remind the waitress twice that they hadn't arrived. I think the prices, especially of the wine, were quite high even for London although the quality was excellent. Our bill for three, including service, was about £140.
Stunning snails & fresh fish, relaxed atmosphere, excellent wine choices and great service. Will definitely go back.
Very close to Paddington Station so very convenient. Nice interior, and food was very good and exceeded our expectations. The issue was the service - could not consistently identify who our server was, they seemed to keep switching around. and there was a significant language barrier with one server. We would have liked to order dessert but getting the rest of the meal ordered was such a challenge we gave up and just got the check instead. Still we do recommend this restaurant if you are near Paddington and looking for a good meal.
I love these restaurants, although the Leicester Square one is probably still my favourite for ambience. One top tip for this restaurant is to have more than 3 small pieces of soft bread with the baked camembert, but other than that, great!
Great food and friendly staff
Food was nice enough. Not hugely inspirational but enough choice to warrant the rating. Reasonable price. Friendly staff. Ok for a bear station business dinner. They try hard and that’s what counts.
I have been here before and was expecting a lot more. The wines by the glass were uninspired and pricey. The first one was meant to be a Pinot but was definitely not and I sent it back. The others were average. Paying the same for a glass of wine as the retail price of a full bottle is really not acceptable. The steak I had was thin and tough. I will not visit this restaurant again
Nice ambience, good food and wine although service was a little slow at times.
Very slow and poor service. Food was adequate. Didn't have either one of the wines we wanted. Took ages to be served and often forgot that we had ordered things. Disappointing.
Great place for very good wine and decent food. Nice ambience and just popping in for a glass of wine is welcomed.
Good food, amazing wine selection carefully curated. Deserves more customers, service was tip top !
The worst roast ever, unfortunately they ran out of roast and served us boiled potatoes, really disappointing
